  1. You mean for Trump to ban them?
  2. There's no safer way to holster the gun, then attach holster and gun to your self?
  3. This seemed like as good a place as any to drop this, read through to the end: https://www.cnn.com/2019/11/27/us/104-year-old-woman-wisconsin-hunt-deer-trnd/index.html
  4. @PAULSHOOT, thank you for posting this reminder. I'm glad no one was seriously injured.
  5. Maybe an opportunity to draft them for Team 2A?
  6. Long before I came along, my grandparents kept hogs on the farm. When I asked my grandpa why he quit hogs, he said he fell into the pen once while feeding them and the sow put her open mouth right up to his face. He said it was a quick decision.
  7. Family friends? Good neighbor kids? Local scout troop? Somebody gettin' da yutes involved in the great outdoors?
  8. It is something you'd be willing to do yourself? Might could find a set of used tools locally... http://www.armslist.com/posts/10108153/st-cloud-minnesota-shotguns-for-sale--choke-reamer-and-tap
  9. I'm sure it's a hard thing to come to this conclusion. I'm not there yet, but have seen a lot of the folks I look up to get there. (I'm thankful that so far my reassessment of my collection is mostly to do with focusing more on things I'll want my boys to able to appreciate.) To echo what @DaveTN said, if you can hold them for a year or a bit less you'll probably do much better in terms of how much debt you'll be able to take care of. Feel free to pick our brains if necessary when you're listing things, and thank you for thinking of us first!
  10. Are you already set up to load .30-'06? If so, you already have projectiles for .308. You can think of the -'06 as a .308 magnum (or the. 308 as an -'06 short). Both are very capable rounds and certainly enough for whitetails as far as the average hunter is capable of shooting from a field rest. If you don't already stock projectiles for .30-'06, you'll probably find the 6.5 slightly more pleasant to shoot than .308 as well as a bit flatter. It's also capable of taking deer as far as most hunters are in a field situation. But for my money, I'd be picking up the Savage .260rem in the classifieds. I actually have -'06s and a .260, thinking that I have the horsepower and pleasant target shooting ends covered well and don't need to compromise with the .308. So I guess there's that...

    Hornet

I get the nostalgia factor, but if you're not dead-set on the Hornet because you think it's super cool I'd encourage you to just go with a .223 in a nice bolt action rifle. If you don't reload, you have a lot more choices in .223 loads, better availability, and lower price per bang. If you do reload, you can mimic the Hornet's good qualities (relatively low powder usage, not much recoil or report) but you also have the flexibility to load something like an 80gr projectile, which a Hornet setup really wouldn't be able to handle.
  12. Man purse on his hip... Hmmm... Didn't Marty Robbins do a song about that??
  13. That's kind of how I remember it, and pretty much the reason I suggested hitting them up. I guess, to be fair to them, as a group they're really passionate about something and just think everyone ought to feel the same way.
  14. Can you do me a favor? Can you go register on the Sig forum, post about what you found, and that you plan to unwrap the spare may, take it shooting in the rain, and replace a bunch of parts? Then report back here with a link so we can enjoy the show?
  15. I've got one word for you: Buffalo Bore.
  16. If it truly is NIB condition, with everything it should have from the factory, it might be worth $800 now. If it stays that way, it'll probably be worth that or more in a few years. So, are you looking for a good gun to use or an investment?
  17. Noonan! NOONAN! Nnnoonan! Miss! Noonan!
  18. What's a cow horn spike? (I'm trying to figure out what we call them up here...)
  19. I believe it's a Winchester 1895. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winchester_Model_1895
  20. Some of us splurge on optics, some of us splurge on .40 ammo. I happen to fall into that group that splurges on daycare and student loans... I almost forgot: I splurge on materials for the home remodel, too. Sheetrock and an egress window cover in the same week?! Oooh, boy! And looks like the dishwasher might've crapped out today, so I'll be splurging there one way or the other. Just to be clear, this was all meant in fun. We're lucky to have two great little boys, a home we can fix up and have a good chance to build equity with, and I'm lucky enough to have work that keeps me pretty well it of harm's way, mostly pays the bills, and keeps me from getting real hot in the summer, real cold in the winter, and real wet in the rain.
  21. THIS! Get yourself about a 6" picatinny extension to hang it from, and a pistol brace glued to the backside, you'll be super duper tactical! Better get some suppressor-height sights on there, too, just because...
  22. I think even that wouldn't make me want a .40 s&w...
  23. You'll be happy with that revolver. I don't have one, but I do keep my eye out. Just in case you don't already know, Ruger will honor their warranty on the -Six revolvers but it's a credit towards a new one rather than repair.
