  2. I was finally able to pick up a Winchester 71. Been on the hunt for one for quite awhile. All the ones I wanted were in excellent shape and had the price tag to match. I found this one in an auction out west. It has seen a lot of use but that just gives it more character. The rear sight has been removed and a Lyman peep sight installed. I guess because of that nobody seemed interested and I picked it up pretty cheap. Now I just have to give it a good cleaning and put a few rounds through it.

  3. This happened yesterday June 22. Mass shooter tried to attack a church in Michigan. He was stopped and killed by church security. One member was shot in the leg. . Nothing on MSM about this. Why am I not surprised? 5. I doubt anyone is surprised that the media is refusing to cover this. Praise to the members of the security team who responded with God's guiding hand to protect His flock.

  8. I set off on my motorsickle this morning to ride to Cookeville to play some racquetball, as I do most every Monday. I wasn't too far from home when I crested a hill and there stood a big ol' black bear in the road. I stopped 75 feet or so from him. I was on a black bike with a black helmet, and he may have mistaken me for another bear, as he took a few steps in my direction. Let me tell you, guys, a black bear looks a lot different when you're sitting on a motorbike than it does when you're inside your pickup truck. Especially when he seems to have no particular concern about your presence. I've been close to bears in the woods a few times, but I always had a rifle or a bow in-hand. But I tootled my horn and flashed the high beams at him and he decided he wanted no part of me and headed into the woods that border the road. (The Catoosa Wildlife Area) It's amazing how hard they are to see once they're in the woods. I looked hard as I rode past where he left the road, and didn't see a thing.

  10. Looking for a small frame .22 revolver - ideally either a Smith 63 or 317 kit gun. I am an adult, reasonable, non-felon, not-weird, not-a-flake Tennessee resident. If you are a TN resident who owns that sort of gun, then I am willing to meet within 30 minutes of Nashville, shake hands, show ID, sign a bill of sale, pay a fair price, and not wear saggy pants. Thank you.

  13. The OP had asked for "thoughts on 9mm 1911 for EDC" and I, as well as others, responded about Commander size 1911s in 9mm as well as in .45 ACP. A full size 1911 in 9mm is a very pleasant handgun to shoot. S&W SW1911 Pro Series 9mm With the right high ride/close tuck holster, reasonably loose clothing, and care they can be acceptably discreetly concealed and carried. Cheers James

  14. I spray it with yellow cap oven cleaner and leave it in a plastic bag overnight. Steel wool then takes everything off with little effort.

  15. This rare hunting rifle is an American classic. Ruger m77 chambered in 308. Comes fitted with Tasco 6-24x40 Rifle Scope. Glass is excellent. 24" heavy barrel. Coveted tang safety model with iconic red recoil pad original to the rifle. Made in 1984. Overall condition is excellent, with only a few minor scratches on the wood. Pictures don't do it justice. Accuracy is fantastic.

  18. Yes, I would rather pay less for a good used firearm. Then a buttload more for one that hadn't been used. Something about a used firearm just makes it more appealing to me. Congrats on the buy!

  20. Well, that dude is banned now and I removed his contact info to remove the traces. So I guess now you just get an extra bump for an awesome pistol. Good luck with the sale.

  21. When cast iron had a heavy build up we'd build a large fire in the backyard and place the piece in the coals to cook. Adding more wood so cooking was done for hours, 3 or 4. A heavy scrubbing in hot soapy water then rinse. Into the oven at 400 degrees for 30 minutes to remove all water. Let cool to touch and wipe inside and out with shortening. Looked new again.

  26. I ain't a fan of the de-cocker. Too old I guess, I like the safety setup on the 1911 n CZ pistolas. Simple manual of arms. leroy .

  27. So here is something I dont really understand about a de-cocker. All my CZ's (and others) are the safety models, and I just lower the hammer by hand if I want to de-cock it. But I still have the safety to use. With the de-cocker models, thats all you have. I feel like I'm getting more for my money-lol.
