I woke last night to the sound of thunder
How far off I sat and wondered
Started humming a song from 1962
Ain't it funny how the night moves

Well ya, we have a tin roof, sounds good in the house, great on the porch.

The storm made the creek rise enough to keep me out of work,

Washed a LARGE amount of dirt and grass, bout 4 feet high by 5 feet wide pile.

Covered half of my low water bridge. we had to get out after the water went down and clean it up.

Just now able to get out.

A 70 degree night, overcast with a light breeze. Tack on distant thunder and loon calls.... I could listen to that forever.

I like it, too. The awesomeness of the weather talking to you. I just wish I had a metal roof, once again. I can

sleep like a baby when it's raining.

I sure do.  On occasion I have to work 12 hour night shifts. I have a really hard time sleeping in the daytime.  I found a cd one time with outdoor sounds and one was called Thunderstorm.  That was exactly what it was.  A thunderstorm off in the distance with LONG rolling thunder and rain.  The rain was soft but got harder as the storm got closer, then was steady for about 15 minutes then slowly faded.  The cd had several kinds of outdoor sounds, but I simply cut a cd with just the storm.  I'd put that thing in and hit replay......I'd sleep like a baby all day long.  It did drown out other sounds, but the rain storm?  Oh yeah baby.......I was in ZZZZ land in no time.

Funny thing was, I decided to try the Babbling Brook sound....I did real good for about 4 or 5 minutes. About the time I was asleep, a freak'n woodhen screeched into the recording and I came straight up outta bed.  I went back to the thunderstorm and didn't look back.

I like watching it storm, as long as the sky doesn't turn green.  But I really wish I could sleep through them when they arrive at 3am.

I have seen this in the winter, lighting and thunder, then sleet.

If it werent for that fact that I have seen and heard it 6 out of 7 days a week for the last month and a half I could agree with ya.

Sitting in an enclosed deck, listening to it rain, eating hot wings, drinking a cold one and watching a football game.  Now that is living....

I like sitting on my open porch and watch it rain and the storm roll in.  My father does the same, and now my young boys do the same.  We usually do this until the storm is very close, like lightening and thunder are only separated by nano seconds, then we move in doors at a very close pace.

I use to until the tornado's and golf ball and larger size hail started dropping from them around here! And scraping yourself off the bedroom ceiling with a dull putty knife at 2:00 A.M. when a strong lightning bolt strikes a tree close to your house isn't my idea of enjoyment :stunned:

If you can hear thunder, you can be struck by lightening.  A young girl near here was struck yesterday evening.

I like rain, like to sit on the porch with a beer and a cigar while it rains.  Hate severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings because of Skywarn spotter activations.

I've always loved the sound of thunder accompanied by rain. Growing up in the foothills of the Smokies, I used to sit outside on my parents' covered patio and watch the thunderclouds roll over the mountains and marvel at the majesty of nature.
