Yeah, that's what I'm talkin' about. I skimmed your blog earlier and saw those. I'd like to see darker grain lines but otherwise that's gorgeous.

Actually, it's not Damascus, it's pattern welded steel.

But it's still quite pretty.

( I spent quite a few years on a sword forum, and read more lectures on Damascus and pattern welded that you'd believe. And no, I don't remember much of it past one not being the same as the other. :))

I'm not sure they are claiming this is actual Damascus steel. More like a Damascus pattern or finish.

The art of real Damascus steel was lost long before our time. Many have attempted to duplicate the process, but all have failed.

Its not damascus. 1. Go ask a smitty to buld you a damascus slide for your gun. 2 Watch him laugh or 3. listen to him ask you what is wrong with your head. LOL. It is a cool look though, I have never seen it before.

Well, I guess we have a few "experts" here.... :)

Ok, let me state for the record that NO! The slide pictured was not made 400 years ago, nor can I think of any metal/blacksmiths making "real" Damascus in a commercial capacity.

The slide you see here is regarded as the best money can buy (think 6-12 month wait and 1000.00 to get started) and is a love it or hate it type of thing.

I love it, thus I am having my personal Hero 1911 built using this slide.

Here is a good article that discusses the origins of the Damascus slides offered by Caspian Arms
