Manufacturers shouldn't give an inch, here.  They'd be missing out on a few sales, but ought to stand on principle.   "I'm sorry upstate New Yorker.  You can't buy this Glock, Sig, or whatever because we're not going to bow to political theater by making reduced capacity magazines."   Only when people realized that they can't have something they want will enough people get motivated enough to do something.  Maybe then they'll start electing some people that actually make some sense.

This is how the left plays hardball, folks. This is why there can NEVER be any compromise.

  Imagine if all manufacturers created an "embargo" with New York. Imagine if Glock, SIG, etc all decided to not sale anything to NY. Imagine the NYPD attempting to purchase duty weapons and getting turned down. 

In Criminology we learned of the "Balloon Effect" in reference to anti-crime efforts. Take a balloon that is half full of air and push your finger into it. What happens? The balloon will sink in around your finger but rise everywhere else. Those that study crime trends have proven this over and over. Focus on efforts on burglaries and robberies will go up, etc. If we close the loophole the not-so-nice people will still get their hands on guns- by breaking into homes, stores, cars, etc, and taking them.

WalMart also stopped selling Chirstmas trees. I went in yesterday to get one and they were out. The clerk said they weren't ordering any more. I found gas grills and garden hoses in their place, so they aren't even holding shelf space for them any more.

I hope every gun manufacturer moves from states like NY and IL. Moreover, I believe it is time that the manufacturers ban together and start refusing sale and service to states that pass and support such nonsense. Ronnie Barrett did that in CA and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that man.

I agree the timing is a little messed up but my cow. Somebody dropped the ball. If someone was against guns they were that way before this game came out. It's just more grandstanding. I am not going to walk on eggshells for these idiots. There is nothing that can be done to please them that doesn't involve banning guns so why try? They have us doing everything we can to keep them from throwing a fit. They are just like spoiled children. And they know it!!! They are using it and it is working. Registration inevitably leads to confiscation.  I would fight it as I would fight confiscation.   Would I support a simple "phone in, no firearm info, no fee" check?  Certainly, as long as you can assure me there will be no lasting record of any sort.  As Congress couldn't get the NCIS center to destroy their daily backups, I kind of doubt you can assure me of that - but feel free to try!  I feel certain most gun owners would give it a whirl, just for peace of mind.  I am equally certain the criminal element will continue to get their firearms as before - burglary and straw purchases, usually - and won't be bothered by this in the least.   Purchase permit?  It isn't "shall not be greatly infringed".  It says "shall not be infringed".  Now why do you suppose?    Again, this law is predicated on the belief that criminals can be trusted to obey the law, but law abiding citizens can't, and therefore must be tracked, registered, permitted.   In short, NO.

It seems to me, that if a gun sale is between two Tennessee residents, the federal government should have no jurisdiction of that sale since no state lines were crossed. Tennessee state laws should be the only ones relevent.

I have mixed feelings on this topic. Since %40 of all guns are supposedly purchased without a background check I find it hard to believe that by eliminating private sales it wouldn't help keep the guns out away from certain people. Obviously there is no way to do this without infringing on the rights of everyone else.   Remember, a lot of these nut job are cowards. I don't think they would have the balls to break into a house or car to steal a firearm. I also don't believe that the crime rate will drop dramatically once private sales are outlawed.   One thing I would be ok with is only allowing private sales between people who both have their HCP/CCW. I also like the idea of private sales being done at your local PD with a background check provided by them at little to no charge. Obviously this may not be feasible.      Like I said, I have really mixed feelings. I can see both sided of the argument.

I guess what I mean is I don't want a private business to regulate the cost of a personal sale. I already do this for guns I have shipped in the mail and have to drive 45 minutes because one local gun shop won't do it and the other charges $100. You have to think big picture, not just within your corner where you have the benefit of a dealer with a degree of ethics.

Closing "loopholes" as the antis want it will absolutely restrict my ability to buy sell and force me to be at the whim of a private business when it comes to that. Perhaps if it was done through your local LEO at no charge I wouldn't be so vehemently against it, but if they changed the law it would be an additional 50 bucks (or a lot more since gun stores could really stick it to you then) just to purchase an item. There has to be a responsible way we can restrict sales to felons without screwing over law abiding citizens, but the latter doesn't seem to be a concern.

Actually, this may turn out to be our opportunity to put a stake through the heart of "sporting purposes".  I think imports are going to be his main angle of attack.   I'll also hazard a w.a.g. that he'll try to go after domestic magazines and rifles as 'destructive devices', and claim he can do this through a rule change by F troop.  Likewise for 'armor piercing' ammo.  Suddenly rifle ammo will fall under this.  He may attack ammo through the EPA.   I foresee lots of lawsuits arising, especially from the Second Amendment Foundation.  They asked to be present at Bidens' little clambake and were refused.

It needs to be law, that they are not allowed to call late night sessions to pass bills in any level of the government like a thief in the night.   They are stealing Freedom from The American People like a thief in the night.

Is is wrong to ask for pics?   If there is a hole in the roof just go to Lowe's or Home Depot, get a roll of flashing and some roof repair caulk/cement, climb up there and fix it.  Plenty of info on the web about how to fix a leak.

Either go in the attic or on the roof and look around. If it was at a 45 degree angle then the leak mightt be over another room and may not show up right away. Glad nobody was hurt BTW. I bet bricks were shat!!!

I would use a single stage press with a cartridge of that size and type of shooting you will do with it   The Dillon's are the best progressives for various reasons...however that rifle cartridge isn't one you will crank out hundreds of rounds per session. Much of the fun will be finding the best recipe for that gun.  This involves many different powders, charges, and bullets. In short....any ole single stage press and a decent set of dies will be ideal for that cartridge.   I have several dillon presses for most handgun cartridges, but aside from .223 I see no need for one to be used on rifle cartridges considering the lower volume of shooting and differences in loading bottlenecks.  I load straight wall rifle rounds too (45/70 and .444) and still only shoot them enough to use the single stage.

There's one gun control measure i'll back, Obama should never sell guns to Mexican drug cartels. Wonder if that's on his conscience? No.

  That is exactly right.   I've heard many say that the idea of citizens going up against a "future" tyrannical US government is just fantasy even if ARs and such were legal. I then quickly remind them of Afghanistan during the 80's when a ragtag army using nothing but small arms gave a world power all they could handle. Not to mention our own revolution where again the largest and most advanced army on the planet was bested by a vastly outgunned group of patriots. The will of the people, and a just cause, goes a long way when it comes to winning a war......
