  1. Money comes in to play for sure when it comes to what you “need”. Range toy or something you can depend on if situation is serious. For more budget friendly options but not crap optics I’d recommend: Primary Arms red dots Vortex Sparc Holosun Sig Romeo 5 (my fav in budget pick) More money but better quality: Eotech (multiple choices) Trijicon MRO
  2. Well it took a while but it seems almost everyone learned not to look at this thread....but....
  3. It’s in Cookeville but this is who I’m taking my REM 700 to. Getting the barrel threaded and have heard great stuff about them. http://www.bugholes.com/articles.asp?ID=83
  4. I’ve got the Sightmark Wraith HD and I love it. Most people upgrade the IR when they get them but it’s fine for me for now. Coming in around $500 it’s a nice entry level that doesn’t hurt the pocketbook too awfully bad. They have a 4K version out now that’s a few hundred dollars more I believe. It’s usable in daylight as well so you can video you’re hunts even if we don’t have legal night hunting yet.
  5. I picked these up from Academy Sports three years ago and I love them! Didn’t have a break in period, and wearing very well. https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/magellan-m-landman-20-snake-boot
  6. Smyrna report as of 7:54 roads are completely sheeted with ice on side streets around me. Haven’t been on main roads since about 5pm when they were okay to drive on. A lot has changed just with temp drop since then.
  7. I’ve got one but have only used it a handful of times for charging my phone while hunting all day sits when needed. Don’t think I have enough time with it to offer much of a review for you, but so far I’m happy with it.
  8. Wow! That’s a big son of a gun!! Congratulations!
  9. I went with the XS big dot on my Rem 870 and I am happy with it. I reckon replacing the barrel isn’t quite that big of a deal to me should I ever have to. However for my coyote shotgun (Tristar Viper G2) I’ve been thinking about trying a red dot on it. Not much help for your question maybe but thought I’d share what I’ve done just in case it does.
  10. Doesn’t give me a good feeling about spending my money and hoping something ships.
  11. Savage 110 Tactical Desert in 6.5 Creed. I added the extra camo to it myself because I didn’t like the solid FDE as much as most people do.
  12. My muzzleloader buck And this buck I got yesterday with my 6.5 finished out my season unless I take a doe for extra meat in the freezer. Now after the coyotes and bobcats I go! Hope everyone had a good and safe season and good luck to those still chasing them.
  13. I was in there Sunday and it was Wolf steel case that I saw. High as heck but at least it was there if someone was out of ammo completely.
  14. Hope you have a quick recovery!!
  15. That’ll be far enough pilgrim!! I love that movie!!
  16. Good evening everyone! This morning was 26 degrees when I walked to my blind. Decided it would be a great morning to try out my Mr Buddy heater. I’ve never owned one because I hate hunting in a blind. But man what a difference it made. I’m not converted to a blind hunter because of it though. As soon as action slowed down I was out in a tree Bucks a does filled up the hayfield as soon as daylight broke. Not a shooter in the group but man was it exciting nonetheless! Two 4 pointers, one 6, and a 5 and five doe running wild. The does kept squatting for the bucks and they bucks kept checking. Seems none of them were ready but didn’t stop them all from playing the game. Couldn’t get much footage because of the distance so I just sat back and enjoyed it through my scope until around 10:30. The rest of the day I spent in a hang on treestand with little to no action. Ton of turkey acting batsh!? crazy for about three straight hours. Probably because they know I don’t hunt them lol. Couple doe and couple small bucks came through the edges of the field I was in. Slow end to the day but I enjoyed every single minute. I’m taking a break tomorrow and hanging out with my daughter all day, then working Friday. When I got home I realized that tonight was the last muzzleloader hunt. The season really is flying by y’all.
  17. I saw more chasing this morning and close to twenty deer up until around 10am. I left and moved down to some thicker woods due to the wind and imagination that they may be moving more in it with the wind speeds gaining. Turns out the spot I picked was not the happening spot if they were in fact staying in thick areas. Didn’t see anything till sunset and had a doe crashing down the ridge towards me and looking back behind her. That got me fired up, so I stood up with my muzzleloader.....to greet a year and half old four pointer! He was big and tough in his own mind though! Well at least it wasn’t a total skunk afternoon lol Supposed to be 29 in the morning. I’m tired from all these all day sits because I ain’t 20 anymore. But I’m gonna do it again because of the rut
  18. I didn’t see a single doe today but saw several 2.5 year olds and two 3.5 this morning. At 10am everything came to a screeching halt and didn’t see a single thing until 3:00 and it was a 6 pointer with a lot of growing left to do. An hour or so later I let the nicest 3.5 year old walk that I ever have. He is going to be a stud if he makes it to next year. Going back tomorrow but to a different stand. Hopefully it’s a good move
