The Hi-Power is my all time favorite 9mm. Considering that I just bought my 3rd version of one, I think I'm good for the time being. I have no experience at all with the TISAS products. I've heard both good and bad about them. My guess is that the mixed reviews are the result of inconsistent quality control. Simply put, some are good and some aren't so good. Might just be the luck of the draw for all I know. However, if these pistols prove to be good, I'm sure they will sell and be used quite a bit. Maybe one of y'all should buy one and let us know. OTOH: the Hi-Power is a much loved and proven design. Clones by FEG and FM are known to be good. A quick check of GB turned up 18 pages of Hi-Powers and its clones for sale. Browning and FN may have quit making them, but there's no shortage of them out there.

If it had been one of the big name gunsmiths, it would look a lot better. Did the builder sign it or otherwise put his mark on it? I'm guessing a local guy did the work. In that case its just another old modified G.I. bring back just like hundreds of others. Any collector value is gone. I'd guess $500-600 tops. Now, if you were to take it to the range and find that its a super accurate tack driver, that would change everything and likely double its value. Sure couldn't hurt to give it a try.

Pictures would help. Has it just been tuned or given a full blown Bullseye overhaul?

This one has been shot, but not much. It looks almost new. I believe I got a real good deal on this one. I gave $400 for it. Now if it would just warm up a bit and quit raining.

Here's one you don't see everyday. I picked this up off Armslist yesterday. Its a "Commander" sized 9mm Hi-Power made by FM Argentina. These are excellent quality, licensed copies of the famous Hi-Power pistol. However. FM decided to take it a bit further by creating a compact version that's an inch shorter than the standard. These were imported and sold here in the mid to late 1990s. That was during the infamous "assault weapons ban" and thus it came with two 10 round magazines. Anyway, I just thought y'all might like to take a peek.

George Klein, legendary DJ and friend to Elvis Presley, has died
Grayfox54 replied to The Legion's topic in General Chat
I remember listening to him on the radio while growing up in Memphis. He was a pretty good DJ, played the popular stuff and was fairly well thought of. But frankly, he was just average. Nothing special there. He was really the guy who became famous because he was a friend of Elvis. He played that connection to the hilt. Never let anybody forget it and milked it for all he could. Honestly, I didn't like him just because of the way he used the Elvis connection. If not for that, he would have just faded into history unknown. Frankly, for the last 30-40 years every time you saw him the guy looked like he was stoned out of his mind. I am sorry he died. Just not broken up about it. -
I have a Browning Model 1886 in .45-70 and do reload for it. While the rifle can handle the heavier loads, I can't. So I keep it at Trapdoor levels. Honestly, I don't shoot this rifle a lot and haven't done a lot of experimentation on loads. The loads I have worked up do have a bit of a thump to 'em, but I don't have any trouble shooting them. They are also quite accurate out of my rifle and these are my actual chronographed velocities. 350 gr hard cast LFP - 31.0 grs H4198 - 1262 fps 405 gr hard cast LFP - 29.0 grs IMR4198 - 1237 fps 405 gr Remington JSP - 31.0 grs IMR 4198 - 1268 fps As always, reduce by 10% and work your way up.

I got my 1099 from Social Security about mid-January. The 1099 from my pension came in the mail at about 3:00 pm on Feb. 1. By 4:00 pm my taxes had been done by H&R BLock and filed electronically. I know exactly how much I paid in and I'll be getting roughly 2/3 of it back as a refund. Yes, I do overpay and yes, I do this on purpose. I have the maximum withholding amount taken out of my checks. One: I hate the whole idea of having to pay in. Two: Its nice to get that big refund all in one lump sum. Three: this is my safety valve because I'm now living on a fixed income. If at some time in the future I find it difficult to get by on my monthly retirement payments. I can go in and adjust my tax withholding and give myself a raise. Having .gov holding some of my money interest free all year doesn't bother me one bit. I will get most of it back. If I had a little extra to spend each month, no doubt I would. Savings accounts don't pay squat anyway. So this is just a happy bonus that I get back each spring. I know everybody hates paying taxes. But they are a necessary evil. Yeah, .gov wastes billions of out tax dollars every year. And that does piss me off no end. But also remember that this is also the money that pays, for police and fire protection, educates our kids, keeps the roads repaired and the lights on. Taxes pay the day to day operating expenses and keep our little world humming along as usual. While I would truly love to see better management and accountability of just how our tax money is spent, the point is that this nation couldn't survive without them. Hell, taxes paid my salary for 25 years. I believe I gave the citizens their money's worth. Oh BTW: if you're getting a refund, I strongly suggest you get you taxes filed as soon as possible. I have no doubt that the government will shut down again in about 10 days. IRS is pretty much overwhelmed at tax time in a normal year. If the government gets shut down for a month again, its gonna be a real mess.

Innovative new sights you can make at home ..

I like it. I wouldn't buy it. But I do like it. -
You do realize that these days that sort of music is in the category called "Classic Rock"?
-
I just sorta had it on in the background and peeked at it once in a while. Missed most of the commercials and didn't really care. To me it was a bunch of yankees playing a bunch of left coasters. Not real sure which group I dislike more.

Actually, I really don't have much interest in an AR in this caliber. I'm just not much of an AR guy. What I'm waiting for is a more or less standard, straight stocked, semi-auto in 350. I'm thinking Ruger's Mini-14 would be ideal. That is IF its accurate. Something that the Mini-14 is noted for lacking. If it can't regularly do 1" or less at 100 yards, I wouldn't be interested. A handy trapper length lever action would be nice too. I'll just wait a while and see where the 350 lands.

Walther Arms in Fort Smith are some fine folks to deal with. I've sent two of mine in for warranty work. The Interarms/Ranger PPK had a safety lever issue and the S&W PPK/s had never had the recall done on it. Both times the people I spoke with on the phone were very friendly and extremely helpful. They paid shipping both ways, repairs were done very well and the gun was back in my hands in eight days. It doesn't matter exactly who made your Walther, they will honor the warranty, fix it right, get it back quickly and all at no cost to you. Some of the best customer service in the industry.

Well, I found the answer to one question and the AR guys ain't gonna like it. The 350 Legend will NOT work in standard 5.56 AR mags. Apparently there are some small ridges inside the mag at the cartridge neck that have to be removed in order for the straight walled case to fit and feed properly. Check at about the 3:15 mark. CMMG .350 legend AR But still. its an easy caliber change.

Way too small and round doesn't make efficient use of storage space. Put at least 500 rounds in it, make it square and stackable. In other worlds, updated Spam cans.

A 1911 .22 Conversion kit is a complete top end. Slide, barrel, recoil spring and guide. It changes the gun to a straight blowback system like most other .22 semi-autos. Years ago I got a great deal on a Ciener Platinum cup unit. I liked it so much that I built up a frame to mount it on permanently. Its one of my favorite 1911s. BTW: a few months ago I picked up a barely used .22 conversion for my Sig P226. I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Apparently y'all have no appreciation for the classics. How sad for you. I happen to be quite fond of the Walther PP series pistols. They're still around after almost 90 years for a simple reason. They work.
-
I don't think it would need different magazines. Its pretty much just a straight walled .223. I would think it would feed just fine out of 5.56 mags. At least I hope so.

I've never been very fond of the little Berettas. While they are small, they tend to be wide. To me it feels like you've got a baseball stuck in your pocket. That also makes it difficult to get out quickly. If you get a 3032, buy it new. The early versions had problems with the slide cracking. They fixed this in the later models by making the slide even wider. The .32acp isn't a bad little cartridge. I have several guns in that caliber. However, you can get .380s in the same size package and its a much better caliber for self defense. Not to mention that good self defense ammo is much more available and cheaper. If racking the slide is the problem, I'd suggest a locked breach style .380 such as the Colt Mustang, Sig P238 or Kimber Micro. (BTW: they're all pretty much the same gun. Just different prices. ) The locked breach design requires a much lighter recoil spring than on blowback .380s. They're much easier to rack and have lighter recoil when fired. However, they are basically scaled down 1911s and are best carried cocked and locked. If you're looking at .32s due to recoil sensitivity, I'd suggest a small frame revolver in .32 S&W Long, .32 H&R magnum or .327 Federal. The 327 will also fire the .32 Long and H&R with no problem as will the H&R fire the S&W Longs. My wife had arthritis in her hands and for her the answer was a 2" S&W Model 30 in .32 Long. She loved that little gun and could shoot it quite well. The recoil was very light and didn't bother her at all.

This cartridge is screaming for a short, straight stocked rifle along the lines of the M1 Carbine or Mini-14. Maybe even a lever gun. A nice, compact, light, smooth handling package. I'd buy one in a heartbeat!
-
You could just put a pistol grip stock on a M1A and have a better rifle a whole lot cheaper.

Actually, its not that uncommon and seems to happen now and then. And usually, its someone that is very accustomed to carrying, such as a LEO. I'm sure you've all seen stories in the past about the Chief, detective or even uniformed officer who left their handgun in the can or elsewhere. The person is just so used to having it be there that they forget it isn't. Some years ago, the city I worked for did a blood drive. The Bloodmobile parked at a fire station and that's where we went to give. One of our female police officers finished up and I took her place on that couch. A few minutes later, I'm laying back there just chillin' and doing the thing, when I hear tires squeal as a patrol car comes flying into the parking lot. This same officer jumps out of the car, runs inside and walks directly up to me. Then, with a very red face, she opened the drawer under the couch, retrieved her service weapon and put it back in her holster. Neither one of us said a word as she turned and left. Hell, I'll even admit that a time or two I've been in a hurry to go somewhere. I feel the holster on my belt and figure all is good. But then I walk out of the house and realize that I forgot to put the gun in the holster. BTW: no, I have never left it anywhere in public. When nature calls, I put it in my pants where I can't forget it. Yes, its foolish, irresponsible and embarrassing. But sometimes you're in a hurry and miss a detail or two. Brain farts can happen to the best of us.

Will the washer for a Buckmark work? Same basic design. Or you could just use a regular lock washer, purple lock-tite or maybe trim the lock washer you found a bit. As for the trigger issue, I might be a broken or bad return spring. However, the vast majority of problems with semi-auto .22s are usually caused by years of built up gunk in the innards. Generally a detail disassembly and a really good cleaning solves the problem.

How many of you will get this one?
