In Love

Recommended Posts

This old gal has a few more years on her than most women I am attracted to, but in only two short months she has become the love of my life.

My wife actually gave her to me for my birthday (translation: she caught me sneaking her down the back steps to basement).

Ditto on the jealous. Nice rifle.

There have been lever action single shots for a long time. Ruger No1 is a lever action single shot, right?

I'm jealous of the 99 . I've been looking for a .358 Winchester 99 for a few years, not willing to part with any of my parts to get one though.

I don't know what year it is but my Dad has a 99 in .308 also. He re-did the stock, and it's beautiful. The first high powered rifle I shot when I was a kid. I've tried and tried to get it from him but he always says "Awww, I may get it out and shoot it this weekend " lol He is enjoying torturing me with it.
By the way, very nice and I too am jealous!

It is factory drilled and tapped. Any comments about what anyone may think would be a good scope and ring combo? I would like a vintage or retro look.

An older El Paso Weaver k4 with fine crosshairs. Don't make'em like that anymore.

Precisely. That is why I was asking. I got to shoot a Ruger No. 1 in 458 Win Mag a few years ago. What a hoot!

Thanks for the reply about the internal rotary mag. Nifty gun!

If you happen to run across one. I've found the Bausch and Lomb BalVar scopes and mounts to be of very high quality and of modest price.

I've got a 99eg in .300 sav. that's never been drilled and tapped. I've put a tang mounted peep sight on it, and it's a fairly decent 100 yard deer rifle. Can't bring myself to drill it, but as I get older it'll get out less and less. Got an old Remington model 30 (Remington factory modified 1917 enfield action) with the same problem, just don't like scopes on them old classics.
