  1. What the Army fights for has nothing to do with one's right to be a jackass on the clock at work.
  2. Antifa couldn't have said it better
  3. Camp City over in West Memphis didn't become Red Barn, did it?
  4. Mmmmmmmaybe if he had a normal job and risked losing his car, home, etc...
  5. Got tired of the $175-200/month slowly increasing TV/internet bill. Now pay $40/month for AT&T Uverse internet and 10/month for Netflix. Also have an HD antenna for local channels. Until football starts, I have little use for a TV. Gave up Comcast many years ago.
  6. Yes--Marlin Model 60
  7. Agreed, many do budget with OT in mind, but many others don't have the opportunity to turn down the OT, whether they need it or not. I wish they did the time off for long salaried hours thing where I work.
  8. As a side note, several have posted how they tell the cop they are armed. I've never done this and don't plan to start if not required. The last thing I want during a traffic stop is to get disarmed by someone who may or may not be familiar with the gun I carry (especially since it's usually a single action auto), and the first step to getting disarmed is telling them you are armed. Sure, they can see that you have a permit if they run your license, but I've been stopped six or seven times since getting a permit and have never once been asked if I had a gun. Maybe they were in a hurry or maybe they just didn't care, but STFU has been a winning formula so far.
  9. It just seems a lot more common now...salaried or not.
  10. On the other hand, a 50-60 hour work week is, unfortunately, becoming the norm in America. I know very few people with full time jobs who work only 40 hours/week any more. "More with less" and all that I guess.
  11. +1 A buddy has a .22 Marauder and it's awesome. Accurate, powerful, quiet. He killed a squirrel at 94 yards (according to my rangefinder). My RWS .177 (Model 36 or 40?) is powerful and accurate, but sounds like a .270. If I were planning on some serious backyard air gunning in the city, I might go with the .177. My buddy has blown rat brains THROUGH his wood fence with his .22.
  12. I was down for four weeks last year after ankle surgery. I'm not a big TV guy, but I watched 4.5 seasons of Breaking Bad and probably 10 movies I've wanted to see over the years. I also read five or six books and spent untold hours surfing with an iPad. One day I researched all the denominations of the Church. 12 weeks? Good luck
  13. The Loshbough place looks pretty interesting...
  14. I recall reading in the TN hunting and fishing guidelines or whatever that hogs were considered nuisance animals and it was basically open season on them. Also, the guide recommended thoroughly washing your hands after handling them and burying the carcass because hogs carried so many diseases. What changed?
  15. Red dot sights are neat and all, but I can't see having one on a carry gun. I've been shooting one competitively for a month and a half or so, and have mixed feelings about them. I found out the hard way this weekend what happens when you step out of a cool environment and into a hot, humid one. BAM! The sight fogs up. Not cool if you really needed it and co-witnessed iron sights, which I've never understood anyway, would also be useless. I hope once I really get used to the gun, they will be faster, but I'm not yet fully convinced. Indexing the gun by muscle memory is even more crucial than with an iron-sighted gun and if your the type to carry different platforms, it won't happen.
  16. MCTS website says matches start at 9 am. Is this correct?
  17. I am still trying to figure out what was wrong with the 2012 rules.
  18. "All comments, reviews, and suggestions should be sent to Comments@idpa.com. Be sure to include your IDPA number as those without will not be reviewed." As if they will actually review suggestions...
  19. Ha ha ha I was thinking the same thing. Cap, you should bring your Ruger to a steel challenge match--you might just surprise yourself.
  20. Being a southpaw, I like the ambi safety. But a magazine disconnect? Why? Why? Does the Mark 3 have one? My Mark 2 does not.
  21. gotcha.
  22. How does one "de-escalate" a situation with an approaching and/or charging dog? No two dogs are alike, and an about-to-be-bitten gunowner may not have time to analyze a dog's personality. As stated above, if he didn't draw when he did, he probably would not have had another chance if the dog had attacked.
  23. The Memphis Charity Challenge (October 21-22) has been modified to allow all handgun divisions. It is typically revolver and single stack only. The match proceeds benefit LeBonheur Children's Hospital. The match is a level 2 USPSA match and will be held at Memphis Sport Shooting Association in Lakeland, TN. The match website is https://www.facebook.com/2016MCC/.
  24. I have a P3AT, am a member at MSSA, and will be at the AP range sometime next weekend. I don't know what generation it is, but it has been reliable.
