  1. I did none of those things, so I don't have a damned thing to feel guilty about.

  2. It wasn't that long ago that it was unheard of for blacks to vote... or women.  We need less government, not more of it.  Let the churches decide who they will or won't marry.

  3. Well......  :waiting:   I reckon starting a thread on the Current and Factual status of Garands within the CMP from one of its Master Instructors who recently had a visit to its Anniston warehouse and talked directly with its officials is not good enough to dispel those who would rather offer their own self-predictions, false information, and develop rumors.   I tried.

  4. No worries, Got another one lined up and in 2 weeks I start working for a elctronics company( sales). Got tired of the drive to Manchester and after my interview monday, the Regional manager of the Electronics company I will be working for basically said he would hire me right then and there. But I gave wal-mart2 weeks notice yesterday. Going to work my full 2 weeks and start the new job on the 6th of November.   Pay and hours i couldn't pass up.

  5. Almost, but not quite. The tarring and feathering is a little much. Here's the thing, just because something may not be a good idea for whatever reason, does not mean that the government should be making laws against it. I don't think it is a good idea to use IV drugs like heroin. I also don't think the government has any business making it illegal and stealing from the populace to wage a horrendous drug war against them to stop a consensual activity. No victim, no crime.   Edited to add: Just because I don't think there should be a law against what somebody is doing, doesn't mean I can't tell them that they are a dumbass for doing it.

  6. Let's not let evidence get in the way of our speculation...   We're talking 70 year old rifles, here.  Regardless of how much Obama, Hillary and all the other boogeymen out there might hate the CMP, we're operating with a fixed supply of rifles that's going to run out sooner or later.  They've seen their business change.  A lot of folks today would much rather order online or via email instead of making the drive - so a private company made a business decision that makes sense for their business.  I don't see a conspiracy here.   People probably should hurry up and get one of these great old rifles; CMP supplies are going to be exhausted one day.    But please, do it because of the respect you've got for the old warhorses - not because Obama's going to come take them.

  7. You know there's a simple way to shut BOTH sides up on the matter. Remove all tax credits for marriage. Say to the masses 'We don't care who you marry, it won't save you any money.' Both sides will be pissed but they will stop the bulk of their bickering amongst themselves. Everything boils down to money. America has proven the principle takes a back seat to cash every time. If NO one got a tax beak for being married, fewer would do so all around. The pot would boil for a little while longer then it would fizzle out and people would move on.

  9. I agree with everything you just said......except the "WE" part. White folk as a race have VERY dirty hands, but I ain't killed anyone, I ain't t subjugated anyone to my tyrannical rule. I'm sick and damn tired of being made to feel guilty for people with who happen to have similar chemical composition of skin pigment.

  13. I say let the gays have the same benefits as any other hetero couple in the eyes of the law. To me the government should see it as nothing more than a contract between two people and it should not matter if the parties are the same sex or opposite sex. I also believe that those who choose to live together without being "married" should be able to have the same benefits as anyone else who lives as a married couple. And if on person wants to live with multiple partners that should be their choice. The government should not have anything to say about who someone can and cannot be partnered with and neither should anyone else.   Religious institutions, as well as their members, should not have a say in how anyone who is not a member chooses to live. People keep saying that the Bible says it is wrong but what if you don't believe in what the Bible says or if you are of another religion. That makes that reason invalid to anyone but the person holding the Bible. You think a Hindu couple gives a rats ass what the Bible says? People are going to live in the way they want to and as long as it doesn't affect anyone else it should not matter to anyone, any government or any religion how they live. It only creates animosity when one group tries to tell another how they should live and having less animosity between us all is a good thing.   People are on a crusade to save other people from themselves. I suggest they spend that time trying to save themselves and leave the rest of the world alone. If we, as a country, could just let people live how they want the world would be a better place.   Just remember this, there are more Muslims in the world than any other religion. If we can force people to live under Christian based laws religion then at some point the majority, Muslims, will be able to force their religious laws upon us as well. Personally I would rather let everyone choose their own way to live than risk being force to live in a way I do not want to.

  14. I don't care where the concept came from, it's irrelevant when it comes to making laws. I don't care if a person marries his lawnmower. It's none of my damn business. It's none of your damn business. It sure as hell is none of the government's business. We DO NOT live in a theocracy.

  15. I agree with 6.8, Cavuto and Shepard Smith are the best on Fox News. I guess Cavuto is tired of Obama blaming Fox News for all the problems Obama himself created. I don't remember any President before that singled out a specific news source like Obama has.

  17. A lot of talk recently on this forum that the CMP is running out of Garands. Here is a very recent picture of 1600 M1 Garands at the CMP warehouse in Anniston, AL. 40 crates x 40 rifles per crate. While I didn't take this picture (a friend did), it is representative of what I saw earlier this month during a visit to the CMP. This pic only shows a small area of the warehouse and a small number of the crates. While I wouldn't call the warehouse "Raiders of the Lost Ark" in size and number of crates - - - it is a very big storage facility. The number of rifles that the CMP can inspect/repair/ship per day isn't much different than it was a year ago. However mail orders have increased dramatically with the panic buying from earlier this year. Frankly, it caught the CMP by surprise - - - the 2009 Barry Hussein election induced panic buying didn't affect Garands sales. Someday the CMP will sell its last Garand and that day grows closer with every year....., but the current supply on hand appears (at least to me) to be what has been the norm for the past decade. So "Keep Calm & Garand On!"

  18. I don't know about race wars in the future but I do know about the present. I know the black guys I work with come to work everyday, work hard while they are there and treat me with respect. I know the black folks that live in my neighborhood keep their yards nice, discipline their kids and stop and talk when I'm in the yard. I know the black folks I go to church with have dreams, hopes, fears and disappointments just like I do. I know that I'm not to concerned with the future because I'm trying to treat my fellow man the way I want to be treated. All I know is the black folk I see everyday are just trying to make a decent life for themselves and their families. I know that black gangs that attack white people are just thugs and criminals. I know that white gangs that attack black people are just thugs and criminals. I know we need more good white and black police to catch and lock up these thugs. I know we need more good black and white judges that will send these criminals to prison for their crimes. I know we need more white and black prison guards to work these criminals on chain gangs from sun up to sun down. I know we need more black and white voters who will make the hard choices to make this happen. I know that these theories of gloom and doom always seem to come from the wealthy and intellectual elites that live off the public tit. I know these theories come from people who have never had to work from the sweat of their brows to just get by let alone get ahead in this life. I know that if those of us both black and white that have to live together in the " real world" don't unite and voice our unity these talking heads will keep spreading their poison. I know I will take one of my black friends to lunch this week just to show Sewell he doesn't know what he's talking about. I know that blacks and whites can live together in peace and harmony but not by the teaching of the intellectual elites. I know our lives of peace and harmony can only come through the teachings of Jesus.

  19.   A club that has a CMP affiliation is often seen as a roadblock to many, but it can be as easy as joining the Garand Collectors Association which is a CMP club.    http://www.thegca.org/   Here is the direct link that tells you what is needed to order from the CMP.   http://www.odcmp.com...eligibility.htm   It might seem like a complex way to get a rifle, but heck its a M1 Garand FEDEX direct to you.    PM me if you need any help in getting your M1.   Mark

  20. All I got from that article was - Thomas Sowell is writing for World News Daily?  Has the man lost so much credibility that it's come to this?  Does he need a paycheck that bad?   I've got a bunch of stuff that I'd love to say on this topic, but I am going to refrain for now so that I don't find myself having to moderate myself.    I'm really of the mind to shut this thread down before it gets started.  But, I'm going to leave it open for now.   Let this serve as your warning.  Bring something intelligent to the conversation or don't participate.

  24. How about we get the government out of everyone's marriage - gay and straight.  Seriously.  Make them all civil unions, and if there are benefits to be had, then extend them to everyone.   If you then want the church to recognize your relationship, and want a ceremony in a church - then find one that echoes your beliefs and get them to perform one for you.   Even as a Christian, I just don't get it. I don't particularly agree with the homosexual lifestyle, but it's not like the sin they bring to the table is somehow greater than the sin that I bring to the table.  And, from a "who is my neighbor" perspective, I just don't understand how you keep someone out of a hospital room or whatever in a time of need.    Power is terribly corrupting, but I'm wary of the end result when we as the church try to use the government(Babylon, if you will) as a weapon to do our bidding.

  25. Well I actually voted no to this because the thought of having a bunch of people walking around on the sidewalks and in malls and grocery stores with AR's and AK's would really be unnerving in so many ways I can't list them. I don't have issues with anyone wanting to own and shoot a dozen of them if the want to in the correct surrounding and even to hunt with. I just have this picture in my mind of seeing them in Malls and Busy parking lots and sidewalks filled with children and adults and it is not a good picture. Back when I was in high school I had a deer rifle and a shotgun in the rifle rack in back window of my truck in parking lot at high school with plans on going hunting after school. Different time in a different country than we live in today. ..........jmho

  28. I am considering purchasing the gun mentioned above to go along with the 300 BLK pistol I am building with our TGO Lower and Upper. I am about a month away from getting my suppressor in hand and thought this looked like a good bolt action platform to shoot suppressed. It looks like this: Does anyone have any first hand experience with this particular rifle or experience with another bolt action in 300 BLK you have been happy with. I figure it's always fun to have at least two guns in the same caliber. Thanks!

  29. They don't want this. They might THINK they want this, but they DON'T. I've said this before, I'll say it again. If a race war is ever a reality, I would hate to be anything other than white. History stands witness, white men are very proficient at wholesale slaughter. Also, how many non white ammo hoarding preppers have you ever seen? Survivalists? Hunters and those into hardcore bushcraft? This isn't a racial thing (from me) its just statistical fact, the VAST majority of privately owned weapons are owned by whites and a great number of those know how to use them.

Seriously.   Originally was an out for an "army or navy pistol", 'cause most all "them" folks couldn't afford them. This law is still on the books in any number of cities around TN. as it was copied from the state law enacted in 1870. It was the ordinance that Kwik took on in Belle Meade; Knoxville has it on the books also.   - OS

  34. I think a better question would be, why was it ever made illegal?       The only thing that makes a weapon offensive or defensive is who starts it. If I come in to a place and start shooting for no reason with my XD, my pistol is an offensive weapon. If I get taken out by someone with an AR-15, it just became a defensive weapon.      This argument sounds vaguely familiar. Where have I heard it before? Oh yea, from Brady, Obama, Pelosi, Boxer, and every other anti-gun person/organization out there. ;)     And here I was thinking I was the only one who got it.

  37. The reason these moral laws are passed is one small group dosen't like something and thinks it is their place to tell the rest of us what to do. If everyone would mind their own business and focus on other more important things in this world, we might not be in as bad shape as we are in. Leave the government out, reduce the size and influence of government and we might just get better. But then there are going to be some people who think it is the government's job to take care of us. Which i wholeheartedly disagree with.   Just like you and I have a right to own firearms, it isn't anyone else's business what we buy, how we buy and how much we buy or have. Just like those who are Homosexuals. Which i'mprobably gonna get a lot of flack from the right-winged bible-toting religous people out there. I'm gonna save you the trouble, I'm a christian, and while I'd love to get into my beliefs in general, this isn't the place. I never mix politics and religion.   It's all about the money, religion is a minute point to the homo/hetero marriage ordeal.

  40. No, it is not my business or has it anything to do with basic freedoms in my country. In case you weren't aware, gays are going to have gay sex whether they are recognized by the state or not. But I assume you want to outlaw that too, right? I'm just curious, please explain to me how the things that gays do to one another is your business. If it is your business, then it is the business of everyone else what you do with your wife.

  43. If we're gonna get the knife out, we should go ahead and trim this fat laden porterhouse down all the way. Not just the tax credits for marriage and EIC, but all social programs. ALL of them. Now that's a beat I could march to. You'd put EVERYONE in their place in one swing. You'd put the US back on top as supernation juggernaught as our economy would take off again with the burden of carrying the lazy and inept removed from the back of the working. Put charity back in the hands of the private sector where it belongs. Churches and non religious groups would step/could step up and I'd be very inclined to give JUST as much as they steal from me, only difference being I could put my money where "I" want it to go. These annoying little special interest groups would fold because "We the Workign People" could stop funding them. People need to wake the F up and realize freedom ain't free! You wanna be free, you gotta work for it dammit! The very idea of demanding support and special treatment, all the while not contributing (working) is my definition of slothful scum; much in need euthanasia. .....and no, I don't necessarily endorse or support European Union style euthanasia programs.

  44. From my perspective, if you want to keep the government out of your own personal life - and I do, then you don't have a lot of standing to demand the government keep someone else from doing something in their own private life.    This is dangerous.  I find it kind of ironic, really.  The problem with the "moral majority" type view of using the power of the government to extend your influence is that you're trying to use what will always be a corrupt institution to do your bidding. And yet, you're naïve enough or stupid enough to believe that corruption won't rub off on you.   The government doesn't have a bit of bearing on how I worship, and frankly they wouldn't have much bearing even if they told me I can no longer worship. I already see myself as sort of an exile - there's nothing the government is going to do to change that.    The power structure that is our government isn't going to change.  I'm wary of anyone who thinks they can change it, or even influence it.  More often than not, it seems that the reverse happens and the power ends up influencing them instead.  Not to mention, the simple question that's happening today - what happens when your "majority" loses it's strength?  It shouldn't surprise you to see all of those structures of power that you've worked so hard to build turned against you.

  45. Yes! I don't like mo's but I don't have the right (no one else does either) to tell them what they can and can't do as long as they ain't hurting anyone. If churches oppose it, then oppose it within walls of their synagogue. People have to remember, the very thing that protects their choice of lifestyle, also protects YOURS. Provided no one is being hurt, abused or exploited, people HAVE to be free to live as they choose. I despise whores and lifestyles that support that kind of thing, but the very thing that protects evangelists bible thumping is what protects Larry Flint. True freedom is a very difficult balancing act. Sadly, the scales have been unbalanced in this country for a many, MANY years. It's unclear to me if they ever really were.
