  1. I come back to the why for the behavior. Replace a family unit with .gov Take away the need to provide food, clothing, and shelter. Expand benefits as new dependents are added. Single mother black families are reaching 70%, increasing from 30% in the 60s due to the war on poverty. Percentages are rapidly increasing in the White demographic as well as the Hispanic. Gangs create a family for cast off, fatherless kids of all races. Gangs provide employment and income opportunity Gangs and thug life are glamorized. Add Chicago's catch and release, ala no real consequences for actions, and you get the Purge every weekend.

  2. I can give an honest answer, but I fear I'll sink lower into the moderators' ire. What the hell. It needs to be said. As a culture, inner city blacks often breed like alley cats, resulting in a high percentage of children having no idea who their father is; let alone being able to learn from and being disciplined by them. Further, they are not taught a work ethic, and selling drugs paired with government assistance is an easy, labor free way to continue this lifestyle through the generations. That being said, this problem is NOT unique to black folks, but it looks to me like percentage wise, black people fall into this category more often than other races. Call me a racist or ban me from the forum, but please, show me the respect of disproving what i've said above first.

  4. I dug out my old Second Chance brand vest that I bought in 1995 when I was a reserve deputy with the sheriffs office. We had to buy our own equipment so I kept it and today I dug it out. It was made in 1995 and most Kevlar is rated or warranty for 5 years. It is soft body armor Kevlar with no metal plates. Mine shows that it is a level IIA and is rated for 9mm 124gr FMJ and 357mag 158gr JSP directly and any angle. It's also rated for .44 mag at perpendicular angles . Today I took out my panels and shot it with 9mm 147 gr FMJ and 45ACP 230gr . I shot it at a distance of 10 feet. It stopped them both. I shot it with 2 rds of each caliber. Just thought I'd share this since it was kinda neat . 23 years and it still stops bullets. And remember that heat is supposed to degrade Kevlar : I kept this vest in the trunk of my patrol car at my present day job as a "worst case scenario tool" , kinda redneck but putting more on cant hurt. Anyways I'm sure it got really hot in there for several years and now after 23 years it still works. Pretty neat huh ?

  5. Just look at today's entertainment offerings if you have any doubts about gregintenn or Gotthegoods posts. A very high percentage of African-American oriented tv and movies are all about the thug life, street hustle, and saying that anything goes in the pursuit of the almighty dollar. According to this entertainment media...guns, drugs, and money rule all life. And to "get your due" is the only way to live. By any means. Lawyers, Guns and Money...Warren Zevon had it right!

  6. Just wanted to let everyone know that I just perchases a TP9SFX. Ran 800 rounds and had 50 failure to eject . (155 grain ammo ). Called Century Arms via email and they sent me a new and lighter weight recoil spring at no cost to me. Got it yesterday and went to the range and ran 300 rounds with NO problems at all. This gun is freaking awesome. Will be entering my first IDPA match this weekend. Cannot wait. CALL CENTURY ARMS AND get the recoil spring.

  7. btq is right and a bit more info would be helpful as well. I also agree with my friend GTG and Erik that Com-Tac makes some solid gear. I use their mag carriers in particular. Have you decided if you want inside the waistband, outside the waistband, or appendix carry? Do you have a purpose made belt? In my humble opinion a purpose made belt is the foundation of a quality carry system. The "best" holster made is sub-optimal if it doesn't have a mated belt. The belt must (obviously) fit the belt loops of the holster and must fit your perceived needs, manner of dress and comfort. Holsters. There is a reason most of us have a "holster box". Holsters are similar to shoes, a person generally needs to try and find whats works best for them, so I can appreciate why you are asking for suggestions on this. I carry AIWB and have for a number of years. So my bias is towards the makers I use for that carry position. I'm currently carrying a Glock 17 with RMR and I'm using a Dale Fricke Seraphim matched with a Milt Sparks leather belt. Prior to my RMR'd Glock I carried a G 19 in a Dale Fricke Archangel on a Greg Kramer belt. I also have a Dark Star Gear AIWB "Hitchhiker" for my S&W Shield. But appendix is not a position I recommend to anyone. That's a conclusion that the individual needs to come to on their own, based on their needs and experience. There are inherent risks associated with all carry positions and AIWB needs to be approached cautiously with a solid understanding of the risks, benefits, and utilizing the proper technique. I'm personally a bit risk averse as far as hybrid holsters go as I've seen the leather weaken in relation to the kydex. As the leather malforms it can potentially interfere with safe reholstering . Reholstering improperly is probably the most dangerous part of carrying. It's certainly the issue behind the majority of GSW's I've treated over the past 12 years... I still have Com-Tac paddle holsters for strong-side OWB and think they are quality and a good value. But prior to that I was a leather IWB and OWB holster users from Kramer and Sparks...that was in the 90's so would come under the heading of ancient history at this point.. TGO David speaks very highly of Squared Away Custom. They have some great looking gear on their website. I haven't purchased from them yet, but I've certainly seen a few items I'm considering. https://www.squaredawaycustoms.com/ As far as "Gold Standard" thread? Kinda doubt it. Everybody has opinions and the interwebs are full of 'em. Good luck with your search. Jamie

  8. Be careful. I had a friend in the first grade killed when his dad hit a nest with gas and the explosion came up from under him 20 feet away and engulfed him in flames. He lived a couple of years, but ultimately the infections from the burns killed him. I’ll leave this here. I just saw this the other day and filed it away:

  9. Hi folks; new to your forum and really like what I see. I am trying to repair a Mossberg 472 (Western Field 47) lever action 30-30. I have watched all the available instructions (that I could find) on YouTube; most are excellent. My problem is a light or no primer strike. Most often the hammer will not even lose on the transfer block. I have replaced the hammer spring tube which seems to be the most common problem. No joy. All parts are free moving- no hang-ups anywhere. I have lots of exploded diagrams for reassembly. Note: I am attempting to fix this gun for a friend who disassembled it and could not figure out how to get it back together. I can understand that; it is not an easy gun to reassemble if you were not paying attention when taking it apart. Anyway, I am confident that I have assembled it correctly (well, maybe not...the hammer pusher will only install one way, so it is not upside down ). It acts as though the hammer spring is not strong enough to push the hammer forward. If you hold the trigger in the firing position, it will easily close in on the transfer bar when pushed. I tried an experiment. I took the old hammer spring tube, tapped the threaded end as far as the tap would go and then drilled the spring end through (5/16" drill in my lathe, so I am confident it is straight) and used the stock attaching bolt to compress the hammer spring a little tighter to see if a stronger spring pressure would cure the issue. All I accomplished was making the hammer harder to cock. This gun has an action called a 'rebound hammer' and I have checked, by taping the transfer bar, that the hammer makes contact (when it does travel forward) and it mostly makes contact but still not enough to strike the primer with any force. My friend said it fired consistently before he took it apart. By the by for those of you trying to disassemble one for whatever reason, the loading gate must be depressed a good bit before the action will drop out. It will fall past the gate then. The safety must be off and the hammer forward, hammer spring assembly removed (this will remain under pressure from the spring, so be careful. It is aluminum and it will wipe out the end threads if taken apart without maintaining forward pressure on the tube. Likewise, when assembling, it is not easy to line up the tube with the spring pressure so be careful when installing it to keep it straight) Once all of that is done, it will fall out if you hold your tongue right. The videos on YouTube all blow past assembling the hammer 'pusher' part. One remarks on the hammer spring tube pressure issue, but nothing on assembling the 'pusher' part. I have even tried assembling it upside-down just in case. No joy. I am at my wits end. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  10. The Squared Away Custom option @prag linked looks solid, and @TGO David isn't known for blowing his money on anything wasteful aside from well done steaks, so I'd find it hard to believe it's not good gear. Another option is below...small veteran owned company who isn't a big manufacturer, just focused on quality. I don't own one, but enough guys on another site I frequent are, and they give him glowing reviews. https://2aholster.com/product/iwb-soft-side-iwb/?v=7516fd43adaa

  13. That is one thing you will never as far as I know see a racist gang. They will take in all comers as long as you follow the chain on comand your in. Gangs are not all black or all Latino, or Chinese. If your looking for that kind of life they will accept you into their gang. All gangs look at power in numbers.

  14. I used to like Catoosa. I've never brought a deer out though. I shot my first deer there in 1992 on the open rifle hunt and he got stolen before I could get to him. I didn't hunt there again for about 15 years. As far as LBL goes I've never been but my pops says it's great and wants to go back.

  18. I used to hunt Catoosa ( Bi-Color), about every year. A bunch of guys from Hartsville & surrounding area, 10 - 15 of us. Rarely ever killed anything but time. Lot of fun tho. After the Forestry Service took over LBL from TVA, things changed some. Less getting off the main roads to get back in the woods, camping restricted to established camp grds, etc. At one time, one of, if not the best place in the state to hunt. Still be my 1st choice ( if I had one, LOL )

  21. Used to hunt LBL back in the early 80's. Hunted behind the old Iron furnace place back then, was still a lot of open fields there. Haven't even been to LBL in over 20 years so am sure it has changed a lot.

  22. The wife and I went to Sam Ash Music last night looking for my younger son a birthday present. I got to play a Martin D28, and was not at all impressed with it's sound. They didn't have a D18 in stock. I don't know if this particular guitar is a dud, or their quality isn't where is once was, but to my ear, my $300 Takemine sounds much better. Anyway, while searching for the birthday present, I played a Taylor Big Baby. https://www.samash.com/taylor-big-baby-taylor-acoustic-guitar-tbigbabym Now I have his present. I didn't play all the guitars in the store, but the sound of this one was much better than any other I tried. It's thin neck and low action also made it very easy to play. I think he will be happy with it. If not, I'll let him pick one out and keep it for myself. I can't believe how much sound comes out of this little fella!

  24. Holsters are like anything else...we need to know the intended use before making informed recommendations. One holster may be great for daily carry, but suck for the range or sport shooting, and vice versa.

  26. I'm not sure how well that would be, but probably not. I'm certainly not computer savvy enough to figure out how to post a YouTube video. I'm not a good enough shot to own a Colt Gold Cup National Match pistol either, but I still enjoy shooting it.

  27. Got this young coyote in my live trap last night. He's been hanging around for a few nites. Guess hunger got the best of him, that can of tuna was just too good to pass up.

  28. Years ago I ran over a ground bees nest and got chased off. I went back after dark as many have related and pored about a pint of gas or kerosene I don't remember. Touched if off from a distance and had the nicest little flame flickering away for over an hour. The next day I went out and the ground had caved in enough that it took a wheelbarrow full of dirt to level off the yard.
