Those things are suprisingly flexible when they encounter a whole house vacuum. They fit right in the nozzle, and hit at least 70 mph on the way to the garage. You can hear them hit every bend in the pipe....tinka-tinka-tinka-tinka-tink!2 points

It took more than a few peckerheads to reelect the line of government leadership that has run that city into a post-apocalyptic wasteland. There are good people in California too, but the idiots that outnumber them will succeed in destroying that state as well.2 points

I have a good friend in Detroit who I'm truly concerned about...he's an elderly black man; retired postal worker, who is heavily involved in the same car community/shows/etc that I participate in...it seems no matter where I go for a convention or regional show he's there (Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, etc)...he's 78 years old and one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. My point is, there are good people in Detroit and I just hate that fact the the city has let itself go...I haven't been to Detroit in a long, long time but I have always enjoyed it what I have been there....it's just a shame...I don't know what else to say. ;(2 points

My boys (10 and 14) took a couple of does Saturday afternoon. The older son shot the smaller doe and his response was, "It looked bigger in the scope." LOL None the less, meat in the freezer!!! Both shots were dead on at about 150 yards. The 10 yr old was using a Remington 700 Youth in .243 and the 14 yr old was using a Remington 700 SPS in .308. I am truly blessed.1 point

I don't know who the guy is, but I found the website during my typical mindless wandering about the World Wide Web. It pretty much sums up my philosophy on self-defense. If you have to fight, fight to win, and that means fighting dirty if necessary. http://www.nononsenseselfdefense.com/knifelies.html1 point

Whether you like Rush or not, you should be damn happy he came along. Until his show there was no such thing as conservative talk radio and without conservative talk radio this country would have gone to hell in a hand basket 15 or 20 years ago because all we would have would be the BS coming out of CNN and their ilk. Even with all those those who have followed Rush's lead, conservative thought is still being overpowered by all the other outlets which are all liberal biased. Rush has had problems and has overcome them...a radio talk show host who lost his hearing and still does his job after very painful surgery which helps him function (but not really hear)...a man who became addicted to pain killers (like that's never happened to anyone we know) and overcame it...hell; we've got accused murderers and wife beaters playing pro sports and everybody loves them but I guess we just can't forgive Rush can we...I guess it sucks for him that he doesn't play in the NFL or NBA.1 point

This. Don't order a stuck case kit from Midway when you can drive to Lowe's or Home Depot and get what you need the same day for less cash. I've had to do it for myself and another time for a friend who was about to send his die back to the manufacturer. Will1 point

Ultimately our elected members of congress will vote along party lines on major bills. Voting for the person not the party sounds good but will usually mean the party with the most members will have enough votes to pass the big bills. I have struggled with this with the RINOS. The Tea Party putting the heat on the RINOS with primary challengers have really helped a lot. I think it is best to change the party that is closest to your values for the better rather than to abandon them for a third party that may leave the party further from your values in power. What would our country look like if Ross Perot had not taken a bunch of votes from George Bush Sr. We would not have had Bill Clinton for 8 years, I was no fan of Sr. but his values where much closer to mine than Clintons. Ross Perot left no lasting movement that has grown stronger over the years. He was not the beginning of anything, all he did was assist Bill Clinton to the win.1 point

There was a strange absence of people this weekend. You could actually walk around but still had a few muscle there way past me and my crutches. Prices seemed to be about normal. As usual DLM37015, David, had the best prices in the show. He also had more of a selection than anyone else. And as usual I seen him help a bunch different people with his knowledge and kindness. Hard to be 175 SMK's for $10/100 or powder for $90/8 pound. I am honestly amazed he isn't sold out by the end of each show. Great prices and great selection from a great guy. Dolomite1 point

The one on the left is Bones. I trapped him as a tiny kitten using tuna for bait 13 1/2 years ago. He was skin and bones so the name stuck. The one on the right is Sinatra. She loves her Uncle Bones. She showed up at the front door 3 years ago. She was full of personality and had blue eyes so I names her after 'Ol Blue Eyes. This is Diesel. She is about a year and half old. Somewhat of a contortionist when she sleeps. She purrs loudly all night long- sorta sounding like a diesel. I have a serious soft spot for Torties.1 point

You need to push that range out to 25 yards and use a GOOD solid rest to test loads. In my opinion shooting for group is like peeing in the dark- you may or may not have good luck. At 10 yards I don't get very excited about accuracy or lack thereof. I worry more about function.1 point

Party is in there in a pretty big way. There are only two organizations that can drag up the billion dollar entry fee. I happen to like Romney, and really dislike Obama. With that said, I would vote Republican if the candidates were faceless. The Democrats, as a party, need to go away for a good while.1 point

For most people, it has nothing to do with "Party"; it has to do with removing a dangerous, inept, America-hating socialist with delusions of godhood from the Presidency...a man who WILL do whatever he has to do to install his agenda (and his agenda is anathema to everything this country is supposed to be). Have you watched the video this thread is about? If you haven't then I encourage you to do so.1 point

Please tell me you weighed the charges and did not rely on the Lee dipper chart. The chart is notorious for being off. If you are not weighing you are asking for trouble. Now if you use the dipper and weigh the charges to see where they fall that is fine. Dolomite1 point

If you watched the same debate that I did, Romney said he will not change the Laws, Osama said he would re instate the AR band Believe me when I say that this Idiot we have in office is doing everything he can to make our country a 3rd world and give our super power status away, sadly Gun control is not the only thing about BHO that scares the ever living crap out of me1 point

Based on some things I read during the primaries, I think if Romney wins and we do not have RINO control in Congress, Romney will have the potential to be more Reaganesque than GWB was. I know many said GWB was more like Reagan than his dad was. Outside his War on Terror, I don't think GWB was *that* Reaganesque. (In terms of character, I think GWB was every bit the man Reagan was.) Also, one is defined by their circumstances/situation and how they react to it/resolve it. Had we not had 9/11, GWB would have had very little "urgent" or critical work to do. He may have had more time to make more RINO mess. If Romney wins, his task is to remove the government shackles that's grappling our economy. That's the only real solution, and he knows it. I don't think that is possible to accomplish while RINOs keep stomping on us. I think/hope the RINOs will have to get in line with common sense. Post-Romney, or Romney 2nd term, and even further out than that, RINOs scare me. The Tea Party must keep their presence strong. RINOs are as despicable as the liberal Dems. It's like they want to be buddy-buddy with the Dems. They are just politically-correct duechebags.1 point

You mention you're willing to drive to Kentucky, are you willing to drive to Knoxville? ORSA has a 1,000 yard range where you can shoot pretty much anything except 50 bmg. Also benchrest, indoor pistol, IDPA, skeet, etc. It's a private range, membership is $150 a year. Best bargain on the planet.1 point

I have called LE about vicious dogs. They referred me to the SPCA. They said they would not respond to a vicious dog. The recommended I kill it. So the next time I seem the dogs on my property I took some shots. Fortunately for the dogs and their owners I missed. I spoke to the owners after their dogs had killed animals of ours. Their response, "dogs will be dogs". My response, "they won't be dogs anymore if I see them on my property again". You have the right to protect yourself and your animals with any means needed to remove the threat. Dolomite1 point

One widely available species in our woodlands right now is the common persimmon. Pick the real ripe mushy orange ones from the tree or pick them off the ground. They are delicious eaten fresh, used in cooking or made into wine. But hurry though, or the Deer will beat you to them! Dave S1 point

Regarding my grandfather's 1911in the first post, after some more research [link] it appears that this 1911 is not a Gold Cup but rather one of the original National Match run produced between 1932 and 1940 per the serial number on the slide. Amazing.1 point

Robert, I concur completely. I honestly can't tell you what draws me to the 1911 other than nostalgia and just the feel of one in my hand. My brain tells me there are far better choices for a defensive handgun, and therefore every day I carry one of those far better choices instead of a 1911. However my heart tells me that the 1911 has history... a pedigree... and is as American as baseball and apple pie, so I constantly lust for others to add to my collection. It's not like I'd carry another even if I buy it, but something draws me back to them time and time again. Heavy, short on capacity, and not necessarily the most tolerant of neglect. A more elegant weapon for a more civilized age, perhaps. Love me some 1911's.1 point

ATF has ruled many times that the attachment (temporary or permanent) of a shoulder stock to a handgun makes it a Short-Barreled Rifle, and requires registration and payment of the $200 tax. There are some exceptions to this rule for Curio & Relic firearms like the Mauser Broomhandle, Luger, and early Browning High Powers with stock attachment lugs. Adding his butt-pad makes the Rossi Mare's Leg into a firearm intended to be fired from the shoulder. It's a silly law and a perfect example of why ignorant politicians should not write gun laws. But, it IS the law and this fellow has created a Short-Barreled Rifle.1 point

I really wish they could do an instant background like other states do backgrounds for firearms. Or have a "frequent buyer" program where after your initial background you are not subjected to a full blown background again unless something has changed. Imagine the revenue if a person could walk in and walk out the same day with their suppressor. I bet they would collect 10x the revenue in the first month over the previous 10 years. In this day and age of electronics it would be very, very simple. It would require less manpower, less labor costs and less storage space for the records. Dolomite1 point
