Sig Sauer MPX-C sexiness

I saw this at SHOT... definitely cool engineering, but I have to wonder about what kind of market research SIG did before building this.  I'm just not sure what the target market is supposed to be.  The subgun is all but gone in military use, and rapidly fading out of LE use as well.  I'm sure there will be some buyers for a US-legal version, but even if they do manage to get one imported, it will be expensive, and competing against rifle caliber stuff just in like the Mil/LEO market.  One possible thought is that the Russians have been doing some pretty cool stuff with AP 9mm ammo... it's possible that such ammo would allow for a gun like this to compete with PDWs like the P90 and MP7... I don't know.  I wouldn't kick one out of my gun safe, but I'm perfectly happy with my 9mm AR pattern gun.

I don't see Sig releasing this to the market in its current form.  There's no way the ATF is going to bless that as kosher.  That's not a muzzle break - that's a monocore baffle stack for a suppressor

What's that old saying?  "If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck?"

Parts are parts.  Welded or not, you or I would be prosecuted for illegal manufacture if we were to hang one of these off the end of an AR.  There's no way the ATF is going to let them go on this.  It makes it too easy for someone to slip a piece of 1.25" ID tube on the end of it.

That said, I like it.  I might even be willing to part with the tax on two stamps to get a SBR'd one.

Pretty sure these guys proved that to be false.
Which was their intent the WHOLE time. Like Chucktshoes said, it just requires a form 4 transfer.
More and more I become wholly convinced that Sig has entire department devoted to giving the ATF the finger.

Every time I see this stupid thread come up, I start to drool thinking it's finally been released...Only to have my hopes dashed.

I've really come to love and accept the dedicated 9mm AR.  Using common 9mm Glock mags across platforms is a big plus in our house.

That said, I'm sure Sig is going to get some of my money when this thing finally hits the street.

Yep, I want a dedicated carbine...not a different upper, mag blocks, buffer, etc.

Most of those don't work to my reliability standards.

I'm not opposed to one that uses Glock mags.  What are you using?  Most of what I've seen doesn't cut it.

PS.  Still digging the pink hat.

Unfortunately the "formerly red" hat has gone onto its final reward.

I use a DDLES lower (now QuarterCircle 10 - I guess they bought the tooling post litigation). It's been reliable. I know some of the early Lone Wolf receivers had issues.

I like it enough that I've been thinking about doing a .45 build and using the MagPul MagEx extensions for the G21 mags.

I have no evidence to suggest that it was ever red, but you were manly enough to wear it anyways...

"Your Honor, I submit MacGyver's Avatar as Exhibit A."

If you're behind that rifle in my avatar, I'd argue you can wear a hat in any color you please...:)
