I've got a CX4 that's still boxed. lol An old Colt Sporter 9 is probably my favorite carbine, but a PSA 9 is rapidly taking its place.

Don't feel bad about disassembly issues. I go no further than field stripping for maintenance. I don't see small parts that well, and my hands are not as steady as they once were. I no longer have illusions of competitive shooting. Range time for fun and keeping familiar with my weapons is about my limit these days.

Hopefully, you will get all issues settled out. I'll take mine out next chance I get to shoot(which hasn't been very often in the last 6 months) and try it again with 115and 124 loads together. Will try a mag of each and then a mixed mag and see what happens. My original TP9SA will digest anything I've put thru it with out a single problem. I bought an Elite a while back on a whim at a great price, but haven't shot it. I'll take the Elite and the SFX together and try to get some impressions on them and let you know.
-
What kind of problems are you having with 124 grain? That's about all I shoot in my 9 pistols anymore. I haven't put a great number of rounds thru my SFX, but I can't say I've had any problems with the 124 in it.

Justice Department to ban bump stocks

A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. If one link thinks it's ok to be told, or tell someone else what we/they may own/need...then that's a weak link in the chain. The chain weakens when we all do not stand together. Whether or not you own, or personally like a product or a particular firearm; when we sacrifice unity, we all lose. Perhaps the term "traitor" to the cause here is a bit harsh, but the spirit of the statement I think is true. We must pull together with a united front on these issues. If we give in on one item, that just empowers the other side to scream for more surrendering of items and rights. Whether we all embrace a particular item or not, that unity is very important. Stand together guys. For all our sakes. -
I went with one of the ATI models a couple of years back myself. Liked it a lot more than the Firefly/Mosquito. I actually sold the Mosquito as fast as I could. I absolutely hated the cheap(ly) made frame. I had FTE/FTF problems from day one. I just gave up on it completely after a few range attempts, cleaning, etc. Sold it to a young man who knew of my problems but thought he could make it reliable. The ATI was much better. I found that mine worked best with copper jacketed rounds. Pretty accurate and fun pistol. But it did not cure the itch. I'd been wanting an Advantage Arms Conversion kit for a G22 frame. So I bought one. It comes as close to being easy to shoot as any revolver or semi in 22 I've ever owned. It just suits me. I just hate loading the mags though...they are a real pita. Ok...just my story.

Recommendation for gunsmith Nashville
hipower replied to Bradski's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I've had work done by both of these gentlemen. I really can't say I prefer one over the other, as both do some very good work. I will say though, that I'd only let Sam work on any gun taken to his shop. Not really a fan of some of his recent help. -
Beautiful collection of Smiths! Yeah... the Rugers are nice too. lol I have Rugers, but my first love definitely is a S&W revolver!

No...Wolf's head for me.

Welcome. I see you chose the Cookeville area. It's very nice, much more crowded than it was 30 years ago when I was there. I think you'll like it. Convenient to your hunting and fishing wishes, and a few gun shops and ranges. As for the weather...get used to sudden changes. It's a fact of life around middle Tennessee.

Not able to buy ammo at Walmart past 9PM
hipower replied to tnvarmint's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Just re-read this entire thread again. I came to this conclusion. Walmart is good for 3 things... 1 Watching strange people and having a source for the pics People of Walmart. 2 It is convenient to most of us. 3 It's the perfect place for your first public carry after getting your permit. Hence the name Wally-Walk. -
OK. I got to ask for an explanation on this one. lol

7AM or 7PM? Or is it 2 events? -
Reese is great to deal with! I've made a few(lol) purchases from him over the years he's been in Old Hickory.

All guns are more accurate than I am.

Look at it like buying a safe. What have you got now? What do you think you might have/buy in the future? I would, if I could afford what you are planning, try to go a bit longer or wider, depending on your wishes. The 12' height sounds good, but probably have to have many supports when going larger in area. Would you need a little pitch to it if going larger, to help with possible snow? And how much space and height will the lift need? Think about doors on both ends. Might or might not work for you. Add a good security system to the build. Most importantly, consider all this and your budget. Again, could I afford it, I'd definitively go larger. Just my own thoughts. Never built a home, so maybe my thoughts are off.

Good commentary, Gordon. I have been wondering about real world people's thoughts on this model. Glowing reviews from a paid sponser and magazine ads just don't always have all the truth.
-
Yes, the Canik is an awesome pistol. I bought one about 2 years ago when I saw an ad and the price was under 300. The reviews on it were pretty good, so I bit on it. Never regretted it. I now have 3 of them and a slew of mags for them. I just love that you can use the Canik mags and the CZ mags in them. Load them all up and shoot for half a day. And get a couple of the 20 round mags. I get tired before I empty the mag these days. lol

A 1911 in 9mm is the cat's meow! Get one and you'll be hooked!

Far from being my favorite 9, but have to agree on the 19. It's just got so many things going for it that it's hard not to think of it in the top echelons of carry guns. Having said that...I'll most likely have my Shield and a spare mag or three with me most. Now...all my opinions aside, MRSpivey has it right. Whatever works for you. I have some Smith wheelies that I love. Some my Dad's, some I've acquired over the years. As indicated, I have Glocks, Smiths, Walthers, CZs, and a few Sigs thrown in for good measure. Even a Tauri or 2. lol My house gun(s) tend to be whatever I shoot easily enough that I can pick up and know what to do without fiddling around with buttons and levers. For me, that tends to be the G19 and a couple of Springfield SC9's. I bought the first SC9 many moons ago and had a CT Grip put on. Old and still functional. I change the battery(thanks to CT's Lifetime Battery deal) every year. The second, I traded into from a member here. Both are in convenient locations for easy access, but well hidden from sight. I'm not particularly great with any one of these, but I can use, fairly well I think, all of them. But picking an absolute is an exercise in futility for me. If I could keep only a few, I would probably have to go with Dad's K frame 38/357. Best all round gun I've ever shot. Not the best carry for me, but it can be done. Sorry, sort of wound up this morning.
