  1. Indeed... here's what he's made for me.
  2. Remember this guy...? Check this out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSVJIoZDhFI
  3.     I'd tend to agree with this.  My house is also 2000 sqft (all on one level) and I get decent signal in my driveway and on the back patio.  I think I have a Linksys router as well... I had to buy a new one a couple years ago but don't remember what I bought.   I also had to add a wireless card to my PC.  I got an external antenna for it just to ensure high signal strength.  The PC is a good 30 ft from the router, across 2 interior walls.
  4. Aluminum has a rather low melting point...About 1250 F. A propane torch or hot open fire will do it.
  5. Haven't tried it, but I feel sure it'll penetrate unless it impacts at a very shallow angle.
  6. Dig the dye job on the sheath. Nice knife too. ;)
  7. :USA: Thanks to all who serve.
  8. That was exceedingly bizarre.
  9. Pics or it didn't happen. :)
  10. Try copy/paste instead of drag and drop.
  11. Sometimes it's better that people think you're an idiot, rather than opening your mouth and proving it.    Moron.
  12. I'm glad I live in a place where I don't need a traffic app.
  13.     Yep.   Man... 28k miles and these tires are shot.  They're total crap!  I'm never buying them again!  Did you get the alignment checked?  No.  Do you check the air pressure monthly?  No.  Do you get them rotated?  No.   Gee... I can't imagine why they wore out so fast...   :shake:

    Bird ID?

Young red tailed hawk.  Adult cooper's hawks are a bit smaller (about the size of a big crow) and usually more gray.  Most of the hawks around here look pretty similar when they're juveniles (red tailed, red shouldered, coopers, sharp-shinned, broad winged, ... ) and it can be really hard to tell the difference until they're adults.    http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Red-tailed_Hawk/id   http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Coopers_Hawk/id
  15.     Hence my comment about not wanting to be part of the learning curve.  People are selfish and can't do math so think that being one car ahead or driving 5 mph faster somehow saves them vast amounts of time.   But again, if when the light turns green and that motorcycle jets off out of sight, you realize it's not a big deal.  It's not like cars where there's only so much space.  Motorcycles occupy the space between the cars and then are gone at the first opportunity.  The idea is, when people see how much easier the bikes get through the traffic, they'll want to get a bike too, and that will be one less car on the road.
  16.     Right, $300 for 2 tires, not 4.

I picked up a new Zastava from here for under $600 about a month ago.  ;)

    Bird ID?

We do birds.... (mrs. peej) We've got a few feeders and like having them around. Mom has LOTS of feeders and probably goes through 50lbs of sunflower seed in a week or two. We have a strange woodpecker that likes sunflower seed. He'll get a seed, carry it up to the edge of the eave or gutter, and jackhammer away at it. It literally sounds like someone is hammering on the roof. It's either a downy or a hairy woodpecker.
  19. Welcome!
  20.     80k seems early for struts to go, but it depends heavily on how it was driven.  Frequent gravel roads or unbalanced tires will kill them in short order.   $1100 seems a little high to me, but all the stuff adds up quick.  Get an itemized quote and do a little reality check.
  21. Nice fish!
  22. Agreed.  There are no laws I'm aware of that cover that.  Employment or union contracts might, if you're subject to them.    I've also been through the bought/sold routine a few times with multiple employers.  My current employer changed ownership (again) just last week in fact.  Generally there's 2 scenarios.... 1) everything changes, or 2) nothing changes.   I am but one of the minions and have no control over anything, so I choose not to worry about it.
  23.   Not to completely derail the thread, but it works in CA and most of Europe and Asia because it's "normal" there and has been for generations.  (Almost) Everyone is accustomed to it.  While I don't have any real objection to it becoming legal here, I'm not real interested in being part of the learning curve.
  24.     Meh.  They've made thousands of them and this is the first time I've heard of a rusty one.
  25. Yes.  The struts are part of what holds the tire on the road.  If the struts are worn and letting the tire wobble around, they will have unusual wear.    That said, I'd get a 2nd opinion.  How many miles on the car?
