I just read this on the news:

ATLANTA -- A minor earthquake rattled the Southeast Saturday morning, sending a jolt felt across parts of Atlanta and into Tennessee.

The magnitude 4.1 quake struck about 13 miles southeast of Greenback, Tennessee, just after 9 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It had a depth of about 15 miles.

Did any of you out East feel it?

We live near the airport, I thought a plane may have crashed. I feel like I only felt it 3-5 seconds.

Rosie has been acting strange since she woke me up earlier than normal and has only just now decided to lay down after an active morning. I didn't feel anything.

You'd think it would be over towards us near West Tn where the New Madrid Fault line created Reelfoot Lake. Glad you guys are ok.

They are actually pretty common in east TN as there is a fault zone here but most are not felt and are fairly localized.  Today was very noticeable across the whole region.

We felt it out in Powell... Ya could feel the shake, not unlike a quarry blast wave, for a couple of seconds.  Short n travelling fast.

#MeToo

My wife asked me if I felt it, I said 4 is nothing, a fat lady tripping outside of McDonalds would register a higher reading.

Thought the house was coming down in Knoxville.

No kidding? I bet that’s unnerving.

I'm on the Greenback end of murvul. It started with a bang, then shook the house pretty good for 5-10 seconds. Enough to rattle the pictures against the walls and make my ceiling fans wobble.

The bang made me initially think a plane crashed or something exploded, but the following shaking made me think earthquake.  It was interesting for sure.

I walked outside and lots of my neighbors were out talking about it. No plumes of smoke visible, so that's good.

Daughter lives in Karns, just off Hwy 62 closer to Oak Ridge, and she felt it, rattled the entire house she said.  Brother said that people in Greenville felt it, but he didn't as he lives close to the Tri-Cities Airport.  We did not feel anything as we were in the car at the time of the quake, the dog was in the car and she was wound up, possibly from the quake.

I actually thought a vehicle crashed either outside or into my house for a split second. Never felt anything like it. It shook my whole house for a 10-15 seconds and then continued to shake at a lesser amount for a little longer. If that was a 4.1, I can't imagine what a 6-8 would feel like.

Friends and I were down by Calderwood Lake just ahead of the Dragon about the time it hit.  We were riding in the car and didn't feel much since we were making a lot of twists and turns anyway.  When we stopped to rest a couple came up and said it gave them quite a jolt.  The good Lord does shake us up at times in one way or another.

Spoke to my brother in Maryville about the quake. He was on the tractor and never felt it. His wife said, who was in the house, sounded like the goats were  on the porch, and then sounded like they were on the roof. But he has no damage

I wonder how many building in east TN were built with any thought toward earthquakes whatsoever. I would presume there could be damages that nobody sees, but might cause catastrophic issues down the road.

I live just over a mile from the Vulcan limestone quarry SE of downtown Maryville.  Every month or so they blow up a new section of rock, which gives a brief jolt to my house, but a more intense shake to those closer in.  I understand that quite a few houses near the quarry have foundation problems, but I have footers about 10 feet deep and no damage in the 20 years that the house has been standing.  I don't know how Vulcan gets away with it, but it's just another thing we have to live with.
