Assuming TN goes red without you. If it doesn't, you helped elect Obama -- and 25-30 years of a liberal Supreme Court, assuming we're still an entity that long. Sleep on that. - OS2 points

Any Police Officer here carry a Sig P220 as a duty weapon? If so - Please contact me via a PM or email. I have something very nice for you.1 point

Great job today, and thank you, gentlemen, for your work today leading the funeral procession for Spc. Jason Edens. The bikes alone stretched for a mile, and I'm not exaggerating. From my vantage point on Sneed Road, I could see approximately 1000 yards west, and there were riders as far as I could see. This was around halfway through the procession. Sorry, Westboro Baptist, better luck next time. I know there's a lot of doom and gloom on this site and many others about the impending death of the republic, but seeing all the people lining the roads for a fallen soldier most of them had never met, including myself, the hundreds of riders leading the way, the flags...it's the kind of thing that makes me proud of my country and my neighbors. We may be down, but we are not out yet, and won't be so long as we have communities like this one.1 point

I think I've finally figured out why the whole CC vs OC thing bugs me to the point of being uncomfortable. It's because it's like every religion vs non-religion/God vs atheist thread I've ever read: Person 1: "My way is better than your way because there's no scientific evidence that proves that your way is anything but stupid and uninformed." Person 2: "Just because you're too close minded and cynical to accept that my way may very well be the true way doesn't mean that my way is stupid." Person 1: "Your way may have had some merit 150 years ago when no one knew any better, but now that incontrovertible evidence has come to light, you really should accept my way." Person 2: "If my way was good enough for my daddy and his daddy and his daddy's daddy and his daddy before him, then by <deity> it's good enough for me!" Person 1: "Why can't you see that your way is nothing more than outdated, superstitious rhetoric?!!" Person 2: "Why can't you see that my way has its own personal merits?!!" Person 3: "Well, I grew up doing it that way, but I don't hardly ever do it that way anymore except on special occasions." Person 4: "I don't do it that way at all anymore, but that doesn't mean that I don't still believe in doing it." Person 1: "I've given you fact after fact after fact showing you exactly why my way is best, so why don't you get it?!!! Persons 2,3,4: "No, you've given us fact after fact after fact showing why your way is best for you." Person 5: "Person 1 is so obviously right that it doesn't make sense to me to approach it any other way, but to each his own." Person 6: "Well, what it all boils down to is that if your way is right, then none of this matters to any of us, but if my way is right it matters a bunch to all of us..." Person 7: "You know what? I don't really give a damn whose way is best - all I'm interested in is which way is best for me." Person 8: "I'd attempt to inject some humor into this free for all but I'm afraid that you'd all turn against me. Then again, what the hell - at least you'd be united on something!" I could go on (and on and on...) but I won't. We're all, as gun owners/HCP holders, supposed to be on the same side, and yet it seems that a little thing like how or where to carry continues to divide us. The CC guys talk about the impression that OC may leave with the uninformed public and don't take into account the occasional down right vitriol that threads like this one contain - Wanna' turn someone against gun ownership? Let 'em read one of these threads! And the OC guys talk about how honest they are and how they never have any problems because they continually comport themselves in such an aboveboard manner of decency as to garner the respect of the general public - Wanna' lose the gp's respect? Let 'em read one of these threads! From here on out, the long and short of it for me is that I no longer give a damn (not that I ever really did) who carries what or how they carry it, so long as it's done legally. I'm no longer going to state my particular preference or the reasoning behind it or the fact that said preference might change depending upon circumstances. Heck, from here on out, I may not even admit to carrying at all just because I'm tired of the vitriol exhibited on both sides of the fence. (Almost takes us back to the religion thing, doesn't it?) Bottom line, you wanna' carry concealed, do it! You wanna' carry open, do it! You wanna' go both ways and stick it up your @ss with a flag tied to it, please feel free. I promise to give absolutely not a damn - and I further promise follow my own advice and keep my nose out these threads in the future. Have a great week, everyone!1 point

You can say that, but you would be wrong. I certainly don't want to turn this into a religious debate, but how did you come to that conclusion? Christianity is almost 600 years older than Islam. Muhammad, the founder of Islam, wasn't even born until the 6th century.1 point

I will give you a call. It is a New in box Aker international hoster and a couple of other police items. Worth about $100 or so. I don't need them and want a police officer to have them. http://akerleather.com/off-duty-holsters.php?cat=off-duty-holsters&name=Nightguard%E2%84%A2&id=1671 point

Have one of them contact me via PM or email. I won the 40 year anniversary door prize at GT Distributors and have something I want to give them. I am only offering this to someone who is serving as a police officer. If I don't here from one here in the next day or so I am going to give it to CPAAA1 point

Less than perfect? How about not even constitutional. The TN Legislature is limited to regulating the WEARING of firearms... last time I checked, that did not include purchasing a firearm. So why is it we have to pay a $10 fee on every firearm purchased via a FFL? It's nothing but make work for TDOS, desk jobs which do nothing to protect us and violate our God given rights everyday. I'm hoping one day we can get a class action lawsuit against the state for all the money they have stolen from us.1 point

A vote not made or one for any candidate but Romney is a vote for Obama. Don't make political statements in voting booths.1 point

My take on woman open carry seems as woman being less of a threat to others. Most criminals are men. I dont open carry to simply just avoid the drsma..after all..we do shop at Wal-Mart..hehehe On not showing your permit if asked....if you are not gonna comply with the laws that come along with the priviledge of carrying a firearm...then you dont need to carry. You're absolutely right. The three most important things RP would accomplish would be to rescind a whole bunch of executive orders, get rid of a bunch of 'czars', and veto most every new law Congress passes. "Constitutional? No? Well, thanks for playing anyway." That wouldn't be useful, right? Voting for the guy that can get the most new laws passed makes as much sense as saying Mitt is a conservative candidate.1 point

Anyone who thinks that if Paul is elected the country will magically transform overnight into Libertarian heaven needs to get off the stuff they think should be legalized. The president can do damn little without the support of Congress, the Supreme Court and, as we've seen in the last three years, the fawning press. Paul will get a majority of none of these. His presidency will be little more than a continual rant over how hard Washington is fighting against his ideals. Contrary to what we're brainwashed to believe, the executive office doesn't run the entire country. If you really want to make a difference, fight your battles in your own city, county and state. . There's a lot to do right here at home to regain our freedoms.1 point

the bottom line is that if Ron Paul gave a damn he would endorse Romney. If he doesn't do that then he is pretty much a befuddled old geezer. ( no offense intended to the old geezers around here)1 point

Guys and girls, a vote for anyone other than Romney, is a vote for overturning the current makeup of the Supreme Court. If that is changed, then you can start kissing what rights we still have good by, starting with the Second Amendmend. I hope that Ron Paul will get behind Romney and instruct his supporters to vote Republican.1 point

this thread got me pumped about going, so today I took the mauser. Put up 2 shoot & sees, the 5 or 6 inch circle ones with an x in the middle at 100 yards. 19 shots (wife took #20), 13 hits. Not bad for me, I am poorish with iron sights. Today was very nice, it tried to rain a little as we packed up but we trusted our luck and it was beautiful. Everyone else must have been doing yardwork, we had the range to ourselves.... hope some of you at least got a chance to shoot today in equally great weather.1 point

The only thing that will motivate those sorry souls in Washington is a fear of losing their cushy jobs. Big votes for Ron won't accomplish that. I would be a much happier guy if he had enough support to win. He simply doesn't. In fact, it's about the only thing we can count on. Ron Paul won't be the president.1 point

I'm a former LEO and if this crap were to happen to me I'd tell the officer that I ain't his momma so it ain't my job to make him feel better. He needs to get his panties out of a wad cause I ain't giving consent to search nothing.....Also, he'd better give me dang good reason for stopping me without a violation.1 point

The thing that bugs me is that the government is spending millions of taxpayer dollars prosecuting a case in which they have very little chance of winning. And their star witness took more than Edwards did, and he's off the hook. I have to remind myself... it's a legal system, not a justice system.1 point

Must be different for different individuals. I've had to self-inject epi when I had an allergic reaction to yellowjackets. I was good as new 20 minutes later except for soreness at the injection site. The first time I had a reaction, I had no epinephrine and I did get nauseous then. To the OP, like Metalhead said, having a plan in place will help a lot in case it happens again. Training and a plan. Those will help prevent the massive adrenaline dump in the first place. And don't let yourself be surprised by anything. Expect that car to pull out in front of you. Expect that person standing too close to grab your wife's purse. And expect that knock (or pounding) on the door when you're relaxing at home. Or maybe I'm just a natural pessimist. But it's always worked for me.1 point

I think you already know the answer. What we do is not combat training. It is a sport, a game. No IDPA rules apply to the match setup rules , scoring, or procedurals. The appendix bolstered are designed to sweep your body automatically. Appendix holsters are used by people, that is their choice. I will not risk any competitors safety with a negligent discharge due to this type of equipment. In short. No appendix, shoulder, ankle, small of the back holsters will be allowed. These are fine if you want to use them as EDC, but not for Music City Tactical Shooters matches.1 point

I think half of the ticks in the state reside at Boxwell. I was always told it was because of all of the cedar trees, which aren't really cedar, but juniper. Lots of good memories there though, spent a lot of summers there.1 point
