I think that was me dancing in the 70s. No wonder I didn't pick up girls at the dances.

First, I'm really enjoying your videos! You speak well, speak plainly and understandably. Secondly, your information is accurate and easily understood. You don't use some mall ninja gun-speak to impress some of the video watchers out here in the real world. Thirdly, I heartily approve of your purchase. I've owned a Scorpion for 2 years now and absolutely love it. I don't shoot it as much as I would like anymore. Life just seems to get in the way of personal pleasure. I think your take on the Scorpion is spot on. The addition of HBI parts is one of the best things you can do to a Scorpion. I did the trigger replacement, changed to a steel charging rod, extended the charging handle, did the AK style safety on the right side( works great btw), and not really necessary, but added the duck-bill mag release. Each change has made a difference for me in handling the Scorpion. I do like your using the weapon light as a hand stop. I think I'll give that a try. As I said previously, I really enjoyed this video. Please keep them up as you can. Looking forward to you doing a suppressor on it. I'd love to, but the cost, the long wait, and my advanced age make me think twice on that.

Fair price for these days. I wouldn't mind having the 20 guage just for S&G times, but it would probably just sit in the safe.

Yeah...but he only shoots them up in the air. So what does he know.

Welcome KO! I think you'll like our brand of insanity here. It's a good group, full of knowledgeable, helpful, and fun people.

You might be right. I have some family near there. They are a mite...strange.

Thank you. I will say that I was blessed in so many ways during that time. I had family and friends keeping me occupied, entertained, and covered in prayers. Sounds as if your wife was blessed in the same way as well. My prayers for you both. I have been "in remission" for 9 years now. Every day, every second is a blessing. Sometimes I forget that. I never, ever should. I'm pretty sure you and your wife feel the same.

Even a small knife can inflict damage. When my wife got started in nursing, and worked the required ER stint, she would come home and tell me horrible stories of knife wounds. Said gunshot wounds didn't bother her. There were usually only small holes visible, but a knife wound could be long, deep, and jagged. Much harder to clean and repair. Yes, I know guns and big calibers can do more now, but this was 44 years ago. You know, when all we had were those wimpy little 357s.

Thanks Wdood. It was a "fun" time. Anyway, I'm not a fan of double triggers. Otherwise, this Stoger has been good.

Leroy, I bought my wife a "John Wayne stagecoach gun." At least that's what my wife calls it. lol She has always LOVED John Wayne and commented many times on the shotgun doubles he carried in several movies. Pardon me, but I must set the stage for this tale... It's been almost 10 years ago now, but I went to a gun show in the old Wally World building in Smyrna. While I was dragging myself around looking at everything, I stopped to look at a couple of doubles lying on a table. The seller came up and immediately told me to come around and sit for a while. Said something to the effect...You look like death warmed over...you need to sit down. Well I did take him up and we talked a while. He said he wasn't trying to be nosey, but thought I was pretty ill. Said my color looked bad, and I was weak and just short of falling over. I laughed and accepted some water from him. I told him I was taking chemo and radiation and was tired but needed to get out for a while. As we talked, he told me that he thought so; his wife had just passed from cancer a few months earlier and I had some of the same look about me. We talked for about half an hour about his wife and my story. I told him I was looking for something for my wife and the JW story behind it. Said she'd been so much a rock for me during this that I wanted to give her a present...something that she'd never buy for herself. A shotgun. He picked up the one I'd been looking at...a 12 guage coach model, a Stoger, and said to take it to her, that it might cheer her up. The old gentleman actually tried to give it to me. Said I'd helped him just talking about his wife had made him feel better. I just could not accept it. I thanked him many times and said no, but I would buy it from him. He relented and finally said to give him 200 for it. Well of course I did and brought it home for her. Sad thing is, I never saw him again. Always wondered what happened with him. I really wanted to see him after I gave it to Susan and tell him how she reacted. It's been fired once by her, and short of a break-in or other threat...that's the last time she will fire it. It didn't put her down on her butt, but it was close. It resides in the corned by her nightstand with mini shells in it. Hope she never has to pick it up. Well...you can see I have nothing to do today. Just sit here and bore you all. Anyway Leroy, go for that coach gun! If you want it, get it. At our age...why not? We deserve a little fun.

Good SHTF Survival Fiction Books
hipower replied to plank white's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I have a Kindle, 2 actually, and have not used them. I know, that's sad. I really do have some things I'd like to read that are ebook only, or cost prohibitive. There are some books/authors that I will buy and keep, but a lot of things that would probably one time reads. Actually had several thousand books at one time. But the Great Nashville Flood took a lot of them. Plus at my age, I try to be a bit more judicious in my buying. LOL! Right. We went to an Estate Sale in Hendersonville last week and I bought 24 Hard Covers. Stephen King, Clive Cussler, and Dean Koontz. The sales promoters were asking 5 apiece at the start. But these guys don't like to have to move things themselves, so a little dickering was involved. I gave a buck apiece for them. Had I got there earlier, I would have bought more and really haggled on price. But a couple were skimming and picking as I got there. They took a hundred or more. Resellers maybe. Or just like me and buying for the future downtime. I guess half or more of my book buying is estate sale or used books these days. At a sale last fall, I got 57 I think it was for a buck each. All SYFY and mystery/thrillers; but things I had a bigger interest in. Short version...I like to read and it seems I like to hoard as well. -
Good SHTF Survival Fiction Books

Yes...reading is getting to be an expensive pastime. I got into Amazon's book selections 7 or 8 years ago. Back then selection was terrific and costs were competitive with brick and mortar stores. Kindle and E readers were the go to for everyone. Book costs were low and sales were high. High enough to give electronic media a stranglehold on material. If a writer wanted to publish, he had little choice as an unknown breaking in. Getting picked up by an established publisher was difficult. But going to Amazon and the like, got them out in the hands of buyers by electronic media. Writers got paid. Print costs were gone. E-publishing thrived. And took over. Novice writers had to get a public presence and a following to survive. To do that, they went to e-publishing. The cycle perpetuates and "hard" books are dying. That gives a virtual monopoly to Amazon and others. They control costs on all sides now. Buying material and publishing. Writers are getting paid. But we are paying the costs...again. We went to the dark side to get more selection and save money. Now we have loads of choices. Dozens, if not hundreds of stories and plots that differ little. So more gets "published", but is the reader served with quality? Or just more of the same, again and again. But that "saving money" part has vanished. Sorry, this is a sore spot for me. lol. I guess I got a bit carried away. -
Got to see BS&T in 1970/71. Was a fantastic show! I was at stage left about 50feet from the wall of speakers! I think I still vibrate from it! lol In fact, bouncin' and rockin' here now listenin' to this!

Been keeping an eye on this! I can't wait for it to open! Less than a 10 minute drive from me! At last I'll have, hopefully, a place to shoot that doesn't have a dungeon for a range and appreciates their customers. Wifey has already told me I MUST get whatever membership that is available from them, as I have been whining about needing some rest and relaxation on the range.

Four knives headed to a new home....
hipower replied to Grand Torino's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Very nice, my man! Always good to see your work. Very happy with all I've gotten from you in the past and hope to get more. -
Completely new roof on house and detached garage 2 years ago. Already had 2 layers, so totally stripped roof, 5 new turbine vents, about 100 ft of wood replaced, and a chimney taken down. Architectural shingles installed. 17K was the best price. A highly rated independent did it. I almost had a coronary over the cost. That was here in Nashville. A cousin had a similar job done in Cookeville for under 11K. Lots of different pricing depending on your location.

GREAT BIG LOL!!!

Amy Schumer?

Buddy, I've never gone that far into my Caniks. You are well known for being very thorough in stripping and maintaining your guns, and I applaud you for it. But I stop at basic field strip and cleaning. You are far beyond my level of capability.

Man! That was close! Looks like our yard back in '04. We had 6 trees down then. I worked all summer on cutting and cleaning it up. But I was in much better shape then and could walk straight without a cane and could use a chainsaw. These days, I'm lucky if I can walk to the mailbox without falling. lol Really, if anything I can do...call.

Sorry to hear that, Mark. I sometimes wound up there on my route. It's beautiful country. Had an account that worked on VWs. Probably didn't see him more than twice a year. I always said though, once I got there, I couldn't get out. It was far away from my usual stops. lol

AGREED!! Again, when I ran a parts route. I was in Brentwood almost every day. Bradford Pear trees will fall in a moderate wind I think. Beautiful trees, but very fragile. I can't even begin to put a count on how many of them I saw down when I did the Brentwood/Franklin run. As far as Hackberry trees, I've had my share and more of fun from them. We've lived here for 16 years and it seem every year we have one, or a part of one fall. Having one high topped this week that is split and will fall on the house. Hate paying for it, but don't want the hassle of an insurance claim on it, cause it will fall after a large portion is taken out.
-
LOL!!! Back in the days when I ran a parts territory I would laugh at the techs screaming about how damn hard it was to service so many of the vehicles of the last 30 years. Always praising the 50s and 60s cars. "Back then they were simpler, easier, and had room to work on 'em!!"

Blew through my part of East Nashville about 5 I think. Lots of swaying trees and a few small limbs down, but nothing like you guys got.

Correct...I agree.
