  4. Ive passed up several nice bucks that were 3 to 3.5 year olds. Had a 3.5 that would have easily grossed 140 inches. Had an encounter wity one of my big mature bucks but he was out of my pistol range. I only hunt with pistols. Yes it has cost me some really big bucks but I love the challenge!!! Only deer ive gotten is my 10 point velvet. Unless its a mature buck im not shooting it. Already made peace with it lol.

  6. It was actually a series of 4 main quakes, with hundreds of aftershocks. The "big 4" occurred between December 16, 1811 and February 7, 1812, with aftershocks large enough to be felt until 1817. Numerous events have occurred since, with a few in the @6 range on the Richter Scale. Since Memphis State installed monitoring equipment in 1974, over 4k quakes have been recorded. The New Madrid Fault Zone remains as one of the most active in North America, with potential for massive destruction. I live in the area, which gets quakes that can be felt every couple of years, about once per decade one causes some sort of damage, albeit not very widespread or serious ...

  7. I was in that exact same place at my previous job. Took me years to get out of there. Do I love my new job, no, but I work less hours and don't take it home. I have occasion to come in for special tasks on weekends, but that is maybe a few hours every couple months. I was working 60-80 hours at my last job. Can you guess my pay setup.?....yep salary. Now I am hourly if I do OT work. It is hard to change because you have to find time and energy to look for jobs, apply, and interview. It can seem like a deep dark hole. My family had stopped including me in activities. They just assumed that I would be working. That was one of the big reasons I started looking for a new place. The other was my health. I could see how fast it was going down under that stress.

  9. Yep. There’s a reason the University of Memphis has a pretty significant earthquake research center.

  10. I think you made a typo there Doug. If it was an 8.8 we'd be dealing with a catastrophic event. The first event was a 4.4 followed by a 3.3

  13. The only way this works is to have a national registry and track who owns what. That is it. Otherwise how would anyone know who is SUPPOSED to have what and be able to enforce it if you gave or sold something to someone without doing the check ? Otherwise there is no mechanism to know if someone sold something to someone without doing a check. We need to make it known that if you support Universal background checks you are supporting universal gun registration...period. I fear at some point one monkey who has had enough is going to stand up and say "No" and others will join him all hell will break loose... (For those not tracking that "monkey" reference.... that is what Cornelius (in Escape From the Planet of the Apes (IIRC) ) said was how the Simian revolution started...one day one monkey (Ceasar) had enough of being told what to do by humans and stood up and said "NO" when ordered to do something.....

  14. No, you'd be anti-gun if you wanted/supported banning bump stocks. Just like I'm not anti-gun because I don't want to ban revolvers, although I own none.

  15. Vetoed by Trump? Really? Lets see...Republican House? Check. Republican Senate? Check. Nobody "had" to do anything, but Trump volunteered the banning of bump stocks. Why? If it were to get passed the House and Senate, I think Trump would sign it in a heartbeat if he thought he'd gain a friend over it.

  17. Here are a couple of pics of a knife that I had him build for me. I got the idea from looking at some Randall Knives and asked him if he could put his spin on a Randall 1-8, and he came through. I can't wait to get this knife in my hands. Thanks again Don and who ever made the Randall style sheath to go along with it.
