area-nashville Lebanon gun show Jan 16 & 17. 2021
hipower replied to Grunt67's topic in Events and Gatherings
Well, you guys have talked me out of going. lol It wasn't very hard though. I had thought of walking a couple of pistols around to sell, but I'll just do my usual and try here. Just too cold and windy for an old fat man to stand in line. -
Good choice!

Good SHTF Survival Fiction Books
hipower replied to plank white's topic in Survival and Preparedness
William W. Johnstone's Out of the Ashes series. Re-reading actually for probably 4th time. Decent stuff from the 80s. Mack Maloney's Wingman series. Pure numbing bs, but fun. And lastly, Jerry Ahern's Survivalist. Again, decent...but his stand alone novels are much better. -
Own a couple of Rocks...9 and 45. Both cost me less than 350 apiece a few years back. Each will eat anything I have used in them and run like a 1000+ pistol. I can say with a straight face the neither have ever had a problem. Maybe 2000 rounds run thru each. so just barely broken in. Wish I had a few more of them before the prices started rising so much on them.

You mean those things I use for bookmarks in my paper books? lol Yeah I still have hard copies of all my reading materials. Worst case scenerio...I have something to burn for heat.
-
The 856 3'' barrel model seems to be THE one. lol Sold out everywhere I could check. I'm still looking for one myself.
-
Prayers and good thoughts for you.

Don't feel bad. I had to ask my wife...what's a bookmark and how do I do it? She looked at me like I was an idiot. Felt like it when she told me. Add it to you Favorites list. In my defense, I'm old and not a tech person.
-
Gotta ask...a 2" 45 wheelie? What is it. Where is it? did you buy it? lol
-
I have a few...but you have my meager set all shamed. I need a few more. lol

I tried singing up for Parler a day or so back, but didn't quite understand all the things I was asked to do. Never got that far as to being asked for that sort of verification. Good I guess. But I will say that I do not add DOB, DL, anything like that to a random inquiry or site. Even these Gun Contests like Classic Firearms as an example. they ask for DOB. That stops me right there. I won't pass that out. The same with SS numbers. Now it's not that I think I'm invisible or invincible on line; I know just enough to know that a reasonably intelligent guy with tech say can pretty much have my entire life in just minutes. And that truly is frightening for me and all the rest of us. Now a sidebar...listening to Fox today doesn't really make me feel good about the coming administration. Boils down to this I think...You were not with me. You are my enemy and will be destroyed. And Heaven help you if you are identified as being a speaker(or an attendee one source said on interview); you will be targeted. Social media, politicians, business, now banking industry getting involved. Unless you are RED, and wildly, loudly, goose-stepping in line...you are nothing.

Erich has a good point there. And it gives me an idea. lol I actually have 2 of the 22 conversion kits for Sigs. I bought them on an impulse from G&L a few years back. Saw them sitting on the shelf and snatched them. And promptly put them in the safe. lol I believe for a P220 and a 1911 frame. Have to check.

I just said something very similar to my wife on the subject of the American voting public.

I'll have to take your word (and about a gazillion others commenting all over the www) for it. I've never seen it. Some people I used to work with say their kids absolutely love it. Personally, I think they are lying. I remember those guys...bigger SYFY nerds than me. lol

But...but...where else could we go and be ourselves?
-
Right. There are many points of conflict in this article. I just picked the most obvious to me.

Extensive amount of information in this. Mostly accurate, but the writer's evident bias towards semi-auto rifles doesn't sit well with me. He comes across as much a firearms control person as any I've read. His assumption that we need more arbitrary regulations and NFA control are not for me, and I think many here if you read it.

Wife introduced me to Fiskars garden tools. They have been really good. I use the racheting snips and clippers a lot here

Sadly...Homer and I share the same fondness for BACON! BACON!

Machete! One of the worst movies I've ever seen. Robert Rodrigez at his best! And I thoroughly enjoyed it! Laughed all the way to the end!

Bragging or complaining?
