  1. Well...OK. Though this little tale isn't nearly as embarrassing nor foolish as some of the childish stunts my same age cousin and I pulled back then. We were about 9 years old, and like kids of the late 50s were fond of doing. We were playing army of some sort. So my Dad comes in from work and hands me a really, really HUGE package of Black Cat Firecrackers. (You know this isn't going to end well...don't you.) So my cousin Carson and I tore into them and very quickly tired of just lighting and throwing them. You see what's coming, right? Yep, that's it. We started throwing them at each other. But that just really wasn't satisfying enough. Not enough, make-believe blood, guts and gore for us. Being all American red-blooded little soldiers. It degraded quickly thereafter. We hit upon the idea of making hand grenades to toss. You know just for fun. Sure. We made I don't know how many mud grenades, used a stick to make a hole in them, and set them out to dry. But as it was late, we had to postpone the war until the next day. Come morning, Carson and I snuck out with a cigarette each and a bunch of the aforementioned firecrackers. We each had a flour sack. Some of you older geezers remember those I guess. Sat down and put a firecracker in each one, and loaded up our flour sacks. Then proceeded to light the cigs and commence trying to kill each other. Dried mud balls didn't react quite how we thought they would, especially after all that time to harden. They did "explode" to a degree. Mostly just into small, shrapnel-like pieces. But being to energetic and foolish to stop, we ran around the trees throwing them. all the while trying to find cover so as not to get hit too much. Now...remember that little shed from the start of this tale? That's right. That one. I proceeded to run inside and hide, throwing those dried mud grenades thru the open side of the shed. Well, those hornets didn't like the noise and pieces of dirt hitting the walls. A few started buzzing around and checking out the situation. About that time...Carson did a double up on me. Threw 2 inside. And of course the hit near that nest, and went off. That set off the whole nest, I think. I ran. They flew out with me. I ran for Carson, wanting to share the fun. lol We both got stung several times before getting into the house, where we spent most of the day. Now wasn't that long version better than just saying I got stung while in the shed? lol
  2. As a diehard CZ fan, I'm surprised that it doesn't do much for me. I'll happily stick with my Scorpion Evo 1.
  3. Naw, Sherf. Ahh ain't seen no revenur round hurh.
  4. Purchased a Tokarev T33 just recently. It was listed as Military Surplus and used. Didn't try for any special pick of 5, (or was it 10). Just wanted a firing example. I received as good an example as I had not expected. It looked more like un-issued stock to me. No marks of any kind. I'm extremely happy with what I received.
  5. Yes, I wondered about that as well. Not at all knowledgeable on the topic, but am curious.
  6. I believe my Dad's original family home was covered in the brown. I have a memory of it peeling around the backside where shed was attached. I used to hide and play in there...until the hornet incident.
  7. Actually, I would love to see both! But just might prefer the Glock just tiny bit. lol
  8. I don't listen as much since I retired, but I did manage to get my wife listening. lol She loved Ralph Bristol, dislikes Michael D., and I swear she is rabid over Phil. Is Phil no longer nationwide?
  9. The Nashville Rescue Mission is one of a few groups I support, and have been for about 15 years. I became aware of them while a road salesman who got bored with about every station. I discovered 99.7 and have been hooked ever since. I really like that the station management and air personalities give of themselves to support the Mission as well.
  10. Sort of like it. For now, think it's a neat idea for gifts for your pistol packin' family members...or just to sit on a shelf. Actually, I know I'll have to get a few just to see my wife pick one up. lol
  11. My prayers for you all. Cancer doesn't affect just the patient...all the family and many friends are devastated by the disease and the treatment. I know this well. As a Leukemia/Lymphatic Cancer survivor, I know the scenario quite well. My story quite similar to both those. I had 9 months of daily chemo treatments, a week on and a week off. It wasn't pleasant. After that, my tumors were still active, and I was sent to the Sarah Cannon Center at Centennial, where I was introduced to the hard core people. A tough bunch, but with a determination to see me though. I was told of the Stem Cell Transplant procedure, and then introduced to the other half of the process...the High Dose Chemo. I thought I had it bad before. I was wrong. Five days of high does of very potent drugs. I walked in on Monday morning. Monday afternoon and the following 4 days I was taken everywhere on a gurney. I hope and pray this lady can bypass the latter part of my story. Had 3 months of radiation, and after another 3/4 months of recuperation, I was pronounced to be "in remission." Two little words that took my breath away. Lots more to the tale than that, but you don't really want or need to hear it. My course did somewhat parallel what your son is going thru. I had a grapefruit sized tumor between my stomach and colon. I was told not to worry. Surgery and a little chemo or radiation and I would be fine. Surgery was performed and Doc found a vessel encompassed by the tumor. It hadn't shown up in all the scans, so he closed me up and we began the chemo 6 weeks afterwards. That's where my previous comments come in. The chemo drugs are supposed to be more effective now, with lesser side effects. I don't know. I've heard yes and no on that from other patients in waiting room conversations. One thing I found is that cancer is a true bonding glue for people. Many, like myself, will talk for hours about what we went thru. It's cathartic for those who endure it, and informative for all others when discussed. Sorry to be so long here. Tell the both that there is hope of at least remission if not a total release from it all. I found that family, prayer, love and faith can work wonders. I wasn't really expected to be here today, but all the love and prayer, not to mention, nor leave out, the absolutely wonderful team of doctors and nursed I had; I am here. I always say that God didn't want me yet. I still had/have something to do here. I will keep you all in my prayers. May God Bless and Keep you all in his arms.
  12. Said I'd never own an HK. Have had 2, and kept the VP9. I'd have to seriously consider the Longslide Kit for mine. Although as said, would prefer a full gun instead. I think.

You will never, if I can help it, see my gaffs. I hide them pretty well; I try and proofread everything I post. Mainly because I tend to type my first thought. And after I see it on paper, I have to redo it. If I didn't do this, I'd have been kicked out long ago. Even at that, I've gotten some interesting pm messages with veiled warnings. So I try not to speak aloud. My mouth goes straight into Hot headed and Stupid mode sometimes. I saw one of the local gun dealers today, and was told that since I'd bought a couple of Shields, I probably wouldn't like the new Glocks, the 43x and the 48. I've dealt with him for a while, and he knows my preferences. We shall see how well he knows me. Also asked if he knew anything about the TX22. He said he'd not heard anything on it yet.

Don't think I want a commentator tagging along on my pistol. lol Sorry I just had to correct it. No offense meant. A compensator maybe, but even he would be unnecessary on a 22.
  15. Well...it does look a bit better.
  16. Needs to be put into practice today. lol
  17. Me too. We have some Coopers Hawks and Red Tails around here. I just love listening to them and watching them soar around. I've been lucky enough to see a Red Tail grab a water snake and actually carry it off. I saw him land and really tear into it. Another time, one of the Coopers chased a squirrel around and caught it, only to drop it. The squirrels really put up a fight. lol
  18. Thank you for the history. I had a vague notion that it resembled the PPhs. I guessed partially right anyway. lol
  19. Please forgive my lack of knowledge here, but what is this weapon? That looks like a very odd and wide magazine.

Sure sounds good! Love the concept of a 16 round mag for it. I'll definitely be looking for and at it. OTD pricing and extra mag availability and pricing will also affect my decision on it.
  21. Never had any BP guns, but that sure is interesting. If you get one...keep us/me informed.
  22. Ditto on the WOW!! Those are some really good shots. I favor the one with his wings spread and on the carcass. Perhaps just as landing?
  23. Agreed. I've watched it twice now...don't ask me why...I really don't know. I guess I just couldn't believe what I was hearing.
  24. That is so great! And T-grips to boot. You got a wonderful pistol. I think it might just be in better shape than mine.
  25. ...Galileo...Galileo...
