  1. ....and you can. If you don't want to provide parking or allow vehicles period, you can very well do that. However if you do choose to allow other's vehicles onto your property...whatever legally kept items that they have in said vehicle shouldn't be any concern of yours as long as it is out of site and stays within the vehicle.

  2. I OC alot anymore. Most people don't even notice that I have a gun. I try to be a polite person and not be a dick. I have had a few people ask me about my weapon and a few people that have made jokes like "don't piss off the big guy with the gun". A lot of people tell me I just look like i should be carrying a gun, whatever that means. The only time i was hassled was buy a old hippy lady that works at a local cigar/liquor store. The place is not posted and I happen to know the owner through business. She asked why I was carrying a gun. I gave her the usual line and she told me that she didn't like that being in her store. I reminded her she didn't own that store and that I would discuss it with her boss. She shut up pretty quickly. When I went to check out buying a pack of cigars she asked to see my ID to make sure I was old enough. I showed her my carry permit too so she could see that I was able to carry my firearm. She made some sort of remark along the lines of you shouldn't be able to carry that gun at your age. I was like well you shouldn't be able to wear a tube top at 50 and promptly paid for my items and left.

  6. I don't know much about handmade knives, but I know good work when I see it! After doing a little browsing on etsy.com, I found some knives that I just had to buy! The first one I got from www.bloodrootblades.com http://www.tumblr.co...7k21Hql01r1pilc This thing is awesome. It's super sharp and is a perfect size for everyday carry. I can't attest to it's ability to hold an edge because I haven't put it through it's paces yet, but it's made from a Nicholson file, so it should be decent steel. I'm equally impressed with the sheath as I am the knife itself. Very well made, and a perfectly snug fit. My second knife, I got from a guy up in Michigan. He doesn't have a website, but here is a picture of it. http://img1.etsystat...N.324997241.jpg I can't tell my opinions of it yet, but it's suppose to arrive tomorrow! If you want to check out his stuff, here is a link to his etsy page. http://www.etsy.com/...ref=seller_info Anyways, check these guys out and see what you think. I love functional pieces of art

  7. Who's raising property taxes? The State doesn't have anything to do with it.

  9. Yep they seem to have removed the hour requirement completely. I read the Eagle Workbook just now and it says explicitly that there is no hour requirement and noone can tell you there is. What did you all do for your project? For my project, the city of Millington (just outside of Memphis) needed to inform their residents of the importance of smoke detectors. The Millington Fire Department had some that they would install free of charge if a home didn't have one. My job was organize a group of scouts to visit every address in the Millington city limits. I got Kinkos to donate copies of literature for us. I got every troop in the area to assist on a few Saturdays by going door to door. And the city didn't have enough smoke detectors either so I got Wal Mart, Lowes, Home Depot and Home Quarters (WOW that was a long time ago) to donate some to the cause. I think I ended up getting around 300 donated detectors. I worked with the Fire Chief to get a listing of every address in the city. Once I had all of the literature, the addresses and the volunteers, I broke the city up into small sections and assigned each troop a section. Over the course of a month, we hit something like 15,000 addresses. My job, after the volunteers had talked to them, was to go to the houses that needed a smoke detector and schedule a time for a fireman to come by and install the detector. When all was said and done, the fire chief believed that there were less than 5 percent of homes left without a working smoke detector. I absolutely loved my project and was very proud of the entire thing.

  10. Everywhere but work and at home: A Rock Island Armory 1911-CS in .45 ACP carried in an Old Faithful Premium IWB Holster Kit. At home: Same gun, some cheap OWB paddle holster that's super comfortable. At work: I carry the burden of knowing that either the company doesn't care if a disgruntled employee/customer/random stranger goes on a killing spree or the company hasn't thought through their policy to realize their rules aren't protection from that. And a knife.

  12. Agreed, but define the parameters of "crap." Are you talking about the quality of the glass itself, and the image it produces, or the 5.6 speed instead of a very nice (and very expensive) 1.8?

  13. I have thought this over many times, I wouldn't want anyone telling me who or what I have to allow on my property but you are correct that I can't search anyones vehicle on my property, all I can do is tell them to leave my property. You are also correct that your vehicle is your private property therefore absolutly no one has any right to search it unless they are city, county, state, or federal police with probable cause of a crime or warrant. No company should be allowed to force any employee to sign any contract or agreement to search any private vehicle on their property no more can they force any employee to support a particular political candidate or subscribe to a particular religion. You still have your constitutional rights no matter what company you work for. I know the old rule that they can fire you for what ever reason but try to fire someone because they're black or hispanic and see what happens.

  15. Sorry to hear about your troubles. True words, though, about coughing up enough dough for a good carry gun. You can probably get away with skimping on most other areas (HD shotgun, paperpuncher rifle, trunk monkey) but that carry gun has to be 100% reliable. While you're in this vulnerable state of disappointment and frustration, I have to suggest a J-frame or Ruger SP101 as a pocket gun that will never let you down. Hope you have better luck with whatever replacement you choose.

  17. I'm no longer a FL resident so I'm not worried about sitting on a jury in this case. Regarding the personal attacks, the passive manner in which it is going on is pretty transparent. I'm not trying to debate anything that's come out as "evidence" other than the original transcript of Zimmerman's call. Everything else is suspect. My life experience and sense tell me that he instigated the incident. If I had to bet 100 bucks one way or the other that is what I would bet on. That's all.

  18. The only thing NBC is sorry for is that they got caught. Yes, this is an actual crime. I wonder if any law enforcement will look into it. Doubtful. Apparently, the so-called "media" can say whatever it wants and call it 'news'. I suppose they could even get away with yelling FIRE in a theater if they called it a news story. That's exactly what happened here. They had an agenda and tried to manipulate an outcome by falsifying data (audio recording). That is a crime.
