  1. Here are a couple of pics of a knife that I had him build for me. I got the idea from looking at some Randall Knives and asked him if he could put his spin on a Randall 1-8, and he came through. I can't wait to get this knife in my hands. Thanks again Don and who ever made the Randall style sheath to go along with it.

  4. I've read nothing but good reviews. Opinions vary, but the general consensus is it's a heckuva pistol for the price.

  5. There was a bunch available a few years ago, no issues were reported. It's boxer primed, non corrosive, and reloadable. Probably a match to Federal XM193 55gr FMJ, not a bad find.

  6. I believe that is South African. 86 is the year and 13 is the load identification code used by Pretoria Metal Pressing Ltd Pretoria, RSA.

  7. I’ve never had a deer spook from the smell. I’d say if it was close enough that it smelled the Thermacell then it could smell you anyway. They make Earth scents as well but I’ve used regular for years and never had issues. But it is night and day difference as far as keeping mosquitoes off versus sprays. Within five minutes of turning it on they’re gone. I keep an extra fuel refill and extra pads in my backpack. I wanted to add that I thought the same thing for years when I first heard about Thermacell. But swatting mosquitoes scares more deer than the smell of the repellent. I wish I’d done it a long time ago. I only started using them when I began bow hunting. I used to only rifle hunt and didn’t have much trouble with mosquitoes at that time of year unless I hunted close to water on a warmer day.

  10. I guess my question is why would you carry a non engraved finished lower? All the 80% lowers I've finished have been engraved from the get go should I want to form 1 an SBR from them later, and it makes it more likely to be recoverable should it ever be lost/stolen. While it's legal to carry an un-engraved home finished lower, I just don't see any real advantage for the law abiding gun owner.

  11. I think that he spent a few days with some a$$hole in a house who was helping him out. When he was taken into custody he was well shaved didn't have beard growth like you'd have after 7 days.

  12. When on the road I take a Sig 556 pistol with me. legal pretty much anywhere my carry permit is. I'm all about 80% lowers but only as something that stays behind in a very secure and hidden place. I would not want the hassle of trying to explain the legality of an 80% lower while I wait for my lawyer to secure my release.

  13. Since I like to keep life simple here’s what I would do: If you have a permit carry a proper handgun. If you are legally allowed to own a firearm, keep a carbine in your vehicle if you feel the need for that kind of firepower. Myself, I’m not into playing roadside lawyer and whipping out internet documents in the event an interaction with The Law occurred. The odds are stacked against you.

  14. I personally feel it would not be an issue, I would just keep links to the pertinent NFA rules and possibly a printout to show any LEO if they don't know. However, why bother? Lowers are at an all time low, and available everywhere, so the risk/reward isn't there. If all you want, as I do, is to build your own, then have at it, it's legal, just be sure to check adjacent state/local laws to make sure there are no laws against it.

  15. Too many police officers can't keep things straight when it comes to basic laws. Although there is nothing illegal about what you want to do, how many thousands of dollars are you prepared to spend too keep your good name in the event you run into a cop that is confused on the law? More trouble than it's worth imo.

  16. Maybe I won't have to see any more steep hills-n-hollers til deer season! I'm thankful for the Lord's grace in this. As far as I know we had no serious injuries out of the scores of people who were there. (Except for me feeling old)
