  1. It can be called marriage as long as your wife isn't a guy. The rules can be bent, as long as we get to discriminate against the folks we don't like. Besides... if we allow gay marriage, there will be semen flowing in the streets

  2. I know most of us don't have this kind of Cash on hand but still unless caught doing something illegal, one should not have to prove it is going to be used legally. Seriously, we don't arrest people before they comment a crime. Having money in cash should not be proof of a possible future event. This is a broken system.

  3. Most cops would not do that. It’s armed robbery by Police Officers. The state Attorney General and the Tennessee Legislature support it. It needs to stop. When you have cops out on I-40 fighting with each other over “Territory†so they can steal money from travelers…. It needs to be prosecuted criminally. But of course it won’t be because the only people that can bring charges are involved in it. It’s appalling.

  5. I've been a very vocal critic of CCA for a while now based on multiple previous experiences. I decided to drop in today to ask some questions about Class 3 stuff and see what suppressors they had on hand. Today's experience was exactly the opposite of my last two or three times in the store. I received excellent customer service from two different employees and had all of my questions answered. They gained me back as a customer today. I figure if I take the time to bash them when they suck I can at least praise them when they do a great job.

  7. The generalizing I am doing about the GOP is why the actions at the local level you are referring to are needed. The national party machine is corrupted. Many of the state party machines are the same, look no further than Nashville for evidence of that here in TN.

  9. This has been going on for a long time. I remember a case at least 10 years ago where a jeweler was going overseas to buy diamonds and had 10 or 20 thousand seized in Tenn. He was not charged with anything. Glenn

  10. Again, trying to force your beliefs, (or lack thereof), on another. What is so wrong with civil unions?

  11. Maybe light a candle.. Thank you all so much for all the kind words, thought`s and prayers. We are still at a loss for words and will be for years to come...No one should experience what this family has, especially the mother. I can not fathom for one second what she is experiencing.. No one should have to bury their child or children.. We waste so much time on things that do not matter at the end.. we waste so much time worrying what other will do or say..And all of it does not matter at the end.. Love one another.. be gentle and kind to each other..because perhaps there will be no tomorrow.. http://obits.dignitymemorial.com/dignity-memorial/obituary.aspx?n=Evlin-Lewis&lc=2736&pid=157632589&mid=5102397

  12. It's not a maybe. The homosexuals said they wouldn't push for adoption ... and now? They said it wouldn't push sodomy laws ... and now? They said it wouldn't push bestiality .. talk to Washington. The list goes on. Once you open the door of changing definitions from the established to the interpretive value of the few you will get a mess. Heck, that's how we've gotten to where we have with the constitution and liberalism. It's the so called "libertarians" and conservatives who can't see the connection between absolutes/relativism and the Constitution/law/society and issues such as this that concern me. There are either absolutes or there are not. You can not have some and have others be relative to the individual. This is not as much a religious issue as some want us to believe. That is too easy to dismiss for many. The deeper issue is what I have stated above.

  14. I don't vote using that method either, but last time around the election was decided by those who did. This time I could pretty much care less what the republican platform is, just voting for whoever has the best chance to beat the Big O.

  15. Yes, he still has the possibility of becoming the most hated man in GOP history. And also to queer Rand from ever going anywhere in the party, too. Of course, Rand can always rise to power on a third party ticket, right? Yeah, riiiggghhhttt. - OS

  17. Straights are not allowed to marry same sex either. If one wanted to disregard benefits of sex, then it would be a lot cheaper to shack up and marry a straight hunting buddy & share expenses, tax burden and health costs. (No problems with change of life either) So, civil rights wise, it seems we *do* have equal rights. On both sides of the issue, we can marry anybody we want, just not the same sex.

  20. I just see it as gay people wanting to be legally allowed to do what everyone else seems to be able to legally do. Why not just let gays get maried whether or not the government has anything to do with it or not. Just seems fair to me. Why get hung up on a word?

  21. I think that were most people screw up on this subject is not understanding what a marriage is from the perspective of both sides. Christianity defines a marriage as a covenant between a man, a woman, and God. That has changed from polygamy in early times, but marriage pre-dates the government's definition and involvement. The US Government - which includes most states - defines a marriage as a legal contract between two parities, and for the most part became required after the civil war. The problem is they use the same word. Since the courts like to use legal precedence in these matters then it's the government who's screwed up here by using the word "marriage": therefore, if they want to replace the word "marriage" with "civil unions" then I have no problem with it. I do have a problem with them trying to define a Christian belief. If homosexuals and atheists want civil unions then more power to them. Just don't demand that we call it a marriage.

  22. For that matter, there are plenty of other places to buy Coleman products. I know Bass Pro sells Coleman stuff. I am pretty sure that Academy does, as well. The last time I was at the 'blue mall' there was still a Coleman store there (but that was before that mall was, apparently, sold to new owners.) Heck, even Wally World sells some Coleman stuff. That statement is almost sig line worthy. The same is true of me.

  23. It seems government sets the rules for marriage. None of us can do it without their blessing and paying their tax to do so. Some don't have the option at all. Things considered sacred... at one time being left handed was considered very bad, every bit as bad as being gay maybe. Left handed people are not quite as shunned anymore. Civilization did not fall. As for you thinking I disrespect other's beliefs, I am not sure where you get that from. I don't disrespect anyone elses beliefs anymore than they do mine. You are free to believe as you wish, it is no skin off of my nose. Maybe I am missing your point. Are you not wishing me to bend my belief? A majority is not always right.

  24. The "rights" issue is a red herring. That is already doable through other channels. Heck giving power of attorney would do the same in most cases, living wills, etc. The bigger question is why do some insit on recognized same-sex marriage if those factors are not part of the equation? If marriage is legally recognized, Church's would then be subject to legal retaliation for "discrimination". Not only that but one small groups theology gets dictated to me and I have to abide or risk legal ramifications from the Federal government. Then you would have the State dictating the Church on theology and doctrine. If the State is dictating theology and doctrine then the State has become a church in and of itself. That is neither libertarian, constitutional, nor American. That alone is the main argument, but there are plenty of others. Why does a very small group of individuals get to dictate an entire culture shift and definition of a matter that is one of the few cultural and religious understandings that has transcended time, religion, and society throughout recorded history?

  25. I just dug it out and looked. As I suspected my marriage license makes no mention of god. It does mention legal contract and was signed by a judge and plainly says marriage.

  26. This, absolutely this. I consider myself a Libertarian and I think we have wasted our resources and energy fielding a Presidential Candidate every 4 years. Want to make a difference? Field candidates in local elections, put small government folks on the city councils, county commissions and then in the state legislatures. Continue to vote for whomever you need to so as to safeguard the Supreme Court, but always be working towards making the Republicans irrelevant if they won't reform.

  27. I am one of those people. Apparently my marriage isn't valid. I'm not "crying" for gay marriage. It doesn't affect me one way or the other. I just have an opinion. Making comments that suggest I somehow support Obama because he wants to make butt buddies legal is silly. Its even more silly to think that someone should absolutely agree/disagree with everything a politician says or believes. That's pretty closed minded. I think Obama has/is destroying us economically. If I agree with him on gay marriage does that mean I have to ignore everything else by default? I don't think so. If peter puffer marriage is swaying a person's vote then they need to stay home. We got bigger problems. Back to the topic, since when did the government dictate who can or can't be married in a church? There are still churches that won't do interracial marriages. Don't see the gov stepping in there. If queers and dykes want a ceremony then churches aren't obligated to perform it. I couldn't even get married in a downtown church here in Clarksville unless I was a member. So I don't think churches will be forced to do anything by the gov, just the JPs. God has nothing to do with marriage unless you want it to. God has nothing to do with my marriage. If a Hindu gets married here in TN then where is God? Should he have to make YOUR God a part of the ceremony? That doesn't sound like separation of church and state.

  28. If two people are married by a JP it is in fact called marriage. Certainly being married by a JP is not a religious ceremony. I am not sure how being married is religious, and god is not always involved. People can write their own vows, there needs be no mention of god for it to be legal. When i get a second i will dig out my marriage license, pretty sure there is no mention of god on it. And i don't see why gays getting married is such a big deal. Funny topic it is.

  30. Had a great mothers day today. Started out bringing mom (and dad) breakfast in bed. She surprised the heck out of me this year with her request to spend the day at the range! So off we went to CHMR, the whole family. Everyone had a blast and my mom (former LAPD reserve) has still got it. Hasn't shot a gun in close to thirty years and by her second mag we were calling her Annie Oakley. The best thing is we got my dad not only out of bed but out of the house, which is a pretty big deal these days as he's not doing great health wise. Any way ended the day with a big family dinner with some of her friends as guests. The only down side is I think I have to relinquish my sr22 to her as it was her clear favorite of the day. Oh well.
