Good. They're already too crowded. I could probably get some better deals if only 2,000 showed up instead of 20,000. ;) - OS3 points

I went to the range today with a bunch of fellow members. We were all TGO members with the exception of one guy who set up at one end while I was at the other. Because space was limited on my end my wife set up next the the guy to shoot. A few minutes later I heard my wife call out to me so I stood up and started heading her way to see what was going on. At this point I seen the guy walking towards me messing with a pistol he had in his hand. At this point my wife pointed at him. I guess he thought I was there to help because as I was walking towards my wife he stopped right in front of me and begain to vigorously mess with his pistol. It looked to be out of battery and it looked like he was trying to get the slide to go into battery. He was pushing on the rear of the slide with his palm and had the finger of his other hand in the trigger guard actually hitting the trigger. The milisecond I realized what was going on I grabbed the gun and raised the muzzle to point skyward. If he had been able to get the slide to close then the gun would have went off. There were several people in his line of fire but the guy was standing less than 2' directly behind OhShoot. Had the gun went off it would have hit him in the back. After grabbing his hands that were holding the gun I yelled at him to quit pointing a gun at other people. He then said he had a malfunction with his handloads. I was so upset I just walked back to where I was sitting and he followed me. He said he had a malfunction and asked if I was going to help. I told him no and I did so for several reasons. First I had no tools and I honestly don't want to mess with it, second he had just flagged no less than a 1/2 dozen people and finally he acted like it was no big deal. This is what upset me the most and made sure I would not help him in any way. And when I told him I wasn't going to help he got an attitude and said "what am I supposed to do now" and I said I don't know. He then acted like a two year old throwing a temper tantrum and said "I guess I will just pack up my stuff and go". With how he acted I expected him to start stomping his feet then throw himself to the ground as if to garner even the slightest bit of sympathy for him. At this point I just ignored him because it was starting to set in what he had just done and I was afraid I would say something to incite him or I might work myself up to a point of doing something stupid. He had just done several things that were idiotic, retarded, stupid and just plan dangerous without an apology. And all of his actions could have easily killed someone. I rarely say someone doesn't need to own gun but this guy is the poster child. He should sell every gun he owns and take up knitting because no matter how screwed up he does that it will not possibly kill someone. My wife later told me that all this started when she noticed the guy was making a lot of fertive movements that caused her to look over at him. When she looked at him he told her he had a malfunction and flagged her as he was trying to clear it. She got loud with him and told him to keep it pointed down range. Most of the TGO members who were there had no clue because they were focusing on shooting and doing things safe but not this idiot. After he walked away I crouched in the corner about to throw up because of what had just happened. The adrenaline came on strong and I became nauseated. After a few minutes I was fine but it was always in the back of my mind after that. At this point OhShoot walked over and I told him he almost got shot in the back because had the gun went into battery he would have, without a doubt, shot OhShoot in the back. This idiot made what should have been an enjoyable day for me a day of worry until I left a little while later. This came close enough to being a disaster that I can assure you I will NEVER shoot with anyone I do not know. I will leave any range anytime anyone I don't know comes in. Life is too short to have some idiot make it even shorter. Even as I write this I am getting pissed because he could have taken my wife from me as well as some of my friends. We are getting into the shooting season guys. Please, I beg you, do whatever you can to be safe.2 points

I think I have said this before and I will say it again. These people move in, and just think they can have their way. It happens every where just not in TX. I am proud of the farmer for standing up to this scourge, that is slowly but surely undermining the way of life in the USA. Yes, we have freedom of religion don’t get me wrong. If these folks want to howl at the moon, bang a gong and talk to their dead ancestors (or what ever they do) I have no problem with it.. But if they want me to change something, just because they don’t like it??? SCREW THEM!!!!!!!2 points

My Father lives in Tulsa, and he does some buying and selling of mostly Harley Davidson motorcycles and motorcycle parts on the side. He got a call from some guy who recently inherited a bunch of his Grandfather's stuff, so he went to check out the old motorcycle. As they were loading the motorcycle, my Dad asked him if he happened to have anything else for sale. The guy told him he also inherited "some old revolver" that his Grandfather kept locked up next to the bed for the last several years. Not knowing much about guns, my Dad called me while the guy went to get it. It was a Smith & Wesson 14-4 with a 6" barrel. He also had 100+ rounds of .38 Special. I told him to ask the guy what he wanted for it. The guy said "$150 for the gun and ammo". I instantly told my Dad to give him the money and calmly run as fast as he can. After buying the bike, he only had $147 in his pocket, so he walked away with what he described as a "real nice" Smith & Wesson 14-4 and 100+ rounds of ammo for $147. I'm waiting on pictures and serial number. Please ignore his poor gun handling skillz in the second picture.1 point

Until not too long ago, I made regular deliveries to the Turney Center Industrial Prison. While there were a few who so badly wanted to be a real LEO but likely couldn't cut it, most of them were real nice men and women who truly hated that sh***y job. Even though I disagree with how the OP was treated, after hearing those guards talk about miserable their jobs were, I would have felt real bad by giving them a hard time over some pictures.1 point

I have gotten it down to two: 9mm and .32ACP (for my Seecamp). I also keep some .45ACP around for my 1911 and some .38/.357 for my wheel guns, but I don't typically use them as a defensive carry piece. I used to keep .40 S&W as well, but I decided to consolidate my carry guns to 9mm thinking that in an ammo shortage it would be easier to find than .40; so much for that stroke of genius. I think that 9mm is more than sufficient for defensive carry as long as I do my part.1 point

As long as I have at least 50rds for every pistol I have already tested I feel comfortable, the exception is 40 which is my SHTF caliber and I keep a Minimuim of 1500. Currently 7 different calibers of handguns in the safe.1 point

No one has yet mentioned that they knew the diameter of their barrels, 9mm or .38. Until you slug the barrel and accurately measure the slug, futher discussion is a waste of bandwidth. How many of you have ever applied a micrometer to bullets that you bought? It sounds like we have some folks who do not know the diameter of either their bullets or bores and opining about them.1 point

I just don't get how most vendors at shows like to pretend that the internet doesn't exist and that consumer's aren't capable of informing themselves of current pricing and availability on things. especially surplus ammo and firearms.1 point

This coming from a guy who posted in another thread that you should just give the police your ID even though it is not required by law. As a retail store manager I can tell you why you are asked for this info: ID: Simply to make sure you are old enough to purchase the item. Take note that very rarely is any info transferred into the computer. So stop being a jerk to the poor girl that is just doing her job. That bluing kit has a chemical that some kid has killed themselves and the poor excuse for a parent sued some company somewhere and won. So now to limit liability you DOB is asked for. Don't like it, thank a sleazy lawyer. Zip code: This one baffles me when people refuse. It is used so the store knows where it's customer base is and can spend ad dollars wisely as well as determine if they need to open a store in a given area. Somehow people think they can be tracked by this info?!?! Phone number: For the same reasons as getting a zip code. Although I do understand refusing this one. I really don't understand why people want to give a poor $8/hr cashier a hard time over this stuff. If you want to effect change write a letter to the corp office policing disagreeing with the policy. It is much more effective. Please leave the store personnel out of it as they can't effect change and usually have by little input in the policy anyway. Also if you do write to the corp office and mention the problem is with the store personnel; guess what, it will get pushed back down to the store and your letter will do no good to effect change in the policy. I have two built on their blems. Wasn't sure where the blems even were, certainly not as bad as the ding I put on the first one I ever put a LPK in. :) I stand by my prediction that AR parts and complete rifles will get cheaper than in a decade if affordable ammo for them doesn't free up by the fall. - OS1 point

Guys, keep an eye on yugster.com. I got a Cree 1200 lumen light with 2-3volt batteries (it only holds 1 battery 1 for spare) and charger for $17.00. It 6 inches long and it will blind you. I ordered 2 and wish I ordered 4. I thought my 200 lumen lights where bright but this 1200 will light the night.1 point

It makes a difference with fast pistol powders. Then add a Glock with an unsupported chamber and you are asking for some problems. I push the odds pretty regularly with my wildcating and just testing. I would not try it with jacketed bullets. Another issue is those .002" might not let the case mouth open enough to release the bullet. The pressure will go the path of least resistence, out the primer hole or at the case head. And even if it does release the bullet it will increase the pressures substantially then the bullet encounters more pressures from the oversized bullet. What is a safe powder charge? How low is safe enough? No way to know because there is absolutely no load data for shooting .357" bullets in a .355" bore. Seriously, 9mm bullets are CHEAP. Sell the 357 bullets and buy the correct bullets. You are flirting with disaster.1 point

I have nothing against alcohol consumption. In fact, I love a good drink as much as the next guy. However, I don't drink in public, because I carry everywhere I go. So, my only interest in this subject is about my right to be safe from drunk drivers, I will feel NO safer if the legal limit drops from .08 to .05. The people below .08 aren't the ones I'm the most concerned about. It seems like in most of the DUI fatality stories I hear about the drunk driver is way over the legal limit. I'd like to see some stats, though, since I could be wrong on this. If a statistically significant percentage of accidents are caused by the .05 to .079 crowd or they make up a significant percentage of those who blow clean after failing a field sobriety test, I'm for changing the law.1 point

Just some thoughts.... Look at getting an atlas bipod For the comp also look at the JP Tactical Compensator. It makes my 308 feel like a .22. I believe you would need JPTRE-324. http://www.jprifles.com/1.4.3_tre.php Get a new trigger. I love my Jewell. For the glass it depends on how much you want to spend... Low end BSA Tactical, middle vortex, high Nighthawk. rings i recommend seekins precision but you need to know what tube your scope is (most people get scopes with 30mm tubes) Don't get the 20MOA rail unless you don't have any rail now or you plan on some long range shooting otherwise it's an unnecessary cost. You can check out my build that Middle TN Gunsmithing built and painted for me at http://s1261.photobucket.com/user/alwaysonjohn/slideshow/Rebel Its a Defiance Machine Rebel Action (based of the 700), Defiance Machine 20 MOA Rail, Lilja 1:10 Twist barrel cut down to around 24" and fluted, JP Tactical Compensator, Manners T5A with Mini Chasis, Atlas Bi-Pod, Seekins Precision Rings, Vortex Scope (loaner for the pictures), jewell trigger, multi-cam cerakote with two-tone cerakote 1 point
