The smoothest trigger pulls in DA i've felt were on SW Performance center revolvers, Specially the thunder ranch and JM models.

I always liked the Colts best, but never owned one. Always been an S&W guy. There is at least one guy out there that does action jobs on revolvers, and gets high marks.

I put a Wolff reduced power sping kit in my 637. Improved it some, but it's not like some of the great actions I've felt in the past.

I was thinking it was a colt. The detective special my dad used to have was real smooth.

I fired a 500S&W at the range recently that had the smoothest, lightest trigger pull I have ever felt. It was like you could just think about that pistol going off, and suddenly BOOOOM - it would. No perceptible increase in pull before the break.

Colt Python is the best I have felt but admittedly I dont remember much about the DA pull as I didnt use that much, I always shot it in single action mode.

a Ruger Security Six I shot was not very good, kinda rough, gritty and quite heavy on DA

Ruger, IMO.

the trigger on my Speed Six is fantastic.

and the trigger on my LCR is the best stock wheel gun trigger I've ever felt.

sadly though, this is not the case with newer production, non-LCR Rugers (sp101, etc).

I do, on Smith & Wesson’s. But they are for the range; you can’t carry them.

I guess someone could do a trigger job on a Colt as well, but a Python (I have owned three) out of the box isn’t going to be as smooth as a S&W competition gun, and the trigger pull is much longer.

I was just wondering cuz I have heard on some guns you can get hair pin triggers (not good for defense in my opinion) to really light say 5-7 pound pulls with overtravel stop in em.

Colt snake guns are nice BUT they are not made any more, I believe the OP asked about who MAKES the nicest DA's right now, which comes hands down to SW performance center, or specialty revolvers. And if you are willing to drop a huge chunk of cash at a revolver, try a Freedom Arms one they are exceptionally made, not sure about their trigger pull though

I was just wondering. Here is what I was thinking. I was going to buy a taurus 85 in march. I was going to have the internals deburred and the trigger face smoothed as well as chamfering done (chamfering only if needed), also I was going to install a 6.5 pound trigger return spring and leave the stock hammer spring. I was also going to have the hammer made into a rounded tear drop shape for easier less snagability. Predator custom shop there in knoxville quoted me 85.00 for the whole she bang. I may just do it.

Yeah, I have a Security Six. The DA is tough and gritty, that explains it just about right. SA on the other hand, well...just don't breathe.

A few years ago I bought a Colt "Officers Model" '38 revolver to have an extra "around the house" weapon. Ever since I shot it the 1st time it has resided in my safe except when I just want to shoot a REALLY smooth, light trigger action. (I have no idea if it's been worked on.) The finish has some holster wear and because of that I got it cheap.
