Hunger Games

Read the first book, saw the movie, meh.  Won't bother with the other movies or books.  Sorry, I didn't see anything special about it.  The theme is "cookie cutter".  Shake ingredients in a bowl and bake.  Written in a weekend feel to it.  Carry on though.

I want to see someone put some of John Ringo's or Orson Scott Card stuff on the big screen.  Ender's Game or some of the Posleen War series or Kildar stuff would rock!

I read the first book and saw the movie, and though I enjoyed the idea of the book and movie and found it to be very realistic in depicting the way we are headed as a society, I would find the series much more appealing if it concentrated on strategy and survival instead of being more of a love story.

I have read all the books, and have seen the movie and am anxiously awaiting the next two movies. I have no shame, I adore the series.

I too read all three at the suggestion of my wife. I felt like the last one got a little to sci-fi for my imagination, but an entertaining series to read. I get that it's geared towards teens, but it's not like we're talking about the gay vampire books. Some of the concepts in this book are very adult, such as the desperate fight to survive along with an oppressive government and ruling class that has lost touch with the citizenry and how that evolves from minor acts of defiance into full blown revolution.

I'm with you there. I have always thought Enders Game would make a great movie. I may have to read it again. It's been a couple of years.

Have'nt read the books, but watched the movie. My 20 yr old daughter loves the books and can't wait for the next to movies. I thought the first movie was a good watch and am looking forward to the next one to see where it goes.

Read the books. Thought they were decent to fair, especially since they are really directed at the teen plus readers. But enjoyable reads nontheless. The first movie I thought was just so-so. It's hard to convey all the backstory details in a short time frame. I'll probably watch the rest as well.

Now for some serious SF reading and moviemaking, RW is right on track. John Ringo is topnotch guy. Writes very well, though he tends sometimes to be a little longwinded in spots. Sorta like me.

To my knowledge, I have, and have read all his books and found them thoroughly great, with above exception. The Aldenta/Polseen series is truely amazing in the depth of the characters and story.

Ghost was fantastic. The Kildar Series as a whole is worth reading.

As a movie...Yes!

Read the first in the Hunger Games series and saw the movie. Couldn't get into suspended reality mode when it came to a small village surrendering their children. To me, the love story aspects detracted from it as well but my 16 yr old daughter loved it.

Hunger Games, while not the same, made me think of "The Lottery" as part of the perversion in a futuristic,

totally tyrannical post America. That love story was a distraction to me, but the younger female crowd must

have loved it, and lost the rest of the story, in the process.

Jennifer Lawrence is soooo hawt. I love her.

Oh...well, yes I do kinda have a little drooling crush on Jennifer as well. That might account for liking the movie.

And she was so hot in the body makeup in X-Men: First Class. :yum:

While I kinda liked the first movie I agree about Lender's Game. I must have read that book 4-5 times as a kid.

Hmmm my partner has been trying to get me to see the movie. I told him I was procrastinating because it just comes off as another teen girl craze like Twighlight. I have to admit, I like the concept though. Guess Ill have to go rent it now. I do like to read too.

*Ender's Game. Stupid auto correct.

Lenders Game is the title of a graphic novel about a mystery solving venture capitalist attempting to rid the world of evil black firearms I think.
