1.   They?   Do any of you realize that TGO is not a business?  It's not some company-run entity.  There's literally one person behind it.  Me.    Yes, we have volunteer moderators who help keep the forums moving smoothly, but every single piece of technology that runs under this site... every debt that it incurs... every bill that gets paid to keep the lights on for you... it's all me and I do it on top of my normal 50hr a week job and it takes away anywhere from 20-30 more hours of time from my family each week so that I can provide this site to the firearms community.   There is no THEY and the decision to accept PayPal was made out of necessity and desperation to streamline the process because there's only so many hours in the damn week.  Frankly this thread irritates me and comments like yours piss me off because it opens up a whole 'nother mess of things I have to explain.   The bottom line is you guys better hope PayPal doesn't stop letting us collect contributions to keep TGO running because when they do it's going to cause a whole lot of grief for not only this forum but dozens of others like it that depend on those contributions to keep our web servers lit.   But hey, let's sit around and bitch about someone getting their account shut down for violating PayPal's terms of service and cast disapproving glances towards TGO for being in bed with the enemy.  Because THAT makes my life better.  When you talk about PayPal potentially fucking a gun forum like TGO, you're talking about them fucking ME.   So if one of you guys owns a credit card processing company that will let me set up as a sole proprietor and not claim nearly 20% of everything the members contribute in fees and leave me with enough to pay for the bandwidth, server resources, software licenses and all of the other crap that we've become accustomed to having any time we get bored and want to aim our cell-phones and computers at this little corner of the Internet, I'll drop PayPal tomorrow and start running all of our Benefactor memberships through that instead of PayPal.  But until then I personally hope to God they leave us the hell alone.

 4.   I took a 1/16" drill bit and punched a hole in my plastic Eco-Nazi gas can on top opposite the nozzle.  Problem solved.  Now when I fill my mower the rushing sound of gasoline leaving the can sounds like the applause of a million bald eagles instead of the slow glug of Shave the Whales hippies.

 5. Every time I fill the mower. Every time. This is like the "environmental" low-flow toilets that you have to flush 5 times, which wastes twice as much water. I swear, environmentalists are some of the dumbest people on the planet.

 6.   I work for a construction firm that trust and allows its employees to keep their legally owned weapons in their vehicles.  I am a Senior Project Manager, and as such I must travel to many different locations.  Having an early portion of that ill fated boondoggle that WAS Hemlock Semiconductor, I was forced to be unarmed for my traverse to and from Clarksville, as I was required to ferry materials and hardware for controls that were, by contract, not allowed to be offloaded to a common carrier, and not allowed to be unguarded from the time they entered my possession until I handed them over to the installer and received signatures for chain of possession documentation. Their protocol was that no private vehicles could enter the work site, being relegated to a communal parking lot outside the fenced enclosure.  My firm allows me to keep my weapon in my vehicle, that private company denied me that ability.   I am sure you will now insist that I could quit my job, tossing out 20 years of employment history and the retirement built up with my company, giving my severely ill wife the good news that I By God stood on principal and pulled up my big boy pants and showed Hemlock they could not push me around, the fact that her life expectancy had been cut to about six weeks being of no consequence.

 10. I am quite ignorant of law enforcement protocol. That being said, It is hard for me to wrap my head around any entity having the right to take your personal belongings from your home without making an arrest.   Also, you have to love the unbiased reporting. They seemed utterly amazed and shocked to find there were about two dozen rifles in the house. A lot of us would call the owner a rookie.

 11. You are correct, it was terrible timing. My point, and I did not make it clear at all, is about him saying it to the press. If the liberals get even a sniff of the possibility of a crack in the armor, or a hint of no united front in the NRA, they will go for the jugular and this fight will be lost.

 12.   50 hrs a week worked.  20-30 hrs a week worked on top of that for TGO.  I simply do not have time to do mailed in payments.  It's 2013, so we're leveraging the power of e-commerce to make my life easier.   In a word, no.  Sorry.  Did it before and it was a huge pain in the ass.  Especially those weeks that we too a vacation or someone was sick or I worked 60hrs for my regular job and didn't make it to the post office only to have someone bitch me out here for not processing their bad check in a timely manner.   And, yeah... bad checks.  Those were always fun.   Hate to vent, but you asked.  :)

 17.   Honestly, it was pretty easy. I used the checklist on the order form (http://www.thecmp.org/Sales/pdfs/1orderform.pdf) and the Eligibility Requirements page to put everything together.  I ended up forgetting to put a copy of my HCP in there to fulfill the shooting requirement, but they contacted me via email and snailmail to let me know.  Emailed that to them and they processed the order about 3 business days later.   I did call once to get one of the CS ladies to walk me through the process.  She was very helpful, and I realized they weren't like the DMV (or DOS here in TN) where they're practically looking for an excuse to can your paperwork.

 20. Do you have alcohol in the house? What are your political affiliations? Any porn? What gas mileage do your vehicles get? What religion do you teach to your child? Any of those questions could be rationalized into a relevant question from the school under the same pretense they're peddling. Considering that 1/3 of these parents are gun owners, I'm figuring there are at least one or two that will make a very big deal out of this if it passes, which it probably won't.

 22.   It could definitely be that.  I think gun owners in general are so worried about the government overstepping its bounds and stepping on their freedoms that a lot of folks don't even consider for a moment that something truly illegal might have been happening in that house.  Lately folks are kind of jumping to some pretty bad conclusions.

 25.
A girl I dated one time took me to a show indicating to me that we were going to see "that group that sings that song, Missionary Man. I think." I thought to myself, I like Annie Lennox. I like the Eurythmics okay. It'll be fun. You can imagine my surprise when I showed up and it was in fact a B-52's concert. I wasn't a huge fan, but again growing up around the Athens scene, I thought, "this will be okay." I've seen The Who.  I've seen Black Sabbath and Ozzy on separate occasions, Black Crowes, ZZ Top and dozens of assorted 80's hair bands. Those were all loud. B-52's had them beat by a magnitude of scale. Kate Pierson cranked up way past the pain threshold was absolutely the single most excruciating thing I've ever heard.    To this day, when I hear the opening bars of Love Shack it makes my head hurt.
I dunno, I may have you beat. My girlfriend (now wife of 11 years) asked me to go with her to a concert. "Its a suprise" she says. Yeah, it was fricking lillith fair. I wont describe my thoughts About the evening so i dont offend anyone, but lets just say I didnt call her for a few days afterward.

 28.   Fortunately that is not possible. I am NOT OK with ANY law that tells me I have to buy something, even if I already own it, regardless of the tax or other financial implications. It is not within the government's authority to tell me what I must buy, yet they already do so and so I must comply under the threat of violence.

 31.   That's a fact.  For those who don't understand that, look at it this way.  States existed first, before Federal govt.  They enacted and enforced their own rules before any Federal govt. was around.  They only willingly formed and joined a Federal govt. for things like common defense and such.  States DID NOT surrender their sovereignty when they created the Federal govt., they retained sovereignty, but granted very limited powers to the Federal govt.

 32. If the object is to make yourself more prepared to deal with likely situations you might face then you really need to train with the same kind of equipment and clothing you will likely be wearing when you have to use it for real.    If the object is to have a fun "dude ranch " type experience then bring and wear whatever you like...it is your fantasy dress however you like.    People ask me what to bring to pistol class. If it is a pistol class I tell them to bring what they really carry and wear what they really wear as THAT is what they will be using when they get jumped in a parking lot.    People ask me what to bring to rifle classes. I ask them to do a SERIOUS assessment of their likely use of the rifle and then dress accordingly.   Are they Mil guys? Bring your gear and wear it for the whole class.   Police? Wear your vest and duty rig if you like.   Civilian? Bring whatever you REALLY will use to carry mags. If that is one mag in the gun and a spare in your back pocket of your pants then good for you for training the way you are really going to be using it.    Train as you will fight. Otherwise it is just tactical entertainment.

 33. I run my holster business using Pay Pal.  When I set up my account, they did look at my website and contacted me to confirm that I was not selling firearms or prohibited items, the list of which has been the same for years.  I've never had any problems selling my gun-related items and Pay Pal has been helpful in resolving any problems when they pop up.

 35. Obamunists control mass media and it is their main strength. They bribed (using our tax money) celebrities to promote their anti-gun agenda. Obama already replaced 2 justices in supreme court with anti-gunners. We need to wake up more people. We have only social media. Let's use it. I had sent a letter to every e-mail address in my contact list. It was over 200 e-mails. I hope you all have contact lists and majority of your contacts are the people capable to think and understand. Most of you also have Facebook, Youtube and LinkegIn accounts. Use them. Just do it. It takes at most 20 minutes Here is the text. I urge you to improve it and be creative   Hello Everybody Yesterday, January 24 Senator Dianne Feinstein introduced a bill designed to ruin America. Essentially this bill eliminates 2nd amendment to our constitution. 2-nd amendment protects you even if you do not own any gun. Now every punk from inner city knows that every responsible citizen can have effective weapon to protect the law and order. The bill, if implemented will effectively disarm us and let without tools to contain violence. The punks from inner city will be in your nice neighbourhood at once. Criminals will outnumber and outgun you. Police will protect ruling elite and celebrities. Nobody will protect you. Dianne Feinstein and other communists already have solution for the crime outbreak. It will not be long when president will declare the state of emergency and FEMA operatives will be at your door. To pick your children and send them to relocation (concentration) camps. And these operatives will have real assault rifles and will kill you if any resistance. It already happened in New Orlean. They already built FEMA concentration camps all over the US. Stalin, Hitler and Mao Tsze Dong successfully played this game in Russia, Germany and China. America can be the next. New York and Chicago already fall to the hands of the communists It is not too late. Write your elected official. Remind them that you will never vote for unti-gunners. Request them to repel Feinstein's bill. Attend every 2A rally you can. Let communists know our numbers Join NRA now. I do not like NRA. But it is the only group that really cares for human rights. Sell extra guns (you might have) to the patriots. After all it is very profitable now. The more good rifles in the hands of good man the more chances for America to survive. Boycott every event where organizers banned modern rifles from exhibition. Boycott every business posted “no guns” sign   For your international flights use Atlanta airport instead of New York and Washington Broadcast my letter to your friend and relatives Here are the useful links to contact your elected representatives: http://www.house.gov/representatives/find http://www.ruger.com/micros/advocacy/takeAction.html Either we stay as one or fall as many

 36. What the hell are people like that so afraid of? Do they think a person bent on shooting up the place would freely admit to carrying a weapon? I don't get the irrational behavior in response to a person carrying a weapon in a responsible manner. Does this guy freak out when he sees an armed cop?

 39. yes its all the same thing.   if 1.56 = 20 and x = 23   then x = (1.56 * 23)/20 =  1.79   1.79 / 2 =  .89 so yes 2 hits of .90 disk will be roughly 23 grains.    and from there you can use what you now know. we know 1.6 is roughly 20 and 1.8 is roughly 23 so 1.7 (or 2 hits of .85) is 21.5 grains. and so on.  That is what I meant when I said it is linear.   But its easy to make a mistake doing these ---- always, always weigh the charge.  Hopefully this stuff saves time so you can measure once, hit the calculator, and pick the correct disk hole, only needing to set up your system twice at the most.

 41. Reasonable gun control would be a law requiring every able-bodied adult male to own a serviceable rifle in a military caliber as well as a basic load of ammunition and equipment for it.  Hmmm, that sounds familiar.  Oh, wait!  We already did that once with the Second Militia Act of 1792!  Maybe it's time to dust that one off.   More Reasonable Gun Control would be a law requiring a citizen to shoot the Army Rifle AQT course with a passing score in order to vote. Even my 80 year-old Mom can qualify on the AQT, so this should be a no-brainer.  Maybe make some kind of allowance for those who are blind, though.   Here's some more Reasonable Gun Control that I REALLY like!  Allow tax credits for those who have more than the minimum rifle and equipment in the first paragraph!  How about a $1000 credit for owning a long-range rifle and completing a 800 yard qualification course?!  And a $2000 credit for owning a belt-fed machine gun and completing a qualification course!

 42. The constitution restrains the government, not individuals, groups, associations or businesses.   You'll note you have a right to the freedom of speech, which restraints the government from using your protected speech against you, or punishing you for exercising your right to free speech.  But, that does not extend to private sector....   More importantly, there is a fundamental right, freedom of association which allows individuals to form groups or associations (ie business).  This right is violated when the government attempts to force somebody to belong to a group (or business) against the wishes of that group. IE the government can't force the NAACP to allow members of the KKK into their organization.   Also, we have the fundamental right to property, which is enshrined in the declaration of Independence (also in the constitution under the taking clause) , which is also a God given right as well...  Again this natural right is violated when the government forces you to do something with your property against your wishes.   So yeah IMHO me asking the legislature to pass a law banning company dress codes is on the same level as you asking them to ban anti-gun policies.  They're both silly and unconstitutional. That is not to say the government won't pass this law and some court may very well uphold it as constitutional, only that we should not be asking the legislature to pass it in the first place, it's a bad law that violates the rights of others to treat us as a special interest group.   There are LOTS of bad gun laws in this state that we should focus on, and the repeal or modification of which would not violate God given rights...  including removing governments from 39-17-1359 or removing 39-17-1359 altogether.  Removing exceptions to park carry, or removing laws covering the wearing of firearms in schools and universities.  Providing for true constitutional carry (whether limited to open or allowing CC).  All of these are laws when repealed would not take away rights from individuals, associations, and businesses... but would further constraint government, which is a good thing.    Finally, we're all members of a loose group which supports freedom and God given rights, it's a fundamental violation of our core principals to fight for taking others rights away!  The same legislature (or the federal one) may one day pass laws to violate our rights to own/carry firearms...  and courts may very well uphold those bad/immoral/unconstitutional laws on us.   We must have core principals as supporters of the second amendment, and the key to those principals is to not infringe on others natural rights in the process of restoring our rights to keep and bear arms.  Supporting this law is incompatible with that core principal!
