  1. I typically put a pin into the flywheel to stop it's rotation, or pull a spark plug and feed soft nylon rope into the cylinder to stop the crank from turning.
  2. I have one on order ATM, can let you know what I think in a few weeks when it comes in if you like.

    Go Vols!

I'm not even a sportsball fan and it was an entertaining game to watch. It seemed every time there was even the smallest hole in TN's defense there was a Vandy player standing in it catching a football. Untitled by Erik, on Flickr
  4. I actually prefer rural king, had some great deals on guns and mags last couple black fridays. IMHO they are closer to a co-op than a Tractor supply.
  5. If it's mud I generally just rinse it off, that said my glass is all pretty weather proof. The reason I don't use lens tissues or brushes to get mud off is b/c I've scratched some sensitive coatings on expensive lenses before.
  6. TN HCP records were sealed a few years back. Employers other than law enforcement won't readily have access to it. http://www.wrcbtv.com/story/21581879/house-passes-bill-to-close-handgun-carry-records
  7. They were forced to by the CARB & the EPA. You can't sell "fuel containers" now without spouts that stop flow automatically to "prevent spills and contain vapors". Completely disregarding the fact that most of the new "EPA approved" cans spill as much if not more fuel when attempting to refuel any actual equipment. Wavian (the ones LCC sells that are manufactured in Latvia) chose to make all their U.S. cans CARB compliant by forcing the purchase of a carb compliant spout with each can. Still great cans albeit with "redesigned" spouts that belong in the nearest dumpster. Deutsch Optik found another NATO supplier to purchase from in bulk via Poland though rather than a spout redesign for US import this manufacturer chose to emblazon each exported can with “Not for Fuel Use” which got them around the "fuel can legislation" for now at least. I fully expect CARB to eventually amend the regulation, and EPA to enforce it nationally to not allow “Not for Fuel Use” cans into the US. If you value being able to move fuel around in a real container that can be lashed down, turned upside down, and handle altitude changes without having to worry about spillage or vapor leakage you may want to buy now before it's too late. If you don't already have one deutsch still has the non EPA spouts for use with these cans as well. http://deutscheoptik.com/flexi-jerry-can-spout.html
  8. You can still get the european produced ones without being forced to buy the goofy EPA spout from deutsch optic. makes the cost per can MUCH more reasonable, especially for storage since you don't particularly need 1 spout per can. http://deutscheoptik.com/20-liter-jerry-can-set-of-four.html
  9. Reasonably quick and easy Currywurst Curry Ketchup 1 cup of Tomato Ketchup 4 teaspoons of Curry Powder 2 teaspoons of Sweet Paprika (sub hot paprika if you like some spice) 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire Sauce 2 teaspoons of Mild Honey 1 teaspoons of Chili Powder 1 teaspoon of Water Marinate sliced Smoked Sausage in the curry ketchup for at least 24 hours and serve over fresh french fries. (I use McDonalds fries b/c McCurry wurst was my favorite) Currywurst by Erik, on Flickr Black pepper salmon and lemon dill creme bites. Slow cook a salmon filet to taste either in smoker or sous vide. After softening, prepare a small container of cream cheese by stirring in 1 tsp of fresh lemon juice and finely minced fresh dill to taste. Spread prepared cream onto crackers or chips, and top each with salmon and garnish with fresh cracked black pepper. Salmon by Erik, on Flickr
  10. While I feel it's a bit too long compared to my older ones, I have no doubt the pile I turned in in the last few days before 41f took effect will be well over a year if not two before they see daylight again. I got anther pair submitted 7/2 and 7/3 via efile, then a stack I mailed after the eforms site crashed. I have a bad feeling it's going to be a LONG wait for those paper forms.
  11. SBR form 1 submitted 4/17/2016, Approved 10/11/2016 (8:09 AM) Suppressor form 1 submitted 4/18/2016, Approved 10/06/2016 (10:20 PM)
  12. IIRC my FIL like Gander b/c they will price match Rural King's price on firearms, which is often very good though almost 30 min further drive from their house.
  13. Absolute best budget ears I've found(right around $100 for the combo) I liked the howard leight's ok but found them uncomfortable for longer periods of wearing. https://amzn.com/B00NAG4WX2 https://amzn.com/B00DHVXKVA (the gel cups make a world of difference if wearing for hours with glasses) Best "cost is of no object" ears I've used -($250-$300) https://amzn.com/B00QV33ZRK I had a set of Pro ears for a while but fund the larger cups interfered with many of my stocks. Otherwise they were also great.
  14. "Ships from and sold by Sportsman's Outlet LLC" Everyone with them in stock is a 3rd party seller. Apparently Amazon hasn't been able to get as many as they were originally promised from the vendor.(Vortex)
  15. That was the first of over 1200 amazon orders that they haven't delivered the goods on in my 9 years shopping with them. It was a fantastic deal and I really looked forward to receiving it but apparently it wasn't meant to be. . . This afternoon I received this- "Hello,Due to a lack of availability, we will not be able to obtain the following item(s) from your order: "Vortex Optics PST-416F1-M Viper PST 4-16x50 FFP Riflescope with EBR-1 MRAD Reticle"We've canceled the item(s) and apologize for the inconvenience. We must also apologize for the length of time it has taken us to reach this conclusion." After a few minutes on the phone with CS they did make good on the heartache of missing the deal after months of patiently waiting to receive my item. "I've issued a $100.00 promotional certificate to your Amazon.com account, which will automatically apply the next time you order an eligible item sold and shipped by Amazon.com. The promotional certificate doesn't apply to items offered by other sellers on the Amazon.com website and won't cover the purchase of gift cards, sales tax, gift wrap, or additional shipping costs." Maybe this Black Friday I'll actually snag one.
  16. Asked the wife, since she's in publishing and she stated it depends on the venue. At a bookstore that would be really odd, but for example some community libraries may not allow the author to sell on site, but would allow the signing.
  17. The fact the pilots didn't stick around or file a police report leads me to believe they were paparazzi with no right to be over either property as low as they were likely flying. IMHO Good kill.
  18. Interested, pending release of schedule and location of the build party.
  19. It varies heavily from department to department from what I've seen working with them. Some department's/counties run their own maintenance department, others contract with a garage/dealership. Each's quality of used car varies greatly based on maintenance schedule and size/type of area served. With several, cars that have a lot of life left might be passed to other city organizations such as the fire department or codes enforcement. I will say that the quality of car I see around Brentwood, Franklin, and the WCSD is NOTHING similar to what I'm seeing at our dealership in IL. I think a great deal to do with that is partly the more affluent area but has a great deal more to do with the state leadership and the budget example they set. IL has operated for a year with no set state budget. . . . http://mercatus.org/statefiscalrankings
  20. Depending on size and rigidity you may need a pair of padlocks, but yes that is one way to do it. I prefer to use larger cases that contain my clothes, ect AND my pistol so all my belongings get the benefit of the real padlock, while meeting the guideline that firearms must be stored in locked hard-sided cases.
  21. I drop a pistol in each of my pelican cases full of photo gear every time I fly commercial, as well as in any hard-sided luggage I take. This allows me to declare the firearms, and put REAL padlocks on all of my baggage. While a slight inconvenience it's worth having everything show up at the other end of the flight every time. The one time the airport down in west palm beach thought they had "lost" my bag they found it REALLY QUICK once I stated to the TSA officer that it had a declared pistol in it and was a pelican case the size of a typical carry on bag.(I.E. not exactly easy to misplace)
  22. Our dealership sells new ones and takes old in on trade. Most patrol cars traded off are so worn and wrecked/repaired they are barely worth scrap value. Occasionally though you get one that was babied by a chief or detective who didn't drive as much. I got several really clean crown vics last year when the local PD up there went to the police package explorers as the bosses all wanted the new SUVs. For the Crown Vics at least all the "police" upgrades were available in other trims as well such as the taxi/heavy duty package marketed to fleet and livery companies, the few things completely unique to the P71 Police variant such as the different rear end ratios and composite driveshaft in later models aren't really that useful in day to day use. I'm counting the days until they start turning in the explorers we sold them in the last few years, since I love the racks between the front seats for a shotgun and M4 combo, and the redesigned aux. accessory electrical system.
  23. Wow, why the rush to tear out factory installed AC just b/c you don't want to fix it ATM?
