Shooting down drones over your property!

Oh, I like this. It has a snowball in hell chance of passing ... but I still like it.

I have my dad's old goose gun ... a double barrel 32" full choke 10 gauge ... that should work nicely. 馃檪

Didn鈥檛 something like this pass, or was at least brought up, in Tennessee 10 or so years ago? 聽I do recall it being discussed.聽

A drone at 200 feet is going to be quite a challenge for any kind of shotgun.

Tss with flight control.聽

Anybody have a range finder accessory on their shotgun?聽 I guess you'd have to convince a judge that you have calibrated eyesight.

I like the idea, but I don't like the thought of people who live just outside the city on 陆 acres of land shooting at random things in the sky. 聽 Now if you're out in the country on 100+ acres of land, blast away, no one should be flying over your land.

Shooting down someone else's drone, even over your property, is still illegal.聽 Probably shouldn't be, but it is.

As much as I want this to happen and enjoy the show, I think it will land somebody in jail.聽

A very difficult task with even with full auto crew served weapons and even harder with hand held M16s. If the drone is taking any evasive maneuvers at all it鈥檚 close to impossible.聽
I have attempted it on military ranges at Ft. Bliss,TX. 聽Way back in the mid 1980s it was a humbling experience.聽

Now of course a military drone is different you could probably shoot down your average selfie drone with a daisy red rider!聽

The thing I'm seeing more about in various writings and videos is drone vs. drone interdiction, which becomes even more possible as AI is woven into the mix.

I have heard about the technology to jam the signal but have never seen it. I know they had drone detectors at various facilities, but it just alerts and doesn't stop it.聽

This was an interesting video I watched with my kids recently. It had some information about a drone that is used to smash other drones out of the sky.聽

Colion Noir just did a video on a similar bill in Florida:

The problem is that drones are considered aircraft and are under the jurisdiction of the FAA, so if you shoot one down you could be facing Federal charges.

Incidentally the "aircraft" thing is also why there is almost no drone manufacturing done in the US.

I have a few dozen RC airplanes, including a couple of drones, a few of which have cameras. I don't use any of them professionally, and I often fly my drones over my own rural property. I'm sure that my drones have often flown over my neighbors' properties, but I doubt if any of them have ever noticed. The vast majority of RC pilots are just having fun, not "spying" on anyone, and not doing any harm. I do recognize, of course, that the potential for misuse is there and the sound of a drone can be annoying. (It sure is to my dog, Katy!)聽 But then I find the sound of loud exhausts annoying, and I often hear them passing on the road near my house.

Shooting at a flying drone in a populated area would be a cure far worse than the disease itself.聽 I'm pretty sure my neighbors would be a lot more concerned about shot falling on their heads than they would be about a drone passing overhead.聽 At least I would be.

Fly over my place no worries, one flyover ok, two times, well i'm looking, three times i'm probably calling the cops, if you hover, I might do something about it.

As RED333 said, if it is someone who is obviously just flying around and having a good time, no issues. 聽If it is a drone following me or my family around, or worse, looking in a window / over my house. 聽I might get more concerned and take matters into my own hands.

Drone fliyng over house at maybe 50 ft or more, not a problem. Drones looking in windows , maybe scoping out storage buildings, big problem. Will consider them a threat.

The whole drone thing is interesting...

I'm satisfied there is some readily available jamming equipment out there that can probably be homemade by any hard core ham radio or electronics tec...

The camera drones most people have are line of sight or near line of sight controlled.聽 When they loose their signal, they go home or land...聽 I'm satisfied that some enterprising souls will market an " anti drone " property protection system n make money; alternately, they can just show up as needed ALA " Ghost Busters " ...

The " shooting em down idea " is great because it's bombastic, all American , individualistic, n fun ta think about; but as I remember, you don't own the space above your place, the Gubt does... That's the problem...聽 Shoot a drone, win a prize unless the Gubt says it's ok, which they most likely ain't gonna do.

Ya could catch em with a net if they get too close n confiscate em...聽

I can't wait ta see how this all plays out...

In the mean time, my riot is loaded up with some high brass turkey loads, just in case it's deemed an " enemy attack " drone has been launched against the ole homestead..

I ain't saying what's gonna happen, but, when the time comes, the affected machines and other beings will know.

watch the skies ...

leroy.
