  1. I'm sure it is a far better machine than most you find today. I haven't been to/through Memphis in ten years or more. I don't expect I will be. I do appreciate the offer though.
  2. I have been watching TGO classifieds for the east end of the state ads trying to find something on my short list to no avail. I started hitting shops in a wide area over the last two weeks and today ran across a Springfield XD Mod 2 4" 9mm with an exceptional trigger on it. It came home with me. I was looking for a Sig P365XL and will continue to look for one at a decent price until one of those comes home with me. I did find that after groping many makes and models there were several that appealed to me and my short list grew longer. One thing I would like to mention is that yesterday I was in Knoxville Tactical. They had more inventory than most and which is part of why my list of wants expanded. Yet they did not have what I needed at this time. A young man in his mid 20s came in and wandered about for a bit and was approached by the store worker, another young man in his mid 20s who asked if he could help. The customer stuttered and stammered at length and the more he spoke the more obvious it was that he knew absolutely nothing about firearms. He openly stated that he was ignorant to firearms, never fired one, never owned one, and had always been anti gun. He stated that he had come to realize that it was time he acquired one and become educated as to safe operation. All of these statements were made in a stammered voice lacking confidence. I tip my hat to the employee who was very understanding and took all the time in the world to question as to intended use in order to provide some suggestions for consideration. I also listened as the employee stressed the importance of training and education being completed in preparation for ownership and offered means for such. The customer became much more comfortable and inquisitive. The young man was still in the store when I left and I feel confident that he was guided appropriately. Never once did the employee display an air of superior knowledge or speak down to the customer, it was more like a "welcome to the fold brother" encounter. This was only the third time I have been in that shop because it is quite a distance from my place. I will return though. I was impressed. So, if anyone on the east end of this great State needs to re-home a Sig P365XL I promise to feed it well.
  3. If you find out, let me know. My Delta variable speed exploded a drive gear 8 months ago and I have yet to find one to replace it. I gave up trying to find a decent bench top drill press for under $500 new. I have been trying to find something as yard or estate sales that was made in the 60s, 70s, or 80s that still has life in it. Everything out there that I can find new is china products, cheaply made and no parts support.
  4. Well, on the bright side, this whole mask thing is gonna wreak havoc on all the facial recognition data collection programs.
  5. I think I will just stay home, I have come to realize I don't really care for human interaction anyway these days.
  6. A Great American indeed. Rest in Peace and prayers to the Daniels family.
  7. I originally tried Morgan-Stanley Dean Witter and felt as though I was speaking with a carnival barker every time I spoke with the broker. I moved to Edward Jones and found them not only to be expensive but constantly pushed for investment in Edward Jones funds over others. I have been handling my own for years now with a conservative approach. I may not get the rocket climbs but I also don't experience the drops. I use the turtle and hare approach in that slow and steady wins the race.
  8. I realized I hadn't seen a Doctor in the last 10 years except for colonoscopy's and figured since I had passed 60 I had better find one I could call mine in case I had to have one. So last Friday I went to a Doctor for initial consultation and general review. So when he came in the room he asked what I was there for and I told him the above and coupled with the fact that I was getting old and for the last couple of years I had been a biscuit away from 200 pounds and wanted to lose some weight. I then asked him how long he had been doctoring. He seemed a little put off by that but then started giving me a full run down on his education and experience. I stopped him and explained I just wanted to find a Doctor that was going to out last me so I didn't have to find another one. He laughed and told me to get on the scale. I must have eaten the biscuit...with jelly. He told me to cut the carbs and limit the sugar, and after review of my blood work he told me to come back when I needed a Doctor. I have the same aches and pains any old dude like me can expect, bad knees, bum shoulder, stiff joints etc. but I was never too easy on myself between multiple collapsed lungs and several broken bones etc. in my younger days, so I just feel blessed to be in the shape I am so far. If I can just drop 25 to 30 pounds I will be happy. Even without my ice cream, sweet tea and mashed potatoes.
  9. My condolences to you. The loss of a four legged companion is one the worst pains there is. Many prefer to wait a while before bringing another into the fold. Some like to find another soon after. I have done both ways and must say that getting another soon after actually provided me a lot of comfort and helped me to grieve the loss. It actually escalated the bonding process for us both. But that's just me.
  10. I went to the "get my payment" which indicated they did not have my Direct Deposit info. In looking to provide the info I found that it asked for my personal info and 2019 AGI. The wife and I filled jointly and there was no where to indicate that the AGI was a joint AGI. If they took only my info associated with the AGI it would appear that I exceeded the limit for eligibility yet filing jointly we were within the limit yet like I said, there was nowhere to indicate it was a joint filing. I decided to just wait and see if a check comes.
  11. Just curious why all the geographical area forums say their purpose is talk about Nashville and Middle Tennessee Area, if so, we only need one of these.
  12. Though I do believe this speaks volumes as to the character of KahrMan...something about the above seemed a little creepy.
  13. ...or be the first person they think of when the panic subsides and they decide they want to sell that evil weapon they bought cheap just to get it out of the house before it attacks someone.
  14. Perimeter Defense and Perimeter Detection are two different things. Detection can be as simple as tin cans and fishing line, daisy chained driveway sensors set for zone coverage up to microwave sensors and assorted motion alarms. As for the cash, put it in the stock market, there is a big sale going on right now.

    My Sigs

I will stumble across a P226 and P228 one day that just has to go home with me.

    My Sigs

I sure hope it is not a sin to covet thy fellow forum members Sigs. Very nice.
  17. Oh yeah, you can take those statistics to the bank...much like a counterfeit $100 bill.
  18. I have often thought I should give one of those a home. I just haven't had one follow me home yet.
  19. Save 15% of everything you make and don't touch it until you can't make anymore. "Want" and "need" are not the same thing. Remember that the "Big Picture" is not a self portrait.
  20. Congratulations to both of you. The wife and I are at 34 and counting.
  21. This times 2. The City of Oak Ridge tends to have grandiose ideas yet no business sense or fiscal intelligence. They are a soft target for developers to rip off.
  22. Dang! Then I would have to carry 10 or more weapons.
  23. The guys on the left and right need to learn where to put their booger hookers.
  24. Very first of many cars and trucks was a spotless 1964 Chevy Impala 4dr, 283 V8, auto, P/S, factory below dash A/C. It only had 28K miles on it and still had the clear plastic seat wrap on it when I bought from a little grandma for $300 in 1975. First day I drove it to school all the rich kids were razzin' me about while standing next to their Trans Ams, 280Zs etc. I just said "Yeah, but Daddy didn't buy mine." I never heard another word about it. Other memorable cars that I wish I still had included: 1976 L82 Corvette 1967 Catalina 2+2 Tri-Power, 4spd., 428 CI, NASCAR production. 1975.5 455 Super Duty Trans Am, 4 speed. Mid year production, very limited numbers. 1970 Cougar XR7, 351 Cleveland convertible. 1965 Mustang 2+2 Fastback, 4-speed, 289 1955 (Late) GMC stepside. 2006 Mustang GT 2007 Mustang GT 1970 Mustang Mach 1, 351 V8, auto. Making this list brought back a lot of memories and surprising, I never wrecked any of them. I have had many other vehicles but these were my most enjoyable.
