  1. I've noted, I believe on this very forum, that Trump was a gun-banning Democrat before he decided it would be advantageous to pretend to be a Republican. But he actually has no genuine party or political affiliation. He's singularly focused on self-advancement, to the exclusion of all else. This means that he gets some things right and some things wrong, but he doesn't do anything that stems from a coherent political philosophy.

  2. The old Gallatin Gun Club is now the Middle Tennessee Sporting Association. We have a new location that we own and invite you to join as member of the range. We will have a 30+ bench rifle shed for 100-400 yard ranges, 2 trap stations and starting with 5 pistol bays. All the ranges are separated from each other with no overlap. Rifle ranges are on schedule to be completed by December 2018 with completion of the pistol bays and trap ranges by spring of 2019. IDPA, USPSA, 3-gun, ATA, high power, small bore and bench rest chair persons are planning events. These events will be slow starting at first because of ongoing construction. Stay tune for developments. We are planning on range improvements and adding new facilities in coming years as we grow. Oh yes, an Archery range is also in the works. Dues are a $200 one time application fee and $200 the first time then $200 per year after that. We have open spots, join with us as we grow. NRA membership is required alone with a clean record. ( It is a gun range after all) Contact Shawn Dorris at 615-452-5894 or shawndorris@comcast.net Mailing address is Middle Tennessee Sporting Association, PO Box 8846, Gallatin TN 37066 Range address is 319 Dry Branch RD, Dixon Springs TN 37057. This is just off highway 10 south of Layette TN.

  3. Went back today with some better ammo. Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle 100 yards iron sights hornady custom 168 Im ridiculously happy with that. I’m gonna get out there a couple more times with this ammo and see if I can repeat it and get the sights adjusted better They’re obviously a little high right now.

  4. New to posting in the forums, been a member for years, just never really logged in or posted. I like to reload and shoot all types of rifles and handguns and am currently a member at Strategic Edge in Chapel Hill. Currently shooting my FN SPR A5M 308 more than anything but I enjoy lever actions a lot as well. Hope to be of contribution and take away a few things as well. I have been down the suppressor road as well if anyone has questions pertaining to the process.

  5. That won't matter for most people. You will have a real hard time getting $600. You'd be better off selling the gun for $450 and the mags separately.

  6. Lol, that would qualify as a major upgrade in speed for me ...

  7. It's easy for the gun grabbers in America to say we are the worst of the worst because our news networks don't broadcast all the mass shootings around the world like they use to. One network use to brag about having World News Today with Walter Cronkite but it died when he died...................

  8. Very interesting indeed. Politicians and the media try to paint the U.S. as the most violent country in the world and all because we have so many guns. Truth is that we aren't even in the running. Here a mass shooting sparks 24/7 news coverage for who knows how long. However, It seems that in most other countries that a shooting will be reported on the evening news and then be more or less dropped. Public perception is everything. The truth doesn't matter.

  9. Had my original 1873 Springfield to the range a few weeks back. Lots of fun throwing 510gn subsonic loads at silly distances! The 4ish second wait to hear if I've hit steel at 800yds always gives me a tingle. I'm always amazed by how many people stop shooting to see if they can hear it too!

  13. Welcome to TGO! As for ranges, Strategic Edge in Chapel Hill is great, especially if you shoot long distance.

  14. I think they underestimated the dad / husband demographic. If you can't get him in the store to shop with wife / kids, he isn't spending on over priced non firearm stuff as well. Good luck to them, I have thrown away their mailed adverts for years.

  15. It’s actually a pretty solid idea. They completely alienated that market. So why not just dump it entirely and focus on the sports moms and dads. It doesn’t matter to me one way or another because I don’t shop there, but I can definitely see the merit in that course of action.

  16. How can I get any "lighter" than the popcorn emoji? It's a tried and true classic. But yes, it is unusually cold outside. I hate it.

  18. Depends what you consider 'old'. Every couple of years, I exercise my old 1865 Spencer carbine. More often, I put a few rounds through a 1903 Springfield. A Garand often gets some range time as do a Marlin 39 and Remington 12. Most commonly taken to the range are my old FN FAL and Remington 66. Every now and again, the M1917 Lewis and original AR10 get some exercise.

  19. I love the LCP 380 because it can be pocket carried and is also small enough to ankle carry. I know that ankle carry isn't the most efficient draw but on long road trips for the holidays it is nice to have it on my person without the bulk in my pockets. I liked the term I heard in a Paul Harrell video recently, "Program Compliance". I know I would be better off with my Glock 22 but sometimes it is just too much of a hassle and I would be unarmed if it weren't for the LCP. You made the right call to keep the 380 IMHO.

  21. The $400 startup membership fee is a bit much for me. Look forward to participating in USPSA/IDPA events as a guest. Congratulations on your new range.
