Now confiscating these would be a tough job; not for the weak of heart.

Hope and pray that those whom took oath to support and defend will rise up on this occasion and challenge this with the supreme court. This is going to far and beyond lunacy.

It's hard to imagine people who spent thousands, and tens of thousands voluntarily turning in their guns for a $25., Dollar General gift card, this could very well be that "scenero" where actual shooting happens if something this anti-American and un-constitutional were to pass. I can't see it passing but it is Illinois controlled by the Chicago syndicate. I hope those who took the oath to defend the Constitution would refuse to confiscate guns from American citizens, those who do follow illegal orders and violate Americans constitutional rights are undoubtly TRAITORS to the Constitution and United States. They would be no different than some American who might have collaborated with the Nazi's in WW2, or sold military secrets to the Soviet Union. Edited by K191145

The whole thing makes me mad but it makes me sick that all the gangs in Chicago that probably have more weapons (illegal) than the rest of the state combined(legal) and this is their concern? Bad deal right here.

These spoon fed control freaks don't care one bit about curbing crime and stopping psycho's from murder, it's all about their ideal of turning Americans into their subjects, turning America into their fantacy of an authoritarian, European type of socialist republic where they have the ultimate authority over every aspect of our lives. They could actually be diagnosed with some type of obsessive compulsive disorder, obsessed with power and control over people.

Well said K191145...

After 38 years, I didn't walk away from Illinois, I RAN. I had to practically give away my house after 2-1/2 years on the market but I'm happily an ex-resident.

Sad part is my children didn't follow because of their employment. My son has his home on the market and everyone knows how real estate is moving. He asked if I would store his guns in my safe should this draconian measure pass. Of course I replied, I would be happy to add to my existing gun collection. I need to ask if he wants a $25 gift certificate for Home Depot or Office Depot

If he ever sells his house he plans on moving to Missouri.

Pity the person that can't escape the Illinois penal system.

I'm all for it...I say let them do it and don't just limit it to "modern" firearms but ALL firearms.

I say we encourage Illinois to do this and we'll see how the results play out - I predict that the powers that be won't like them.

I'd say that I, for one, will never enter Illinois again but I made that decision a long time ago! ;)

This is what you would call a "dress rehearsal."

Nope. Just a Level 1 Commie state doing what they do.

This will never happen, even in Illinois. Rahm and the others can pump their fists and say what they want, but outside of Chicago, the state is very similar to TN from a gun owner perspective. Yes, Chicago pushes a lot of the agenda, but I just don't see this happening.

I grew up and lived there for 20 years. I know many people including cops who would never support this. This is just bullying, but the real people of IL (outside of Chicago) will not allow this. I think sometimes they do this crap just to see how big of rise they can get out of the pro-gun people.

Let's be clear. There is Illinois and there is Chicago/E. St Louis. They really aren't the same, unfortunately the two most crime ridden areas dictate a lot of what happens.

True, outside of Chicago you have real people with some common sense but I don't think and I would say history (recent as well as going back a long way) has shown that there isn't enough of the "good guys" to stop this kind of garbage from being passed and signed into law.

I don't know. I think the real people have put up with a lot, but I think this will cross a line. I wouldn't be surprised to see a very large push back on this if it even comes close to reality. A ban won't come easy, or hopefully at all.
