Thanks. It's the first new car I've gotten for myself in 36 years. Started looking at used and the prices were so close to new that it didn't make sense to buy used. I do keep my cars a very long time so that was a factor as well going new.

Sorry for the thread highjack with the Subaru's.

There's no thread hijacking here , I like all Subaru's , Hondas and Toyotas .

My wife's next car will most likely be a Subaru. What they offer at their price point is exceptional. Plus the rear seat room on an Outback is insane, even at 6' I am comfortable.

Well, this is my new 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. It has butt coolers. Now, I know that sounds ridiculous, but once you feel a cool leather seat, you can't ever go back. I got the turbo AWD ultimate package. We got a great deal and with a 10 year bumper to bumper warranty and a lifetime power train, I'm pretty much going to drive it into the ground!

 PS: no Teva's allowed.

Our older car's air conditioner finally kicked the bucket after 14 years in 2014. Last year I dismantled all the lines , compressor , and condenser. Now I have so much space under the hood it only takes me 4 minutes to change the oil. SWEET . I only have to go underneath the car to get to the oil drain plug. If you do all your own work I highly recomend yanking all that AC junk out if you aint going to use it . You will have so much room ! To get to the filter I just reach down into the engine compartment and take it out. I dont even need to use ramps anymore to elevate the car. There's the filter looking down into the engine compartment from above. Easy as heck

I don't need ramps to change the oil and filter on my Land Rover and the A/C is still intact. :P

No thanks. I get enough of that in the winter.  But it doesn't take long for the heated seats to take care of that.

Oh, I have heated seats too. And a heated steering wheel. But in the summer, riding, a cooled seat is an amazing feeling! If you're at the event in Sparta coming up, look for me. I'll let you sit and test it out, it's pretty awesome in 95 degree weather!

My new(er) ride has cooled seats.  I never thought I needed or wanted such a thing, now I'll never own another vehicle that doesn't have them.  It's amazing what we don't miss until we know such things exist ...

A friend of mine got a truck with cooled seats, and yes, they're awesome when you're sitting in them. They're not so awesome when you're in the back seat with hot air blowing across your knees.

He also has a Cobra and we've spent a bit of time thinking about how to install the cooling system in those seats. Heat isn't a problem...

I've got you beat big time on access to the oil filter. See below. The filter is on the right hand side of the engine bay, staring you in the face. emoji3.png

I DIDNT have to "ditch" the AC , its a 16 year old car and the cost of new AC would be worth more than the car. So that's why I made this post just explaining all the room that got cleared up under the hood and around the engine from the wires , pipes and plumbing. I wouldn't do it with a newer one , just older ones like this.
