What's the most painful gun you have fired?

I saw a for sale item that got me thinking about this.

My AR-50 kicks less than a 270. My 300 weatherby mag and 375 ruger both have a pretty good thump. But the most painful thing I have shot was a turkery barrel for my T/C Encore.

I took it out one day to sight it in and put it up for sale the next day. I am a big guy and not very sensitive to recoil but this thing knocked the snot out of me. I fired a total of 9 turkey load that day and never fired it again. The sob actually drew blood:dropjaw:.

So, what was your most unpleasant firearm to shoot?

I put a few 3.5in mag loads through my stock Benelli Nova once. That hurt. Past that, .38spl+Ps in my S&W 442 are the worst I've experienced in a handgun.

Handgun wise, I'd say probably some 158gr +P through a S&W air-weight snubbie. Rifle wise, the first few times I shot a Stevens 200 in .308 before I learned how to properly shoulder it.

Mine are prob .357's out of a 340PD scandium (spelling?) frame Smith and Wesson and a .50 Desert Eagle, I dont know why the DE was so bad, I can shoot a .500 S&W with no prob at at, but the DE was brutal. As far a rifles my .338 Remington Ultra Mag with punish you after 2 or 3 shots.

mossberg...850? with full choke barrel, and 3.5 inch turkey loads. He didn't tell me they were 3.5 inch shells, I was thinking 2 3/4, so i wasn't holding it tight enough :(

410/45 Derringer. One of the crappy ones made in Ducktown TN not long ago,

small, lightweight single shot. The 410 had almost no recoil. The 45 long Colt

drew blood. Bbl was so short I shot wounded Mallard in the head at three feet

he turned an looked at me and started to swim away.

My experience is limited on some of the big boy toys but the one that hurt me the most was an old school single shot 12 gauge shotgun that my grandfather had since dirt was invented.

Old black powder rifle with the curvy brass but plate, pull the trigger and about a 3 second hesitation then BOOM just as I started to lower off my shoulder. Pointy brass hurts.
