  1. I’d be here all day trying to pick 5 or even 10, or more. We had the greatest music of all time. I’m sure all generations say that; but with us it’s an undisputed fact.

  2. This is why I don't have a true favorite, we Gen-Xers experienced some great popular music (and have seen it copied poorly and quite well over the last 40 years) Chicago is high on my list, though Tower of Power has rotated this week's #1 spot (found a CD while cleaning) If Mrs GtG's was polled, MoTown would be well represented in her faves.

  3. Life is good here. Lots going on this time of year almost every weekend. We just finished up Hot August Nights week long and city wide car show. The Hot Air Ballon races is the next big event unless you want to watch camel racing... Hope you and the family are doing well.

  4. You most certainly are a man of infinite good judgment and with a discerning ear for great music. Just when I think I've picked a favorite...usually Up on Cripple Creek. I'll go back to The Last Waltz and pull the best from it up... The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down/Ophelia/The Shape I'm in/Life is a Carnival/...and of course...The Weight. Yes, probably the best know from The LGD Band, but arguably some of their absolute best.

  7. About 8 or 9 years ago myself and the rangemaster took several expired vests in various conditions and shot them them with all the rounds they were rated for. All the vests that were taken care of stopped them while the ragged vests that looked like a slob took care of them failed. The vest that was around 10 years expired held up against a 12 gauge slug.

  8. We don’t agree on much at all, but we agree on that. This Gen-Xer is jealous of the acts y’all Boomers got to see in their primes. In no particular order: Beatles Steely Dan Pink Floyd Rolling Stones Led Zepplin

  9. I guess for me the ultimate was the Allman brothers. Saw them in late 71 when Duane was still alive. Followed in 72 by the Who in Greensboro. Actually met, well at least saw up close and personal in the lobby of the 4 Seasons Hotel, the Who and had words with Daltrey and a couple of good looking blondes. I greatly enjoyed the 70's rock and roll scene and all that went with it.

  11. While I generally like harder music, I will say I saw The Allman Brothers headline a festival and they blew me away. So much energy for hours.

  12. Aretha's vocals paired with Duane Allman's guitar genius. It just doesn't get much better.

  13. Sadly, been there, done that. I saw/heard The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in a concert at TTU in the early 70's

  14. I finally have time to reply and totally agree on The Band my friend. I'm just a long time admirer of Duane Allman's studio guitar work. Especially when he play on "Loan Me a Dime" with Boz Scaggs. I only "kinda"saw the Band once. It was Grath Hudson, Levon Helm and Tim Drummond along with Neil Young and Bob Dylan. It was at an outdoor concert at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco.. They played an awesome version of "The Weight". I'm certain I had a great time...but it was 1975 and some details may be sketchy.

  15. Over the last 5/6 years, I have bought 3 tool carts from HF. My wife keeps grabbing them for her crafts supplies and as a rolling work table. They've held up very well, and the price was great. Always got them at sale times. Usually around 130 otd. I have bought one of the US General boxes for my assorted tools in the shed and her workshop. Both good enough for my use. But my real storage for bigger tools is a 5 drawer file cabinet. It works great. Paid 60 for it at a salvage store. Wish there had been a few more at that price, I'd line the attached garage wall with them.

  16. Yep, seen that too. It's like ordering Honda Emblems and putting them on a Rolls Royce. A real mechanic can spot a fake box in a heartbeat.............JMHO

  17. I was aware of her music growing up. I became a lifelong fan thanks to Jake and Elwood. 1985 in my case. Don't know her particular religious flavor, but I hope there is another member of the heavenly choir tonight.

  18. RIP Aretha. Her voice and attitude spans generations and always will. Little bit of trivia for you: Elvis also died on an August 16th. So did Robert Johnson, if you’re really into music and know who that is.

  19. Lance at "TriggerShims.com" is your friend on the Ruger 77/22 22 Hornet. I replaced my sear with a Volquartsen Target sear and spring. Took my trigger fron 6+ lbs down to about 2lbs 4 oz. He has videos on utube on how to safely do it yourself. Super nice guy and fantastic products...reasonably priced. Check him out.

  20. https://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/insane-dashcam-footage/?utm_source=email&utm_medium=20180817_FridayDigest_187&utm_campaign=/blog/insane-dashcam-footage/ INSANE Dashcam Footage Shows Roadside Shootout between Police, Suspect by JORDAN MICHAELS on AUGUST 13, 2018 Related Tags: Buzz, Dashcam, News, Police, Shootout Newly-released dashcam footage from a traffic stop in Pennsylvania shows just how quickly a routine arrest can turn deadly. The video depicts two Pennsylvania State Troopers, Ryan Seiple and Seth Kelly, attempting to arrest 22-year-old Daniel K. Clary. The incident took place last year on November 7, 2017, and Clary was convicted in June of attempted murder of two police officers. “The troopers were in a knock-down, drag-out fight along the side of the road with vehicles speeding by them, and it got very, very violent,” State Police Captain Richard D’Ambrosio told Fox29 after viewing the video of the altercation. The video above begins after Seiple had already cited Clary for speeding, according to The Morning Call. Seiple began to suspect that Clary had been driving under the influence, and he asked the suspect to step out of the vehicle after Kelly arrived on the scene. Clary begins to resist when Seiple and Kelly try to place him under arrest, and the subsequent fight lasts one minute and six seconds as cars speed past along Pennsylvania’s busy Route 33. Seiple and Kelly both try to subdue Clary with Tasers and blows to the head, but the man continues to struggle. Seiple used his Taser on Clary twice and punched him five times, according to The Morning Call. Kelly tasered Clary five times, threw nine punches and kneed him once. Clary tries to grab the officers’ weapons throughout the course of the fight, and he eventually breaks free, runs to his car, and grabs a revolver. He fires six rounds, hitting Kelly in the neck, shoulder, and leg, according to Capt. D’Ambrosio. Seiple continues firing at Clary’s car, but the suspect soon drives away. In total, Kelly fired 21 rounds and Seiple fired 20, according to The Morning Call. SEE ALSO: WATCH: Suspects, Police Exchange Over 60 Rounds in Insane Shootout Authorities said Kelly likely saved his own life by applying a tourniquet to his severed femoral artery. He remained in the hospital 25 days, 12 of which in a medically induced coma, according to LehighValley.com. He arrived at the hospital clinically dead, but medical personnel were able to revive him. Clary drove himself to the hospital and was treated for multiple injuries, including a bullet lodged in his head. He was convicted of multiple felonies and faces decades in prison. Northampton County First Deputy District Attorney Terence Houck told The Morning Call he waited to release the dashcam footage until getting permission from Seiple and Kelly. “Our concerns have always been the victims, the state troopers in this matter, protecting them,” Houck told the newspaper. “But after speaking with them, they wanted it released, as did I.”
