In short barreled guns, I think +P ammo is a good choice for mitigating some of the velocity you lose. I caught a sale on 124 gr Speer Gold Dot +p in 50 rd LE boxes. I love them.
  2. I like this guy
  3. I think I'd make a cleaner cut with a Dremel cut-off wheel than I would a hacksaw, but that's just me. That's prolly a moot point, since I'd be filing, sanding, and painting anyway.
  4. Dang, it was bad enough after the first couple of posts when I thought I was only a gun snob, but now I realize I may be a snoob too. Oh, the shame.
  5. Have you been in there since Everything Weapons bought it? I'm wondering if it's better/worse than before.
  6. I was in Outpost Armory on Friday looking around and killing time. I couldn't believe the number of people encircling the checkout stand waiting on their background checks to go through. There must have been 20 people or more of them and they were all clogging up the aisles. That made it hard to get around and look at stuff. I did manage to score some .22 and Bullseye, so I'm not whining.
  7. I'm also glad you posted the link to this scope. I picked one up as well. This is a huge step up from Vortex I was about to buy, which is still a good deal since it comes with a PEPR mount.
  8. black cherry, all the way...reminds me of these red wattle grips from Marschal Grips on my 82
  9. only a few foods I won't eat...mushy greens, evil baby cabbages that smell like farts, squid/octopus/eel, and no organ meats
  10. I heard an instructor warn a student when we arrived for class that his gun likely wouldn't make it to lunch time. He offered to loan the student his spare, but the guy insisted on using his own. After holding up the class a couple of times and then sitting out for a few drills to work on his (cleaning, I assume), he took the instructor up on his offer in the afternoon session. I felt bad for the guy for not getting to train with his very pretty and very expensive gun, but that's the way it goes some times. Some guns won't make it through long shooting sessions without maintenance and cleaning.
  11.   Woo Hoo, thanks, OS!!! just got one for $119 shipped using the Make An Offer button too. For the record they rejected $110, $115, and $118.   So, I guess I'm building a pistol now.... :woohoo:
  12. I want my next build to be tungsten with black small parts and dark gray furniture...I love that look.
  13. I'm sure there's bad batches of components and/or days when a machine needed recalibrating and the like, but I still find it odd how hit and miss stuff like this is. Some rave about how good theirs is and others had just the opposite experience. It even seems to happen, but less often, with the high-end brands.
  14. reminds me of these oldies but goodies
  15. I've got the one from AIM and love it. Easy to clean, good lubricity, works in every gun I tried it in so far.
  16. what's so exciting about a candle with holly and berries? :hiding:
  17. See, this lil guy will talk her into getting a .45, he'll take her to the range and "teach" her to shoot it, she'll hate the recoil, miss her target, develop a permanent flinch reflex, and learn to hate guns and shooting....all because of this idiot.
  18. dang, that looks fantastic! I love it.
  19. I know it's expensive, but the Laserlyte laser cartridge is what really got me hooked on dry fire practice. Seeing that little red dot splash on faces on TV or objects around the room really does it for me. I got the laser activated target later and that made it fresh and fun all over again. Even later my darling wife got me the tip over cans to go with it. It's every bit as fun as going to the range.
  20. I have one of these little guns in .22 WMR and I love mine. It's accurate as hell, has a better trigger than any of my other long guns, only cost me $160 OTD at a gun show, and fits in the backpack in my tool box for emergencies.
  21. I don't carry IWB very often, but when I do it's with a homemade Crossbreed knockoff. For a while I was making one or two a week for friends, co-workers, and I almost always included one for free when I traded or sold a gun. Alien Gear ruined that for me. My cost for materials/hardware alone is close to their selling price. When I run out of material, I'll just buy theirs instead of making my own and save myself the time and money.   Edit: I know they buy their materials and hardware in bulk, but I still don't see how they are making any money unless they sell hundreds of these things every week.
  22. that video was hilarious!! I wish that tune wasn't so catchy...I don't WANT to like it
  23.   Shake it off, shake it off
  24. That's where the rubber meets the road it seems. Anything with a paper filter even that little disk in the Aeropress will not only keep the cup "clean" it will also remove all the oils. I put up with the silty "dirt" in the bottom of my cup to keep from losing the oils and flavors, but I do like the smoothness of a pour-over or a chemex.
  25. pretty darn cool tech
