Very sweet find!

I bought a Sigma from a young man who didn't like it. I guess that was just after it came out. I had no problems whatsoever with it...trigger and all. I was walking around the old Murfreesboro show, the good one from the Walmart building days; and had it on my hip. Got stopped by a middle aged guy who wanted to know what it was. I showed him and we talked for a few minutes. He then made me an offer on it, more than I'd paid for it. So he walked away with it. That worked out well for me, as I bought a Sig SP2009 with the money. It's been a pretty good one as well. Especially for as little as I'm in it for.

Well, I certainly had that wrong. lol But I did handle one and it sure felt smaller to me.

Good idea. I forgot about the Ruger.

I have a 1911 9mm in the Rock Island flavor and it's a terrific pistol. I'd really like to add another one. Maybe the Springer Champion in 9. I hope I'm not wrong here, but the RO 9 is pretty small from what I remember of it. Similar to the Browning 380 1911. I always hear people telling how great the Colt is in 9, but never had my hands on one, so I don't know. If money weren't the problem, I think I'd look at one of the Sig 1911 in 9. I've had several Sig 1911s in 45, and they've all been great. so that might be my first, or second choice. But considering how little I have in the RIA, and how well it handles and shoots...maybe another one of them. And speaking of how well it functions, my thanks to Sam Hoster in Gallatin for the little tweaks he did on it for me.

As far as I know, the lifetime provision is still in effect. But...wait times for repairs can vary from unbelievably fast to omg where the heck is my pistol. Getting parts for a Taurus also can be a problem. Taurus doesn't like to let parts go. lol

Well...I found a Canik TP9 Elite. I said I would and I did. I bought it. I'll let you know what I think after a range session. Hopefully later this week. So far, it feels just like the TP9sa, just a bit smaller. The trigger on it isn't quite as good as my TP9sa(yet), I put several hundred rounds thru it so it's not a fair comparison for the 2 yet. Honestly, the Elite trigger hasn't impressed me as much as the full size TP9 so far. But time will tell. But I still prefer the PPQ over either of them.

I won't tell you how many Taurus pistols I have owned, and still own. I'll just say that with one exception, I've never had a problem with one. I bought one of the first 4", 22 magnum revolvers Taurus put out about 8 years ago. The model 94, I believe. I had cyclinder issues with it, and couldn't put a grouping under a foot together at 10 yards. Took it back to the seller, one of our advertisers, and they gave me a full refund on it. Waited six months and ran across a used one, bought it and have had no problems with it. I owned a PF9 long enough to put a mag thru it and sold it. Nothing wrong, I just thought it had way to harsh a recoil. Yeah, I'm a wimp. Not the brand name I go for first, but not afraid to buy one. The last one I bought was for my father-in-law; a Model 85 38 special. For reasons I won't go into, I have it now. It's a nice little pistol.

Hey...if any of you Canik TP9 SA/SF owners are looking for mags for your pistols...Aim Surplus has them for 23.99. I ordered 4 Sunday night and received them this morning. They are 18 round mags, stamped for Canik TP9 Series Pistols. Made by Mec-Gar, who is the original manufacturer for Canik. Came in the Century Arms blister pak, marked for Canik TP9. Best price I've seen on these in a while. And they do work in the TP9 Elite. Which ships with 2 15 round mags.

Have they quit making .22WMR? UPDATE: NOW IN THE WILD
hipower replied to seez52's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
A wise move on your part. I don't have anywhere near the amount of ammo I'd like to have for each caliber. Not enough money or space to do it. And I do have most of the traditional pistol calibers covered, so that's not an issue. So it's rare that I won't have few boxes stashed for my shooting. I don't really remember what 22 mag was selling for back in the 80/90s, so I guess my comments aren't a true comparison. But it hasn't changed, that I know of, since then. One of the few things I've done right was to have bought extra when I could. And since I didn't really have a shortage of anything but 22, I didn't get too anxious of the shortages during all the rough years. But I paid what I considered a fair price on a case at the time; about 7 cents with shipping. -
So you have one there now? Next time I'm around I'll look. All these comments sure have me curious. If for nothing more that just to see what it's like.

Have they quit making .22WMR? UPDATE: NOW IN THE WILD

The lowest I can remember from what I bought was Dynapoints around 8-9 per box of 50. That I think was early 2000s. When I did get my PMR30, it was around 12-14 a box depending on brand and source. In my shooting times with it, 22 mag has never been cheap. At least what I'd consider cheap. But that's subjective. -
Just different tastes I guess. I always though the banana, although very good, as a bit sweeter tasting than the chocolate ones. The only ones I ever considered "too much" and not often at that, was the double-deckers. Which might just account for my current waistline.

A good pen, practical and tactical
hipower replied to A.J. Holst's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Yes it's great. I've seen Bill at craft shows for quite a while, and have gotten some of his pens for myself and for gifts. He does really nice work. This one is a new one on me though. I really like it. I have a birthday coming up. Maybe one of you would buy it for me? lol -
Interesting. I've never seen this particular Sig, the 290rs. It certainly will get a look over should I happen upon one.

Three British stooges, a bike, and an electric fence.

Farm raised, I've been bit a few times by an electric fence...but that's still very funny! -
Have they quit making .22WMR? UPDATE: NOW IN THE WILD

I bought my first 22 mag pistol around 1988 I believe. My dad was going to flea sales and tobacco barn sales(if you are country, you know what the latter is) and found a few pistols and rifles occasionally. I expressed an interest in this S&W he'd found. It was a K48-Masterpiece, 22mag with matching numbered box and papers. Even still had the Smith wax paper around the pistol. Dad tried to give it to me, but I knew he was a little tight on money back then. He'd been going thru cancer as well.(Seems to run in the family.) The only way I could get it was to tell him my father-in-law wanted it. Really hated lying to him about it, but he did need a little extra money, so I set up a price with Dad and waited a few days then paid him for it. Believe it or not, there is a point to this long tale. lol I like the cartridge so much, that I'd buy a few boxes when I'd see it. Probably had a dozen or so when I quite shooting the pistol and stopped buying them. But then...rumors of the PMR 30 started flying. So who wouldn't want a 30 round capable, 22 magnum semi-auto pistol? I started buying again. I have a few boxes lying around now. Probably enough to keep me in shooting ammo for a while. But I still look for a good price on it and might buy a few more. -
I plan to personally watch it on the tv.
-
Is it a new S&W "Bible"? I have the third edition and although lots of info, it's a bit out of date.

I'm just a bout perfectly centered between 2 of them---Donelson and Rivergate. But might just attend the opening. -
