  1. Could you elaborate on this?
  2. Never been on one side or the other with GD, there were some tunes I liked, some I didn't. But have to say, this was impressive. Whether the ensomble arrangement, or the gentle lyrics; I did like this.
  3. Thanks. Just put one in a layaway. Can't get them all at once!
  4. Saw one of these recently on American Pickers. Frank was loosing it over the find!
  5. True. But I have about all the variety I can stand for these days. lol
  6. Nope. Nope. Nope. Happy with my Smiths and Rugers.
  7. Don't try and tell me you guys haven't at least thought of trying this! You can do the pizza slices if not too wide and you watch the time you leave them in. Yes...I do know from experience. It's amazing what a guy will try when you don't have an oven.
  8. Know his name?
  9. LOVE me some booogie! Guitar, piano, or any instrument!
  10. Absolutely love this! But then I am a Zac Brown Band FAN! There's not been a bad song from them at all...except for that chicken song! lol And Alan Jackson sure don't hurt either!
  11. Buddy, please take care of yourself. We old geezers are a needed resource around here. Just got a stomach punch myself this last week. Not quite ready to talk about it yet. Might send you a message. Then again I might not. Not life threatening, but will be a possible life altering situation.
  12. Thanks. I know I'm not anywhere near Alpha Force knowledge...but I was at least questioning the 2000 meter 556 shots.
  13. Ok...is this for real?
  14. Hi guys. Just wanted to ask a couple of questions tonight. I was at a lgs in Old Hickory just a bit ago, picking up a Taurus pistol. Yeah...laugh all you want. Anyway, got to looking at a couple of rifles and found myself drawn to particular one. A T/C Compass. I think that was the name. Not a big fan of bolt action rifles, nothing against them. Just never gave them much thought. But I like the way it felt. Lop was perfect for me. Price was pretty great also...sub 300. So...what you think, is this a good deal? Good first bolt action? Would be a new caliber for me as well...6.5 Creedmore. Now be kind. I'm seriously thinking about this. I really can't say why. It just calls out. Oh...btw. The Taurus was a Model 608 38/357 ported revolver. LOL! Yep! Another in the Taurus Stable!
  15. Red if no one has claimed these, I would like the 380 and the 32 S&WLong.
  16. My late brother-in-law was a close friend of Kit, and a big fan of Kit's designs and knives. Although I never got to meet Kit in person, I do have one of his knives that was given to me by Tad. Don't ask me which one. I don't have a clue at the moment. lol It's put away and I don't really want to go dig it out. Maybe sometime and I'll put a pic out on it.
  17. Ditto. Lusting after that!
  18. At that time, I worked for Keystone Automotive as a Sales Rep. I saw that and more. The motives behind the movement were questionable at best. Good late model cars that were barely inside the criteria were traded in and destroyed. Dealers thought it would be a gold mine for them. Turned out that the sales of new vehicles actually fell for a bit, and the available supply of used cars for resales dried up quickly. That left them hurting. A good percentage of dealership sales in $$ comes from trades and resale of those trades. So when the good dependable used cars were gone, many couldn't afford the rising prices of new vehicles. The older cars were being kept longer, again, so sales numbers dropped. That was almost 20 years ago, don't offhand remember the exact year. The effects are still being felt on that.
  19. He's having entirely too much fun there!!! LOL! I Loved It!
  20. LOL. But squeamishly laughing.
  21. Sort of like the old videos we we shown in HS Health class on the effects of vd? That was a gut clinching experience!
  22. Good for you. I like to think I have influenced several as well over the years. We all need to be doing this constantly.
  23. Yes. What is going on here. Breaking glass and slashing tires? Why?
  24. Well said, Sir! Very well stated. This is exactly the situation. I think it's a life or death situation. Either life for the country we grew up in(such as it is now, anyway) or death for America and the downfall of the greatest and best example of what men could do ever to exist. And as you say Doug, when Trump wins...it will still be a probable sh--storm with all the howling and screaming from every person and group involved in the rampant insanity and disobedience that is occurring today. The riots and violence might just get worse before it gets better...now and after the election. No matter who wins.

    Retirement?

We are not destitute, but not living high on the hog these days. I reluctantly admit to spending more and saving less than I had intended in the last 20 years. But the first 10 of those, I had a good job and we managed to pay off the mortgage, and were looking forward to some really good saving years. But I got brought down several notches with cancer. Let me tell you that the financial side hurt more than the treatments and recovery. We just finished paying off the remainder of those bills last year. Company work plans are good, but when you have years of treatments, especially those that are not covered by your insurance; cancer is Expensive. Then wife retired a bit earlier than we had planned from some medical issues as well. So we are 2 oldsters living out our "golden years" on SS and some retirement savings from both our working days. After some in-law family issues that came up, we had to dip into those accounts a bit to help out. That sort of lowered the expectations of our plans. Then 2020 hit and changed the rest of our future plans. Property taxes, insurances, out of pocket med expenses, food, utilities, and gas; they pretty much take both our SS checks. Anything else comes from retirement funds. Now pre 2020 this wasn't to bad. I figured a standard of living and number of years we could do it living at then current expense levels, with my wife thinking of doing a couple days a week at perhaps a liscensed sitter. She had done that quite a bit before we married and enjoyed the job and the income. We would have a finite number of years at that spending level, and honestly I figured that with our lifestyle, the money would outlast us. Again...2020 changed that somewhat. Not sure of the safety for her to do that anymore. So we are tightening up a bit. Just like everyone else, and many here. I'm beginning to part with some of my collection, for the reasons above and some others. I will admit it's been difficult to get started. It's been a lot of years in the making, and not everyone likes what I have been willing to part with. Barring a great natural disaster, civil insurrection and worldwide collapse; we should be ok, if not better than a large percentage of the population. Now I'm not griping nor bragging, just stating our position. I know many here are much better prepared, some close to our level, and some maybe not so well. I guess I'm attempting to say that preparedness must start when you are younger. Some form a plan for life is needed. I think I half-assed it and we have done fairly well. A competent person could and should have excelled in the economy we've had for the last 40 years. Just my opinion.
