  3. Well, my experience is just anecdotal, but I can tell you that I just sold a rifle within a couple of days of listing it on this forum. On the other hand, I had my choice of several rifles when I was looking to buy something specific (on a much wider market). I think as in any market it amounts to offering up a reasonable price and getting lucky enough to find a buyer or seller who matches up with your offering or desire.

  11. I got called once for a murder trial. From what they told us in Jury selection, I gathered that the defense was gonna dispute the arresting officers. One of the questions asked was "Do you personally know any Police Officers?" I raised my hand and was asked who do you know? I said "Most of the Bartlett Police Department. I fix their patrol cars." Dismissed!

  14. my favorite comment was "New fear unlocked" That's a crazy powerful round and the barrels are built like tanks. The receiver, not so much though. That story about the bolt being driven backwards into one shooter's should gave me the heebie jeebies too. That could have been WAY worse.

  16. I'll interject my 2 cents here. As someone that carried a gun for work, we were advised to keep the gun stock . Other than maybe a grip change. Reason being, if you are ever involved in a shooting, even a clean shooting, a liberal prosecutor will try to paint you as someone that wanted to make their gun 'more' deadly. Grips and possibly sights are not an issue. But start messing with triggers, or trigger pulls, and it gets dicey. I keep my carry guns all stock except for Talon grips, that were mentioned above. This is just my opinion, but I have known a few folks involved in shootings that ended up spending a LOT of money for lawyers, even though the shoots were good. Perfect example. A local businessman back where I lived got mugged but was able to shoot the guy. The mugger was a 18 or 19 yr old that was always in trouble. However, the liberal newspaper ran the article with the title "Local man shoots teenager" , not "Local man shoots mugger". So he was seen as already guilty before anyone even knew the facts.

  18. I too was amazed by the people they picked for the jury. Had a property title lawyer on our jury who knew nothing about criminal and a couple others who seemed to just take up space in the air. Juries are supposed to be made up of peers but the way they nullify prospective jurors is amazing to me. It seems lawyers want certain kind of people on juries and pick through them not getting real piers. The only way I got on was the prosecutor run out of people he could kick off the jury. This poor guy on our trial was in a real predicament. During deliberations just about everyone in the room said the old guy's lawyer was a total waste. His witnesses were the old guy's family members. They all had been in trouble with the law before this trial. No neighbors or any other witnesses. Deputy testified several cars(neighbors) drove by and both neighbors on both sides of the house were watching, but they called none of them. That is what made me realize one had better have a good lawyer and your own investigators in your corner if you are forced to do something defensively. The defendant's lawyer did tell the judge he was unprepared, but the judge went on with the trial. When I went into this, I knew nothing about criminal trials. Our case took 5 days with us deliberating late on Friday night to get finished before the weekend. Our jury, and not his lawyer's skill, brought an innocent verdict for the old man. One of the jurors asked the DA why this trial was brought in the first place. He told him he did not like self-defense cases and would try and prosecute all he could. It was a real eye opener for me. Monkeylizard is totally correct when he said, "It comes down to you have as much justice as you can pay for." Boy Howdy, oh so right. If you don't have a big bank account one had better have some kind of financial backup if one ever goes to trial.

  21. I did what I could, contacted both Senators and my Representative but obviously my opinion does not matter to them. As with most I am very disappointed that control of both chambers and the Presidency still does not give the Republicans enough nerve/strength/resolve etc. to represent the people that put them in office. The $200 was not my issue it is the government overreach. I suppose I will continue to hold my nose and vote for the lesser of two evils but it is so frustrating. Sorry for the rant.

  22. Don’t get me wrong, a Taurus is adequate, but honestly, as I am reading it, I think your mindset on it is a bit messed up. You are naturally correct in focusing on carry gun before the (presumably more expensive) fun gun in a couple of months. But the carry gun is life saving equipment, and therefore not something to skimp on. Especially when significantly better arms to be had for minimal price differences. On this forum you can often see well cared for Glocks (for example) go $400 or less. Additionally (and this part often gets overlooked) all the other equipment like spare parts, magazines, and (especially) holsters are ubiquitous. I recommend people build these costs into the initial investment for the best return. Lastly, have you shot numerous models, to include the Taurus, for firsthand experience? Online opinions (mine included) mean Jack squat in the face of personal experience.
