I have worn shoulder rigs a great deal over the years. I personally have never cared for IWB holsters although I have tried. I like leather, I'm Ol' School I guess. I never cared for ankle rigs. I have several OWB high ride holsters that I like when appropriate but since you asked about shoulder rigs, I'll share my preference. I have Galco, Bianchi, and Vega shoulder rigs that I like very well. All of mine are horizontal holsters with the exception of the Bianchi X-15 for large frame revolvers which is vertical. One of my favorites that is no longer made but can be found used is the Bianchi 9R-1 designed for small revolvers. It is a bottom drop design that I really like for my Colt Detective Special. It can be worn as a shoulder rig or removed from harness and worn on belt. My first Galco was the Miami Classic I purchased in the 80s and is still in service. It has a double mag pouch that offsets the weight of the weapon, as do most of those mentioned. I have several of these for different weapons, although the design is the same I think they may have a different name now. I recently found the Vega holsters that also offer multi use designs in that one shoulder rig can be used for OWB, LB, or Shoulder carry. I have been very pleased with Vega and one of these is a go to rig for carrying my Bersa thunder. Historically I have been a big Bianchi fan but over the years it seems that their quality has dropped. Now when I seek Bianchi I tend to hit Ebay and holster bins in local shops and try to find the older manufactured goods. Avoid nylon rigs and save yourself the disappointment. That is probably a whole lot more than you wanted to read, sorry, I got on a roll.

Welcome to Tennessee. I to am retired Law Enforcement with my full career right here in East Tennessee. I went with the HCP as opposed to jumping through the hoops of the retired officer carry.

I spent years rolling around on the ground in the gravel working on cars and said if I ever was able I would build a shop I could work in. I now have it and have the tools to do the work, but somehow the beer fridge, stereo and television seems to capture my attention more than anything.

No shop is ever large enough. I built a 30x40 with 10' ceiling so not to bump out an engine hoist. Self-supporting trusses so not to have any support posts to bang car doors on or bump a floor jack handle into. Fiber mesh concrete with moisture barrier and re bar reinforcement in the floors so not to have anything metal on the floor rust or slab to crack. I built two feet of foundation above the slab and then stud walls on top of that to allow for washing the floors, or washing cars inside without getting the walls wet. I have a 3" drop over 30' feet from back to front so water will run out the doors rather than to put a drain in the floor (they are prone to fail). This amount of drop is not detectable when walking around. I covered the walls in 4x8 sheets of dry erase board and white pegboard. This does not collect dust like drywall, can be used for diagrams and measurements (dry erase markers everywhere), and light reflection is great so to prevent shadows when doing body work. The walls are easily cleaned with a swiffer. I put 3 standard garage doors on the front and one 12 footer on the back. This allows for drive through capability which is much easier than backing a trailer down a long drive and into the garage plus it makes for great ventilation on warm summer days. Ceiling fans, stereo, TV, beer fridge and tools. Upstairs, is a 16x40 storage room with 8' ceiling. This space could be made into an apartment but I prefer the storage space. I just told the wife yesterday that I needed to build a wing on the garage or get a storage building. No shop is ever large enough.

Fear is very powerful...Courage is often the ability to control the fear and use it to your advantage.

Happy Birthday and best wishes on your surgery/recovery.

BINGO. So with the new push for legislation I decided maybe I needed to go ahead and order more now before the prices get ridiculous again. I thought I better check inventory to decide what I might need. After completion of inventory I decided to just forget it, I'm good.

Combination of the two answers above, because you can and even if you don't develop a liking for it you can pass it down. The recipient may be very appreciative. Not to mention, all my ARs have appreciated more in value than the investment would have in my savings account.

Has the panic buying started? FL gun show draws 1000's

I noticed Tractor supply was sold out of shovels -
I have been sitting back reading some of the generalized comments on this thread that are painting LEOs with a very broad brush as a result of the despicable actions of this Officer. There may have been some extenuating circumstance driving his inaction, but I cannot honestly imagine what it would have been. I retired from my Law Enforcement career after 25 years and yes, I have run to the gunfire on many occasions...and still do today as demonstrated last year in my community. I entered my career in LE as a public servant, I swore to Serve and Protect the citizens, and did to the best of my ability. I don't care what some court may have determined, it was my duty and I readily accepted such as do 99% of the Officers wearing a badge. Yes, there is the 1% still out there that were hired and should not have been, and then retained through negligent retention. Some of that 1% may well be "good people" but not cut out to be Officers for they are not of the "Sheepdog" mentality. Let's take care and condemn the actions of the individual when warranted, not the profession. Do not let the actions of a few soil the reputation of the whole. We as gun owners in general fall prey to this every time some nimrod skins his ignorance with a firearm and anti-gunners lump all into the same pot. Much as though some of the comments have done regarding LEOs. With the information available, the Officer disgraced himself and the profession at a insurmountable cost. Prayers for those lost and their families, prayers for the 99% to endure and prevail, and the 1% to find another profession.

Before my kids started sports I was heavy into tournament fishing...they are 21 and 22 now so it has been awhile. I used to be very satisfied with Berkley Powerline Fireline (Braid) and P-Line (Mono) for light line applications. Braid requires quality rod eyes so as not to cut/groove them and the P-Line is prone to twist on open face spinners if your take up bearing isn't lubed well. Both have little to no stretch, excellent knot strength when using polimar knots. Just don't set the hook too hard or you will hurt your wrist due to the no stretch part. That was probably more info than you wanted/needed but I got on a roll.

Same with me and the price was right.

I went ahead as a just in case and ordered the 7 PMAGs and Case on the daily deals. If they don't run the sale again on the AKs I can use them with my WASR.
-
I didn't see any in stock for the last few days. I am beginning to wonder if current events may have put an end to the sales.

From what I have read, the Gen 2s all have billet trunions which was supposed to have solved that concern. It seems the first gens had cast trunions. Again, not first hand knowledge, I read it on the interweb so it must be true. I keep hearing good things so I guess if they run them again I will have to hit the button. Thanks for the update.

I know, I know... thread resurrection. I am just curious how this has worked out for you. I have been arguing with myself about buying one of the MOEKOV PSA AKs and I think I am going to lose the argument. Are you still as pleased today as you were in August? My booger hooker is hovering over the buy button just waiting for them to list again with free shipping.

Minimum Age to purchase a handgun in TN
tacops replied to RottenBlood's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I remember when the agency I was with hired an Officer that was under 19. He attended TLETA and became a commissioned Officer. He had to ask other Officers to buy ammo for him to go to the range. It was hard on him. -
I had a DW 4" .357 in 1982 and had a chance to buy a pistol pak for $500 that same year. I thought it was just too much money at the time.

My wife would say...just move it a little to the left.

Prayers up for the both of you. It sounds as though he has an excellent foundation.

Mr. Mildot and Hipower, I tip my hat to the both of you, class act on both counts. My condolences to Mr. Mildot for having to return to never never land. Maybe one day you can just come to Tennessee on a one way trip.
