  1. Those are slick! I'd hate to copy, but I really like those.
  2. THIS IS SO RIDICULOUS! Must be some arcane laws of PA we aren't aware of.
  3. Well said, Doug. In spite of the earlier comments in other threads; as much as I would prefer the previous, old fashioned, and just plain easy for me format: this forum is still the property of TGO David and I will abide by his decisions. As several had already said, I would not stop visiting, and I might go into fits with other formats; but it's still not my playground. I just play here.
  4. Permit me to offer a third possibility for reduced traffic, Mac. With the last several incarnations of the format, I find the site less and less user friendly. Yes, I'm old and don't have the background in computers/IT/ and other high tech things that most people here seem to have. The days of my spending hours here have been gone for quite some time now. Yes, I'm also job challenged and have a lot of time I should put to better use. But to me at any rate, I see the number of former heavy-duty users dwindling. Seems stat many of the staple names have almost disappeared from the posts. I do see a bunch of new names, very many of which seem to be sellers who have discovered the site; and they do not usually represent the kind who will stick around. They come for the fast sale and that's all. And quite frankly, after contacting several of them, I'd just as soon they not return. Ok, this is not well written, and I'm probably going to offend some by it. But just my little opinion.
  5. Makes me wish I was there. I'm easily tempted by sale prices. lol
  6. Yes one of my favorite Smith revolvers. I have acquired 3 over the last 10 years. A 4" shooter. A 4" Texas Ranger Commemorative. And my personal favorite...a 2.5 with a Tyler grip. It is a sweet little thing!
  7. Yes. Absolutely. That's what has been keeping me from doing a couple of things. The cost and the time involved. Mostly the time to be legal on it.
  8. That's true. And probably the best route for me. But...if I should got the SBR route someday, I have this little thought of using a minimalist stock on it. I have one on a carbine and I really like it.
  9. I am thinking of doing a 9mm pistol form. Using PSA 7.5 upper, I don't see much need for a brace on it. But if all comes together as I hope, I'd think of using a brace on it to see if I'd like to go the SBR route for it. I know I have other options instead of this, but it's been on my mind for a while. Kinda stuck in the cracks and I can't shake it loose.
  10. That was sooooo tempting. lol But I must stop somewhere, and I've spent my allowance into 2050 it seems.
  11. Took my permit class, many years ago, with a Sig 226 in 40. I liked it, but just didn't love it. After the class, I retired the 40 and went to a 9 almost exclusively. Had a G22 for a while, trade it for a 23. Then sold the 23. I just didn't like the 40. Then somehow, I acquired a G24 and found I sort of liked the 40 again. That...and your comments about the PPQ in 40 have me wondering. Maybe someday... a PPQ in 40? Hmmm.
  12. Not a good tale like some have, but I was still working parts sales at the time. We'd had a fairly long sales meeting that morning and I was just getting to my first call as the first plane hit. Like almost all the nation, I was dumbfounded by the concept that a passenger jet had done this. Standing at the owner's sales counter, he and I saw the second hit and were totally stunned. We knew then it was no accident. I called my wife and the office in that order. Didn't get much done that day. But I doubt many of us did. I do remember my wife telling me that Vandy's Trauma and Burn Center was up and running to receive patients, and she was going in to help. I tried to explain why there would likely be no need for her to go in. That didn't go well.
  13. I agree, buddy. Our favs and icons are leaving us. And worse...that means we are getting long in the tooth as well. Think I'll go crank up Melissa. So long Greg...you'll surely be missed at my house.
  14. Thanks for posting this, buddy. I first saw the video just after it first appeared and have found it to be one of the most moving things I've ever seen. To be hones, I'll be tearing up before halfway thru it. So...thanks to all those who served. And a special blessing for those who didn't make it home. Thank You...one and all.
  15. Because it was there. Period. You have the same disease as the rest of us.
  16. Yes, at least President Trump is attempting to do something. The Democrats and many Republicans as well, have just tried to talk it all away. But it just doesn't seem to work for them. Too much truth there. Can't have fingers pointing out the obvious these days.
  17. I'd recommend the PPQ Model 1 or 2. I have M2s in both 9mm and 45. Because initially I could not find a M1 Navy version. I'm happy with both, and will probably someday pick up a Navy model as well. The M2 9mm is fantastic. Trigger is perfection. Reset is very tangible and audible. And very easy to get succeeding shots off if you like holding at the reset point. The M2 in 45 is very nice as well, but has a bit more muzzle flip than I had expected from it. I still have a couple Glocks, in fact took out my 19 last week. But of the two, I'd have to say I prefer the PPQ. jmo
  18. You do have a good shelter I presume? I think you just might need a place to stay for a day or two. lol
  19. Congrats, Mikey! You'll have to tell me this story on my next trip up. I haven't had a 45 Shield, but as has been mentioned, the current pricing sure makes it tempting. As I said after last weeks range session, I shot my 9mm Shield better than the G19 and the Gen2 M&P 9 5" I brought. Yeah, still thinking on that one. But as a long time Shield fan, and the owner of several(another long story), I really consider them to be one of the best, almost pocket guns out there. Yeah. I really need another pistol.
  20. So...if the manager and the team can't touch the trophy...who gets to move it off the ice? Aren't superstitions a strange thing? But anyway, as a recent follower of Preds hockey, I must say it has been quite a ride to this game. These guys sure seem to have it together and are beating all the players and teams who keep saying that Nashville hockey and its fans just don't have what it takes to be in the NHL, lol I think last night put that to rest. My congratulations to the entire team and management staff of the Nashville Predators for a fantastic season. Now go and get the next one taken care of and bring the Stanley Cup down South!
  21. Firstly, I would like to say thank you for raising such a well rounded young lady. You certainly seem to have informed and educated her to a level of responsibility almost unheard of in today's society. That being said, you have also shown wisdom in the areas of worry and what she may encounter while living the college life. I will not presume to know what is best for her. With the obvious training you have given, it seems she would be comfortable with whatever you and she might choose together. Others will surely have their own ideas, but I think the Mossberg with light loads is a good choice. Also possibly something like a S&W Govenor comes to mind. Whatever the two of you choose, also factor in this roommate. Does she also have the same mindset and similar training? What might be her capabilities? Picking a defensive weapon for both of them also adds to the mix. My best wishes for you in the search.
  22. I so much want to be there!! Unfortunately, a conflict of dates with a family party for my 90 year old aunt in Cookeville will take precedence. I'm sure all you guys going will have a fantastic time. I will be thinking of you...nasty thoughts, but I will be thinking of you. lol Thanks to all who worked to set this up. I do appreciate it, and hope someday to be able to attend one of these events.
  23. My wife is a wonderful woman. She puts up with me. But that being said, she has no business picking up a knife of any kind. Granted it has been a while since this happened; but she is very prone to cutting herself. Better now than in the past, but we still don't have really sharp knives in the utensil drawer.
