  1. I always liked the Model 41, and have shot several. Made me almost regret selling a 1974 production, NIB model that I inherited. My Dad had bought it for a friend, or so I was told, and when the buyer backed out on a 200 buck 22, it just sat in Dad's closet for many years, completely covered up. Short version of the story, I put it in my safe and left it alone until roughly 2010. Decided I really didn't need it, as I had a High Standard Olympic Victory Model. So I took it to the old M'boro gun show one Saturday and walked it around. Priced it at 1000. Had many offers I turned down, and one guy kept coming back. I held firm and got my price for it. Why? I really had no attachment to it. Sure, Dad had bought it, but not for himself. We had never shot it together, and it was too nice a pistol to just sit round and look at yearly. These days, I sometimes think on it, but have that Olympic and other 22s. I'm content. For now. lol
  2. I'm a disagreeable old sort. I don't often do the "Welcome" for newbies. But for a Waterlogged Submariner, I'll make and exception. lol I have a cousin that was in the sub service for several years. I can't quote his base and unit for you, but I learned a few things from him. Did a tour of an old WWII sub years ago and gained a whole new perspective. I know the boats are much larger now, but still have to admire anyone who can go down in them. I'm claustrophobic, and I'd have to be strapped down and sedated to do it. Thank you for your service to this nation, and a big welcome to the funny farm.
  3. Sometimes I think that's so.
  4. Ditto on the wiggling ejector and the love for the Shield platform. I have 4 now. (don't ask) 3 9s and a 45. No problems with any of them.
  5. My condolences for your loss. Yes, cancer is a vile thing. Too many of us have experienced it. Good luck with your re-sowing, and hopefully all will be good for some springtime ground cover.
  6. I like the looks of it. Think I'll check it out.
  7. Looked very good. I hope to see myself involved with it soon.
  8. My opinion...in one word...DISGUSTING. For all reasons already stated and more, this is a judgement that not only was wrong, it will precipitate more similar attempts to blame everyone and everything but the responsible party. Apologies to Erik88, I responded emotionally to the original posting. We think alike. lol
  9. Prayers for Ratfink's family and friends. Sadly, many of us, myself especially included, learn this lesson too late.
  10. Yes. That's what I use! Just have to keep the flowers fresh or use artificial to get the effect right.
  11. Interesting. I do like the SAS treatment and the sighting system, but would like to see(and try) one firsthand.
  12. I vote for coyote. Long body and bushy tail. At least that's what I see.
  13. You didn't happen to live and sell it in Knoxville about 4 years ago did you? I bought a like new Rossi 92 on a Sunday meet up there. It's a sweet rifle. My wife likes it too. That pretty much means it's hers now.
  14. I had a relatively light bout with them in July/August, mostly around our garage and shop area. Haven't seen any lately.
  15. Yes...you do. Everyone should have at least one. lol My father is probably grinning and shaking his head at that line. Growing up, I just didn't like or want one. I have a few, and still have his Remington Rand competition 45 he brought home from Korea.
  16. You know, until you mentioned it, I hadn't thought about the front serrations much on the Glocks. I guess I'd have to say that I really don't have a strong opinion either way on them. They may not be esthetically pleasing to some, especially on a nice 1911, but I usually don't pay much attention to them. Yes, I know I'm a bit strange. lol
  17. That is wonderful news! Prayer...the best medicine!
  18. Nice. Almost makes me want one. Almost. lol Buddy, you know I've had several and just couldn't like them. Don't know why, just didn't work for me. My Shield is running hard against the 43X, and it's close. Giving a slight edge to the 43, and it hurts to say that. But I did pre-order some mags for it.
  19. Slightly off track, but your "multiple flavors" comment has me wondering just how many different countries/nations are represented by my meager collection. I'll be wanting to find out now, and that means I now have another good reason for a new inventory. lol Off the top of my head, I can think of10...Turkey, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Belgium, Germany, Japan, Checkoslovkia, a few I'll just lump into "Russian", and of course, USA.
  20. Still funny! And I love Monty Python!
  21. Got my 2 yesterday. I must say they seem much more durable than I expected them to be. Thanks again Erich. Are you getting a commission from Amazon for those you've "sold" here? LOL You should.
  22. I agree. I've had several of the Croatian XD pistols and like them a lot. Like you, I still have a couple squirrelled away in different places. A 4" in 357 Sig is my "Oh Crap!" gun. The one to grab if you want to make big holes in something. I still am desiring a Masada though. I have a fondness for the IWI/IMI products that started years ago with the Jericho and the DE pistols. But the promo video for the Hellcat(and I don't really care for the name) sure is interesting. Maybe I should have waited a bit longer and not gotten the 43X. Nah. It's cool.
  23. Me Too, brother! And I'm here with my leg up and ice packs on as well. Had my knee replacement done a week ago. Bored out of my gourd!
  24. Guys, GrabAGun has the TX 22 on sale today for 209. They actually say 159, but of course that's after the 50 Taurus rebate. Still in stock as of 10 min ago.
