  1. I won't say I've never had a problem with a Taurus; but each time it was resolved to my satisfaction. I had a 22 Tracker that was a total waste, couldn't get consistent hits with it. Sent it back, and to my surprise received a new one. The other wasn't a gun issue per se, but when Taurus did a massive recall on the PT series, mine got lost in the shuffle evidently. It did take a while, but I received a new upgraded model for my loss. I still have a few and would buy another if the right opportunity presented itself.
  2. Probably me as well since I have a bunch of 357sig rounds.
  3. But like the Corsair, both of these vehicles were produced at a time when the big push was for cheap, economical, small cars to compete with the imports. Were they high quality? No. Were they dependable? Somewhat. Did they compare favorably price-wise? IIRC...I think they did. They were the first efforts of the US Auto makers to compete with the massive number of imports. As such, these cars had a market and a following for years. US attempts did get better. It just took many models and years to get there. Sadly for us, I think still that goal hasn't been fully realized.
  4. Perhaps because more younger people are getting into buying firearms? Maybe looking for something they consider more simple and uncomplicated to operate? I know several women who prefer the revolvers to semi-autos, but would say they are in the minority choosing them. Don't know if you, or much of anyone will agree with this comment, but here it is. Revolvers on the whole haven't changed in pricing that I've seen anyway, for the last 15 years or so that I've been watching the wheel guns. Always went the semi-auto route until just around the century change. Seemed that all the big names, well the recognized names were 350-500, with the Colts seeming to be the exception. Seems that the Python/Snake Gun mystique had them on the leading edge of pricing. That was about the time I really started looking at wheelies. Since then, I think there's been a slow rise in pricing to the point that the sub 400 revolver is the exception rather than the rule. Taurus revolvers can still be had in that range, and the new Rock Island line are about Taurus pricing(at least the only ones I've seen.). I personally say that revolver prices have really been stable for so long, that any changes in the marked pricing is very noticeable. Then there's the new fears of semi-auto bans, 10 + bans, etc. I've talked to several people who are thinking the revolvers would be a "safe" entity in the coming times. Is that the last line of availability for us? Is that causing a rush on revolvers? I think so.
  5. My cousin in Ga is the one who really talks up the Hi-Point carbines. He has several in different calibers, but raves the most about the 10mm. I was really tempted to go that route, but just didn't want to go into a caliber I'd have to scrounge for ammo.
  6. I didn't consider the idea of a gas grenade/pistol launcher. But most likely that is it. Can't see the rifle. But what about the stick/rod leaning on the tire carrier?
  7. Now that's a well equipped squad car! Can't be certain. but that sure looks like 2 grenades on the running board. And is that a revolver with a stock up near the front?
  8. Had access to a buddy's Vega Wagon. Drove the **** out of it! Very fun little car to drive. I wanted to buy it, but a late night party saw him run it into a ditch and pretty well mess it up beyond repair. Also had a girlfriend that had a Pinto Sportabout. A little hatchback thing. A 4 cyclinder 4-speed. It was a quick little toy. I really enjoyed running light-to-light with it. Actually think I liked the Pinto more the the girl. But that might have been because she dumped after finding out I had a wild makeout session with her roomie at a party one night. Good memories. lol!
  9. Agreed! For me anyway, there's not much more fun to shoot than any of the various 9mm pistols. Yep...it's real easy to empty a whole bunch of mags before you realize it! Of course with today's prices, I have to curtail that pleasure.
  10. I'm a few years behind you and absolutely and totally agree with you. I've had a few falls in recent years, one of which was viewed by a TGO buddy. I think it scared him. I just lay on my side and laughed. But back on point, you are right. We have no business going out in snow and ice unless it's a necessity. It's too bad that some of us in our age group don't always follow that advice. Had an Amazon truck stuck on the grade in front of our home this afternoon. So of course I just had to go out and check on him. No I didn't fall. But let me tell you that was the slowest out and back 50 yards I've ever done! I swear this getting old and losing balance absolutely sucks!
  11. Ah the smell of fresh vanilla. The most potent aphrodisiac in the world for me. A young lady I almost married back in my Cookeville/Sparta days wore something that smelled like vanilla. It was my weakness for many months. I followed her around like dog chasing a rabbit. lol To this day, I cannot smell anything of vanilla aroma and not think of her.
  12. Nice place. Looks quiet and serene. Not to mention beautiful.
  13. Got one in 45 coming!
  14. Early 2000's I think. My memory isn't so good. But I was caught in Franklin one morning. Just started my sale route when it began. Came fast and heavy. The normal 35 minute return to the warehouse office took 5 hours. Every road blocked, I backtracked, circled, and just plain took any path I could find. All this in a 16 ft box truck. At least I was mostly above all the OTHER idiots on the road.
  15. As near as I can tell, we got an additional 1-2 inches overnight here in East Nasty. Probable depth with the first ice/sleet is close to 7 inches here. So I have little interest in going out. Blessed with plenty of food. No power outages, and have internet and cable operational. So wife is happy with Hallmark channels and westerns, and I got the pc to play on. All is good. Until I run out of fresh milk. Then I'll start to panic.
  16. If we stay in this house, that's what we will do in a new system is required. Seem the best for us here.
  17. Can't answer your questions, but I will recommend NOT using the emergency heat setting unless it is a real emergency. If it's like mine...It will double or more your electric bill for the time it is on. Don't ask how I know this. It's really embarrassing. And I was very PO'ed over it.
  18. Thanks. I haven't been out since Sunday morning. Barely stick my head out the door to let Molly do her doggy business. Maybe Thursday. Have a couple things I need to do.
  19. I did have a couple of these at one time. but my late brother-in-law wanted them desperately. So...being family...I traded them to him. Never found out what happened to them. Strange as he wouldn't open a sealed package like that except in an emergency. But a lot of things were never found as we cleaned up the remains of his property and life. I do miss the little fart though.
  20. Long stock for a Mini-14?
  21. Correct. It's just a question of availability. LOL! That's the core issue, isn't it? But what I mean to say is that any one of us, just like Snaveba says(well...paraphrasing anyway), we all buy when it's available to us. Online or store. If it's there...we buy. Individuals buying may, and does, add to shortages in many cases. But that shortage is individual availability/shortage. Now combine that availability/shortage with the number of people like us who purchase, governmental contracts like the Fema deals a few years ago, military and foreign sales, AND the possible unknow number of new firearms buys who want the same things we do (Readily available ammo and some to have at home.), things really begin to get dicey. I've read in many news blurbs and online headline articles, that the number of new/first time firearms buyers has not only increased dramatically every month for the last 2 years, but projects 3 million plus new purchases. And that doesn't include sales made FTF without BATFE recording.
  22. LOL! Looks like what I'd like to have in MANY products stashed away!
  23. This^^^. Somewhat. lol I will never apologize for my buying what I find. Willpower has nothing to do with it. Prudence is the game!
  24. About that same time, I was considering ordering a few more things. My wife, being of sound mind and quite familiar with my buying habits, said go ahead. Get a few things. I'd rather you buy ammo than other things you might waste money on. Well...to my shame, I said no. I'm good. Dumbass! I had contemplated buying a couple cases of 9 and a case of 45. Just good to decent range ammo, which is about all I buy. But I didn't. Much to my everlasting regret. Coulda...woulda...shoulda! Stocking ammo is never a bad idea. Holding off buying is. I knew what had happened in the past. I just didn't think hard enough on it. If the opportunity to buy at prices remotely similar to that era again happens...I will again buy multiple cases! BTW. I don't run around chasing ammo in the stores. It's not that I think it a waste of time, I just am not going to feed the cycle of that kind of search. However. Should I stumble across something I shoot, I will buy all I can. Period. Call me anything you want. Hoarder. Prepper. Greedy. Idiot. Whatever. I will be prepared and hedge against this crap. I don't like being at the mercy of the high market and not being able to do my recreational shooting.
  25. Can't comment on roads here in East Nashville since I haven't been out since early morning when this first started, but I can tell you that my drive is ice! Heavy coat and it's still coming down so hard it sounds like a good steady rain. We are on a dead end, with an uphill grade that stops at the cross street. A good slow incline until the last 40-50 feet that has close to a 40% incline. I don't foresee getting out of here for a while.
