I work on base so unfortunately I can't carry most days since I am subject to search when I come through the gate. The thing is most of the buildings have lock boxes for our cell phones because they're forbidden inside, I wish they would install some so we could put our guns in so we would not be unarmed to and from work. When I'm off, I carry, at home, I have a gun close enough to get to in a hurry, I don't know where that puts me, percentage wise but it is what it is.

Probably related to his pardoning all the drug related convicts. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2017/01/19/obama-grants-330-more-commutations-bringing-total-record-1715/96791186/

Nationwide school "walk out" for gun control laws

She has no concept of irony does she? I guess they were going to cover Greek during that 17 minute walk-out. μολὼν λαβέ molṑn labé -

Nationwide school "walk out" for gun control laws
Omega replied to tercel89's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yes, good to see this, Fudds finally paying attention because they are targeting them. We need more gun owners to stand up against all unjust gun laws, not just the ones that affect them personally. I'm just as guilty of it sometimes, like today, I should have went to that dang rally, even if it was that far away..kinda ashamed of myself right about now. -
Nationwide school "walk out" for gun control laws

That's what they said when they passed the NFA, where was their compromise? All this talk of discussion fails to point out is that they will only be satisfied with us giving in. Sorry, but not just no, but hell no . When they get serious about addressing the real issues, then I'll listen. Without meaning to be so callous; a relative few kids get killed, by one of their own mind you, and it's us they want to disarm, the very people who would of risked their very lives to stop him?? If gun violence is such a big issue, why are they not sending in the National Guard into places like Chicago? Why are they not (yet) targeting pistols? Why are they not going straight after the highest percentage of people that are commiting violent crimes? Why, because that is not in their agenda, they want control, and the only ones they can control with laws are those that are law abiding. No law, ever, stopped a violent criminal, none. So, let me know when they are ready for a meaningful discussion. -
Why, he's dove hunting of course.

Not the way I read it; the monetary portion is to have states report those that are ineligible to the NICS system, not add new classes of prohibited persons, that is still a possibility but not until HIPPA and FERPA, ERPO get modified (a whole other fight). If those that were supposed to do something would have, many of these events would not of happened, the LEOs could have arrested that kid for multiple felonies but didn't.

The only issues I see are the raising the age limit, which I'd support if it all when to 21, not just guns, the Restraining Order area, that must include a much stronger Legal involvement, Background Check, same much more legal involvement. When someone takes out an Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO), there must be a way to have the accused be able to defend against it. Too much leeway for someone with a grudge to file for one. And it should not be permanent loss unless the court deems it so, many who have guns confiscated never get them back, the owner should be given a chance to sell them if he loses his rights to have them, not LEO. Background Checks, I would like for the court (due process) to be involved when someone is placed on the "do not buy" list. Again too much risk of losing your rights arbitrarily from a simple paperwork/judgement error. There must always be a way to correct errors, quickly and as inexpensively as possible. You should not have to pay to correct an error, the people that made the error should have to pay.

Same area where all that vandalism happened?

How would you NFA guys like to pay $500 instead of the $200 tax, that's what, a 150% increase? First this, then they'll stop allowing Trusts to force tranfers... While agree this will most likely never fly, it's best to fight tooth and nail just in case, because the .gov will never drop these taxes. Mr. Davis, Danny K. D-IL, for himself, Mr. Pascrell D-NJ, Mr. Johnson D-GA, Ms. Kelly D-IL, Mr. Langevin D-RI, Mr. Blumenauer D-OR, Ms. Bass D-CA, Ms.Norton D-DC, Mr. Cohen D-TN, and Mr. Lynch D-MA introduced the bill. §5811. Transfer tax (as of now) (a) Rate There shall be levied, collected, and paid on firearms transferred a tax at the rate of $200 for each firearm transferred, except, the transfer tax on any firearm classified as any other weapon under section 5845(e) shall be at the rate of $5 for each such firearm transferred. Proposed Changes: (1) IN GENERAL.—Subsection (a) of section 5811 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended— (A) by striking “$200” and inserting “$500”; and (B) by striking “$5” and inserting “$100”.

Now that is one effective looking hog hunting setup. I wonder if you can have one out here, with 16" barrels and semi-auto of course.

area-nashville Anti-Gunners Coming to Hendersonville
Omega replied to CJDore's topic in Events and Gatherings
Looks like the walkout is in the morning, then the rally in the evening. So a walkout breaking the rules, to protest other students breaking the law, all the while blaming the guns, and gun owners?? -
Like they say, you don't play you don't win. We need to play, each and every time these anti-gun bills are put up, we need to knock them down. It has got to become the norm for us to band together and let them know that we are not willing to share even a piece of our cake any longer. https://www.everydaynodaysoff.com/2013/11/08/cake-and-compromise-illustrated-guide-to-gun-control/

Seems we need to watch all the back and side doors, this one has not had much press (emphasis mine), looks like they are specifically targeting AR pistol lowers too. https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/5103 Introduced in House (02/27/2018) Gun Violence Prevention and Safe Communities Act of 2018 This bill amends the Internal Revenue Code, with respect to the excise tax on the sale of firearms by manufacturers, producers, or importers, to: (1) increase the rate of such tax to 20% on pistols, revolvers, and other firearms and on any lower frame or receiver for a firearm; and (2) impose a 50% tax on shells and cartridges. The bill exempts any department, agency, or instrumentality of the United States from such tax. The bill allocates revenues from the increased excise tax under this bill for law enforcement and public safety grant programs, including programs for research on gun violence and its prevention. The bill: (1) increases the occupational tax on importers, manufacturers, and dealers in firearms and the transfer tax on firearms; and (2) modifies the definition of "firearm" for excise tax purposes to include a semiautomatic pistol chambered for cartridges and configured with receivers commonly associated with rifles and capable of accepting detachable magazines.

And welcome to TGO from the same neck of the woods.

They should be introduced to TGO, we need more women like that on board.

I am interested in the wear, that is one of the things I don't like about all these painted guns, the corners/edges seem to wear pretty fast. I like my G23, but that is the only glock I have, the others just don't do it for me, like on the G17, the longer "nose" just doesn't appeal to me, but this one may be on my radar yet.

Maybe not the total GOP, but how many would it take to cross the aisles? And there are already precedents of using a federal agency such as the IRS to pressure groups, so no doubt it would continue. IRs imposes high ammo tax, EPA ban lead bullets, OSHA imposes powder and ammo storage requirements...I have no doubt they would push harder, since they had already started doing it.

I would think that the prosecutor would first have to prove that it violated the law. In order for this to break the law, it would have to fire more than one round per pull of the trigger. Only way for them to "fix" it, is to define a cyclic rate that equals "auto", which would have to be faster than anyone could possibly pull the trigger with no assistance. Because if you want to go the route of "intent", then there goes any weapon those in power want to "tax", or make nearly impossible to transfer/own, which the ATF's own page says is the intent.
