  1. Anyone here have a Security 9 with a high round count and usage ? I am just seeing how they are doing. Any problems ? How is function ? Any premature rust on them ? I was about to get one back the first of this year but held off in case there were any teething problems.
  2. I have the model that came with the Insight laser. I had issues with it form the beginning. The battery would drain really quick. Sent it back to S&W the first time and not sure what they did besides replace the batteries. Sent it off again a few weeks ago after readiung on a web site that they would replace the entire laser with a Crimson Trace model at no cost. Contact their customker service and confirmed that, removed the laser form the gun and mailed it back. Got a new CT model in the ,ail about 3-4 weeks later. Drop in installation and it seems fine.

    Steyr GB

Any other Steyr GB fans out there? They stopped making these fine pistols in 1988. These two are--by far--my favorite 9mm handguns.

    New Revolver

I just bought a Ruger SP 101 sa/da in 9mm. Fun to shoot. Good for winter carry or car carry. The only negative, it uses moon clips. First revolver for me with moon clips. I don't think i like them.
  5. Strange question from a new guy, but just looking for advice. I currently carry a Colt Mustang XSP for EDC and a Beretta 96A1 for open carry while on the farm, in the woods, etc...I often debate myself if the .380 has sufficient stopping power (I know this is arguable from both sides). I'm also not nearly as accurate as I'd like to be with the xsp I can shoot a fist size group with the xsp at 10yds and about the same group with the 96A1 at 30yds. Looking for a pistol as close to concealable as the xsp with close to the accuracy of the 96A1 in a larger caliber than .380 I realize the xsp is a 3" barrel and the 96a1 is almost 5". I also carried a Beretta 92 every day in the military for 10 years and the thousands of rounds help with the 96a1 accuracy, but it is NOT concealable. I've also debated a laser for the xsp, but I dont like to rely on too many moving parts. So...advice? Shut up and practice more? A new pistol?

    Sig P365

I recently purchased my second P365 from Arms Fair. It has a born date of June 2018. My first P365 was purchased from Buds, and was born in March 2018. i never told my wife about the first P365, so when she saw the second pistol, see says “that’s more my style, I want a laser on it”. See previously had a Ruger LCR .22 with Crimson Trace laser, and a M&P Shield with a green Crimson Trace laser. I guess I’m in the market for a third P365. Thirteen rounds of 9mm in such a small package is a beautiful thing.
  7. Hey guys, I've lurked off and on for a bit and have been contemplating on purchasing my first firearm, and after my ample research and polling, I've had a particular pistol catch my eye and I've found a reputable reseller through gunbroker that will ship to a local FFL, I just thought I'd open this up to a public forum. That handgun, is the Jericho 941 by IMI. Now from a practicality standpoint I know this is off the wall. Cowboy Bebop references aside, this handgun was used by Israeli special forces, uses CZ mags, and has the ability to swap barrels to rechamber in 41 AE. While yes, nobody shoots 41 AE, its unique and packs a punch. It's a bit heavier, but has a really nice grip and shoots pretty accurately. Now insight into me, I'm an engineer and tinkerer by nature, I've grown up around firearms my entire life, shot several, cleaned several, passed by Concealed Carry, but have never owned a firearm other than a shotgun. Now I open up the floor to you guys as a review, with all my research and effort into vetting this as a first gun, do you guys recommend?
  8. Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Compact 9mm I have owned a variety of M&P semi-autos since they started producing them back in 2005. I bought my first M&P, a full-size .40SW, from Guns & Leather 12 years ago when the pistol first came out and quickly followed it with an M&P 40c and then several other versions joined them over the years. The 40c and the 9c were never really a favorite of mine as they seemed to suffer from the same things that the Glock 26 and 27 sub-compacts did. Namely, they weren't small enough to really be a pocket gun but they weren't large enough to be very versatile either. Just like with Glock, if I was going to carry a double-stack 9mm, I was going to go for the Glock 19 instead of the 26 and with the M&P it meant the full-size 9mm. The M&P Shield was a huge step in the right direction for Smith & Wesson for those who wanted a slim 9mm for deep concealment. It also really put the spotlight on the fact that the 9c was, in my opinion at least, really not good enough at any one thing to make it a compelling option. If only S&W would just listen to their customers and build something exactly the same size as the Glock 19/23. We just wanted them to give us 15rds of 9mm in a package slightly shorter in the slide and grip than the full-size. Apparently someone at S&W has finally listened. The new M2.0 Compact scratches all of the itches in all the right ways. It is as if Smith and Wesson's lawyers finally relaxed and gave the engineers the green light to go ahead and build a better Glock 19 than Glock does. And boy did they get it right. And they kind of snuck it in on everyone. The M2.0 Compact version really doesn't seem to have received the fanfare or enjoyed the publicity blitz that its full size brother did. The release wasn't timed to coincide with any of the major industry shows. The internet wasn't ablaze with rumors of the new gun until it had essentially been announced by S&W. I only saw the "leaked" promotional slick for the new gun maybe 48 hours before the company published it officially. And yet the paradox seems to be that the lack of hoopla over the gun is significantly the inverse of just how good it is. The new M&P Compact no longer occupies a weirdly confusing spot in Smith & Wesson's lineup. It no longer tries to follow in the equally awkward footsteps of the Glock 26/27 platform. Instead, it has taken the Glock 19/23 platform squarely in its sights and blown the center out of that target with a better option. The new Compact gives a platform that is perfect for concealed carry, with superior ergonomics, a better feel and a sexier look than its Austrian competitor. And, just as the Glock 19/23 will fit into a holster made for the larger 17/22, the new M2.0 compact fits even better into holsters made for the larger M&P full-size. Carrying the M2.0 Compact in a TT Gunleather "Mike's Special" leather inside the waistband holster made for my M&P 9mm Full-size yields an extremely comfortable and potent concealment package. The shorter Compact fits the longer gun's holster as if it were made for it. The slide is only 1/4" shorter at the muzzle but otherwise identical in dimension to the larger gun. The trigger guard is exactly the same size. The grip is of course shorter in length at the cost of giving up two rounds of 9mm, but 15 rounds is hardly inadequate and the shorter grip deftly avoids printing against a t-shirt when concealed. So, how does it shoot? It was no problem at all to keep the first two magazines (30 rounds) that I ever fired from the gun inside the head kill zone of a man-sized target at 15 yards. The pace of fire was slower at first but I quickly ramped up the speed to my normal cadence for defensive shooting (2-3 rounds in rapid succession) with only marginal widening of the pattern. I found the trigger's break to be crisp and predictable. I haven't measured the pull yet with my Lyman gauge but i expect that it is somewhere between 4.5lbs and 5.5lbs based on the way it felt. I haven't bothered to check to see what S&W specs it at despite the ease of finding such information with Google. The trigger reset is no more exciting than any other M&P that I have ever owned. For those who like the extremely tactile reset of the Glock pistols, you won't find the M2.0's reset to be quite as audible or authoritative. It's a little on the limp and soggy side, but I've never found that to be a bother or to hamper my ability to shoot the M&P platform quickly and reliably. I tend to subscribe to Rob Latham's philosophy that if you "ride" the trigger you will find it hard to pick up an unfamiliar gun and cycle it reliably. As a result I've spent the past 20 years learning to keep my grip firm and sight-picture correct rather than relying on riding the trigger's reset to keep my groups small. Your mileage might vary and the soft reset may drive you nuts, but Apex Tactical Specialities has all of the trigger and ignition parts you need to make your M&P feel a little more Glock-like if that is what you are after. Another thing that I noticed with the M2.0 Compact is that, with mine at least, the slide lock seems to have been improved by S&W so that lefties can finally release it with their dominant hand's thumb and not pull a hernia in the process. I am not a lefty so I am at a disadvantage any time I try to do lefty-things, but the slide lock lever is no trouble for me to manipulate with my thumb left-handed. My hands are built like that of an ogre with shorter, stronger fingers, but I still think that almost any lefty will be able to release the slide with the lock lever and that it will only get easier as the gun breaks in. Final thoughts... None of us ever buy a handgun with the idea in mind that we are going to publicly tell the world how big of a mistake we made. I have read many glowing reviews of handguns only to follow up with the author's writings later to see that they had parted way with that new wunderpistol once the honeymoon was over. I guess it is just human nature to want everyone else to think that we always make good choices and aren't careless with our money. That being said, I have bought some real turds over the years. I have spent money on guns that were nowhere near as good as the magazine pundits or YouTube pimps said that they were. I've taken new guns to the range and immediately knew that I had made a serious mistake, and already had an idea of how I was going to sell them before I ever got through the second magazine of ammo. HOWEVER. This isn't one of them. Hands down, the M&P M2.0 Compact is a winner. It's riding my hip right now in that TT Gunleather IWB holster. It is replacing my Glock 19 for daily carry. It is going to cause a lot of other guns in my library to spend lonely days in the safe. It is really that good. I found it to be incredibly accurate and flat shooting. The size is perfect. The texture on the grip is perfect. The trigger feels just fine to me. The only thing I changed, and I did it immediately as I do with almost every handgun for which they are made, was to install a set of Ameriglo Pro i-Dot sights with orange outlined tritium front dot and simplistic black rear sight. In this case, the rear has the U-shaped notch that I prefer and a single dimmed tritium dot. Perhaps the most powerful statement that I can make about the new Compact is that I will be buying at least one more of them to have as a backup. And I am probably going to sell some other guns that I won't be shooting anymore.

    S&W .380 EZ

Anyone shot this yet or know much about it?
  10. Thoughts on this? http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2018/05/daniel-zimmerman/gun-review-remington-r1-ultralight-executive/
  11. Huh. Never heard of these before today. Traded something to a coworker and now have one chambered in .223. Who knows much about them? Value? I think, originally, they retailed around $375 but that was a number of years ago. Honestly, I'm kinda super excited to go shoot it. It just seems...unique.+
  12. You might say I am well taken by the Super Blackhawk: The brass framed gun is one that I made my best field shot, taking a ground hog with a head shot at 110 yards. Bob Wright
  13. I covered Keyholing on my Heritage Rough Rider 22 six shooter revolver under a topic I had started previously (started when buying the gun). a Heritage Rough Rider 22 It's as you know a rather cheap gun (paid $119 for it). I have been happy with it as fun to shoot, play cowboy, loading and unloading one at a time, cocking the hammer to fire single action. Just like Wyatt. HA! Anyway, I decided to expand the Keyholing events with a New Post regarding in hopes of getting more information about causes. There is some info on Internet search (GOOGLE) under the word Keyholing. You also get some U-Tube (of course). A friend of mine is somewhat of a gun expert (did some gunsmith work as more of a hobby) and also provided some inputs. Just wondering if any other inputs from YOU ALL? In my case, none or very little evidence of Keyholing but sometime ago I saw elongated holes in targets VS nice round little 22 caliber holes. A couple days ago at the range -- it really was BAD. Showed up, but accuracy not bad at 20 foot (4 inch target). Then went to 30 foot and had only three in 4 inch (rest within say 6 inch) and of course elongated holes (Keyholing). Hopefully, I can show pictures here. I could not on the previous post due to limit of 40.9KB. GROAN First Picture is at 30 foot and 4 inch target (keyholing very evident). Like I said, I had also shot at 20 foot target and msot all in the black, but obvious Keyholing there also. I have reduced the pictures to like 15KB files -- see what happens. DANG, now says can only use 10.2 KB (WHAT IS THE DEAL ON THESE LIMITS?). Reduced to 9.0KB (might be too small to see) - it allowed that. However, pretty small picture, think can still see how the holes are not little round 22 Caliber Holes and accuracy is way off (14 rounds at 30 foot 4 inch target).

    686-1 value

I am not starting a for sale ad, I want to know what this is worth so when I do list it in the classifieds it actually sells and doesnt sit there with people looking at it going he’s lost his mind. So I have a nice 686-1 with aftermarket grips and a couple of speedloaders. I think from my research it is pinned and recessed and no lock. Has the target sights and trigger. Made in the mid 80’s I was thinking $650 but have seen some listed for as high as 9 one even over a grand and as low as 475. So please let me know what you think. I an trying to get pics to load but giving me a hard time. https://imgur.com/gallery/1SZ27Mc
  15. Was over at SIA today and got to handle one. First impression; hefty like my SP, with a pretty sizable grip. The surface didn't feel particularly smooth and the sharp edges, especially on the trigger guard was not inspiring. After being disappointed in the finish, I simply set it back down without dry firing. I would have bought one of their used SPs for $499 vs. $799 (I think) for the Colt. Side note; they have 2 new MP40 9mm in stock $599. Seemed to be well assembled extremely large pistol. Don't need a $600 novelty gun, but it would complement my PPS 43c. Now I'm thinking about layaway...
  16. I'm interested in the performance of the Taurus Raging Hornet in 22 Hornet at 100 yards. Also, wondering how it's performance will match up to the TC Contender 10" barrel...as the Raging Hornet is also a 10" barrel. I'm full of questions and this one will open the flood gates! What are all of your "opinions" on the Raging Hornet as a hunting handgun? Would love to hear some hunting stories with the Raging Hornet. Think it will take a coyote at 100 yards with good shot placement? Hand-loading should add to the versatility of the gun, like any other. Appreciate all information on this interesting handgun.
  17. I don't get to post too much here, being an old sixgunner. I bought my first handguns when, living in Tennessee, I had to go to Arkansas or Mississippi to buy a handgun. Or, I could order it my mail. Times change. Here is one of my favorites, a .45 Colt Ruger with elk stag grips by Patrick Grashorn: It has, at times, been my constant companion, along with this one: Bob Wright
  18. Hopefully this is the right place to post a deal. Www.smga.com has these for sale. I’m a fan boy of longslide 9’s. Just wanted to share. Happy Father’s Day
  19. I'm an old sixgunner, Single Actions being my favorite. Especially the Ruger Super Blackhawk. Here are two of mine, a New Model and a Three Screw, both stocked in walnut, and worked over by Doug Turnbull: The Super Blackhawk is, in my opinion, the ultimate Single Action revolver. Bob Wright
  20. Heard guys bitching about it, but took my new 365 to the range today. Ran 200 rounds of crap 115 gr ball rounds through it. Couple of fte”s that’s it . Ran flawless w 124 gr. 109 rounds no issues. So. Whatever the u tubers wanna come up with .... whatever, mine ran fine, I trust it. There ya go. PS the black casing was a 124 gr round, 1st one fired out of the box
  21. I find myself in a temporary situation where I’ll only have a G17 to carry for a few months. Considering having the grip cut to 19 length to help with the size. I’m good with resale issues as this gun has a permanent place in my home. 2 questions. Any reason to not have this done by a reputable Glock surgeon? Is there someone in the Nashville area that would be a good pick for this job?
  22. https://bearingarms.com/tom-k/2018/06/14/ruger-mark-iv-recalled/amp/ "Ruger recently discovered that all Mark IV™ pistols (including 22/45™ models) manufactured prior to June 1, 2017 have the potential to discharge unintentionally if the safety is not utilized correctly. In particular, if the trigger is pulled while the safety lever is midway between the “safe” and “fire” positions (that is, the safety is not fully engaged or fully disengaged), then the pistol may not fire when the trigger is pulled. However, if the trigger is released and the safety lever is then moved from the mid position to the “fire” position, the pistol may fire at that time"
  23. Police: Man shot while retrieving gun from inside oven WARREN, Ohio (Meredith/AP) — Police say they've solved a shooting in Ohio that left a man wounded. The oven did it. The Vindicator in Youngstown reports 44-year-old Robin Garlock received wounds to both shoulders while trying to retrieve a handgun he'd hidden inside the broiler unit of his oven. Warren police say Garlock put the gun in the broiler because children were coming over. His girlfriend, unaware of the gun's presence, turned on the oven Sunday to bake. Police say she called out to Garlock when she thought she heard a gunshot fired outside. Police say Garlock was struck by bullets or bullet fragments when they exploded inside the gun. Warren is 60 miles (97 kilometers) southeast of Cleveland. No charges have been filed against the oven.
  24. I have a budy looking at buying one of these. Any pros and cons about the gun would be very appreciated. Thanks Bersaguy
  25. A while ago my dad had bought a handgun for himself while living here in Tennessee, when I got out of bootcamp and got my handgun permit, he gave it to me as a present ( I was 19 at the time also there is no bill of sale/ paper trail because he just gave it to me) he has since moved to Alabama but I have still have and carry that same handgun today. Is that OK? Am I allowed to carry that gun purchased by my dad who was a tn resident at that time but has now moved to Alabama?
