A few recent shots.... These are from Oakes Farm in Corryton. My boys love it, lots to do and its not outrageously priced. I got a couple decent shots and a couple others that would've been great, had they been in focus. :-\ The servo mode and I weren't getting along that day. Seemed like it would hold focus exactly where I wanted until an instant before I pressed the shutter. I think I forgot to change it from evaluative to point focus, that might have helped. And from the beach a couple weeks ago....

Think Atlanta or Columbia, SC looked much different in 1865?

Technically that was just David Gilmour... but it's a fantastic show.

Gun Violence in Chicago -Where is the outrage?
peejman replied to polecat's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
They make more at an alarming rate. I've read several stories that said over the course of a few years, there were more people were murdered in the Chicago area than US soldiers killed in the Iraq war. Fewer soldiers died in a war zone than people on the streets of Chicago. :shake: -
Sure that's feasible. If you're hunting in the woods in east TN, its tough to get a shot much beyond 75 yds anyway. The SKS will have 3-4x more energy, plus its just a cool old milsurp. The SKS is a "gateway" gun. They're fairly plentiful, inexpensive, easy and fun to shoot. You'll get one and think... you know, this is a pretty cool old gun. Before long, all sorts of cool old guns will begin to appear... 91/30's, K31's, Mausers, 1903's, Enfields, ... :)

If guns could talk: notches in the gun stock

That's really cool. You got some great stuff in that lot. Peep/aperture sights are really easy to use, easier than blade sights IMO. This is from the original WWII training films... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yj5KsXDflS4 -
How could you develop an opinion if you never shot one? Mini 30 over an SKS? That's just crazy talk.

Agreed that you should call twra, though it may be too late for this one. That said, I've no idea why a property owner wouldn't want a hunter to get a deer that died on their property. It'll stink for weeks and attract critters they'd much rather not have around.

Bubba, What did I do to incur your wrath?
peejman replied to Pete123's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Wow. I'd just replace all the wood. Too far gone to bother with trying to fix. I'd also whack the butt on the ground several times and make sure the hammer doesn't fall. -
IWB holster with zero (or adjustable to zero) cant?
peejman replied to Steelharp's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
The crossbreed supertuck is adjustable, not sure if you can get it all the way to zero though. -
Installing Air Lift Loader Lifter 5000 on F150 without removing tires?
peejman replied to macville's topic in General Chat
Once you jack it up, put both rear wheels (or anything sturdy) under it so if it falls it'll fall on the wheels and not you. -
Shocked at what I saw at DL station

The sad part is people like her are the only ones the sheeple ever see and as such are the basis for their opinions of such things. -
Installing Air Lift Loader Lifter 5000 on F150 without removing tires?
peejman replied to macville's topic in General Chat
At 3500 lbs and 60/40 you've got about 500 lbs on the tongue, which means about 600 lbs on the rear axle. Add that to whatever you're putting in the bed. -
Installing Air Lift Loader Lifter 5000 on F150 without removing tires?

How big of a utility trailer do you have that's making the truck squat significantly? Can you rearrange what's on the trailer so there's not quite so much tongue weight? Would a weight distribution hitch work better? As for jack stands, you'll have a hard time finding jack stands tall enough that won't be rated to WAY more than necessary. Most will be rated at 3 tons, which means (theoretically) you could sit the entire truck on one of them. Just chock the front tires so it can't roll either direction. -
When in doubt sniff WW2 German holsters! : ) : ) : )

Cool stuff. -
My smoker is very simple... it's one of the cheap Brinkman smoker grills. With a couple simple modifications, it works quite well. I also use lump charcoal.... big brown bag, Cowboy brand I think. It burns noticeably hotter and lasts longer than traditional (Kingsford) briquettes. Whatever you do, don't use the "match light" charcoal unless you like food that smells like kerosene. :yuck: I soak fist sized hunks of wood in water for a day or two prior to cooking and put them on the coals for the smoke. I've used pecan, apple, hickory, cherry, poplar, maple, .... So far, pecan is my favorite wood to use because it soaks up water quite well and hence lasts longer before burning up. Cherry is my least favorite for the same reason... it's so dense it doesn't soak up much water at all and tends to burn instead of smoldering. I've never been able to tell much difference in flavor from one wood to another.

I got a shoehorn with a pair of wingtips I bought many years ago. The shoehorn certainly helps get them on since the sides are quite stiff, but once they're on, they're quite comfortable. I suppose the "younger generation" can use a putty knife instead. ;)

Nope, he needs to make better hits. There's plenty of space where the human body can be perforated and keep right on rolling. There's a few spots where it'll stop pdq.

Be aware that you're not allowed to transport untreated wood in or out of several TN counties due to the potential for spreading unwanted critters. http://www.dontmovefirewood.org/the-problem/state-state-information/tennessee.html The smell is the combination of the wood and the meat (typically pork) cooking.

I think you severely underestimate your fellow man.

Doesn't exist in the way you're thinking. The text reads... "no religious test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States." SCOTUS has said... In sum, citizens are free to embrace or reject a faith, any support for religion - financial or physical - must be voluntary, and all religions are equal in the eyes of the law with no special preference or favoritism. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Separation_of_church_and_state_in_the_United_States And yes, any legitimate source for this story?

Sitting in the stand before the season can also help the deer get used to your presence. Assuming it's on private property, leave some clothes or shoes or something up there. Then your smell is normal.

If there's any doubt what-so-ever, I wouldn't do it. There's way too many unpleasant consequences.
