Westboro Protest in Chattanooga

Recommended Posts

Hmm, wonder where this douche is gonna be buried? Were he to be buried somewhere around here, wonder what the world would have to say if we protested HIS funeral. Maybe even set up a BBQ and beer fest with a portapotty over his grave.
Westboro can do it, so why not?

I'm in, I'll bring the babes, beer, and bacon.

Yeah they were there last night, and are supposedly coming back this morning with more crazies.

Ive seen a few videos posted by friends already on facebook of them protesting at the memorial last night.

One was there last night. Got arrested for slapping a cop's hand off him and calling the cop a n%$$*r. Real classy group.

Wow, really? Give this guy the Rodney King Humanitarian of the year award. Shame he didn't get his head pounded.

I saw that video too. He's probably lucky he got arrested with the path he was going down. Otherwise, I think he was scheduled for a whoopin'

In my thinking, this doesn't make sense. The bodies were flown to Virginia for autopsies..(why the autopsies is a mystery to me) Then I thought they were to be flown to their home towns for funerals.  I must have missed something. If it is here, I will be there and will be part of the wall. I sold my bike a few months ago, but I'll still be there.

IIRC that's the primary military location for autopsy. It's pretty much a DOD policy and part of any homicide investigation. Here's a pdf that explains a bit. http://www.dtic.mil/whs/directives/corres/pdf/550510p.pdf

Read on another board this guy was said to be local "sympathizer" nut of some kind,  not a Westboro member. No hard facts yet apparently.

Here's vid:

Latest I can find from actual news is that no actual Westboro folks have actually shown up yet:

Probably won't show at all, if indeed they are only going to protest funerals as they said.

Just saw this on the WRCB-TV website. Looks like Staff Sgt. Wyatt will be buried in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.

Bit of a surprise there, but really quite the tribute to the Nooga community.

So sounds like the nuts will have cause to show up for real.

My Dad is interred there.

The only flag not at half-staff in Dunlap, Tennessee is at the Post office. When I called and asked why, they claimed they were not authorized by the Fed. to lower it to half-staff.  I haven't felt this disgusted with our so called leaders in Washington  since I was advised not to wear my uniform in public when I returned from Vietnam, back in the 60's. :surrender:

My grandfather is there. It has been a couple of years since I've visited. Sounds like it is time to go back...

The people in Chattanooga have taken this very personal, and most are having a hard time dealing with it. I guess we all had the feeling that "it could never happen in our town". I'm sure the streets will be lined for the funeral procession, and if the crazies show up, will be taken care of.

FWIW... the picture posted above of the memorial on Lee Highway is only part of it. There's another one on Amnicola Highway, at the Naval/Marine OP's Center just as big if not bigger.

I'll be down at Mom's tomorrow, she lives less than a mile from the Brainerd site -- I'm sure I'll walk over and pay respects at least while I'm there.

THANKS OS... There's actually talk from the owner of the strip mall about erecting a permanent memorial to the fallen there. I'm sure I can speak from all of us in Chattanooga when I say, THANKS to you all for you thoughts, prayers and support in these trying times.
