  2. Support anyone but those. I have said for a long time I will no longer vote for an encumbant. The reason is I would rather take a chance on someone I do not know than someone who has proven to not represent me.

  3. Another consideration of the green aspect, the electricity has to be generated somehow. It doesn't magically appear. Instead of generating power locally (internal combustion engine), you are moving it down the chain.

  4. In some ways I think posting on their Facebook pages is better. Mainly because unlike the many emails I have sent over the past few months these postings are public. They can help rally people.   It seems like it would be easier for a staffer to dismiss "X" number of emails because no one but the office staff knows how many were sent in, pro or con an issue. With Facebook being a public forum (mostly) ANYONE can see how much their constituency is upset and exactly why. That includes not only the Senator's Staff, but also those thinking about mounting a primary challenge against them. (And they know that.)   Hundreds of comments on their facebook posts can also bring more attention to their actions. Very similar to when a commercial business has to take time to respond and do damage control when negative reactions start to get posted on their wall.   A good solid way to vent disapproval. On a gun forum only gun guys (gals implied but not specifically stated)  will see it, send an email or call (which we still should) when only be seen by the staff, on Facebook you have a better chance of snowballing this and getting more attention.   Just a thought... I could be waay off base though. Not really happy right now.   I like reading that this may be part of a plan to de-rail it... but I just don't think these guys are that smart.

  5.   And therein lies the problem.  I believe we have finally reached the tipping point in this current democracy where the lazy slobs sucking at the tit of government now outnumber the voters who work hard and hold to traditional values.  The dregs of society keep voting into power the people who will support their habits, and the rest of us keep footing the bill and forfeiting our freedoms.   In short, we're screwed.

  6. My letter to the two:   It has come to my attention that you recently voted in favor of gun control.  As a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and believer in upholding the Constitution of the United States of America, I find your action to be embarrassing.  I feel ashamed that you represent my state of Tennessee and do not possess the will nor judgment to uphold that which my state holds dear, the Constitution.   When I see senators like Ted Cruz and Rand Paul standing up for the people they represent, I am ashamed that my own senators do not support them.  You decisions and actions will not be unnoticed, and you will no longer have my support nor vote in the future as I can no longer trust you to make the right decisions and stand up for what is right.

  8. Is anybody really surprised? Political expediency and the lesser of evils was the motivation. It's all theater anyway. Since when did you feel that anyone you voted for would actually represent you?

  11. They won't have to look far. They keep over reaching their bounds and taking away peoples right they are very likely to find thousands of them... And yes, the best way to undo their damage is the same way they did it, by a slow indoctrination process. We have been marching towards socalisam and a totalrian goverment for years and years. The common middle cass worker is getting tired of all the taxes being taken out for the ones who do nothing, and the pressure is slowly building. If it reaches to high a point, well history will be written by the victors. And while I don't advise anyone to say anything on the internet they don't want read by every alphabet agency in town, I am a Patriot, a veteran and an American Citizen and I refuse to fear my goverment or be cowed into submission. They won't take my guns, and I mean that with every ounce of willpower in my body. Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere

  12. I learned the hard way that you don't let hornets build a hive.  We had some in the yard a couple of years ago.  I tried to take a live and let live approach, but it didn't work out.  the father in law took a couple to the head and neck, so we went to war.  Four cans of hornet killer later and there were bodies everywhere.  We were hitting them in the air, on the ground, and down the hole.  After the battle, we were surveying the wreckage, when I heard the sound of a chopper coming in from the left.  I braced for impact, and felt the searing, vibrating burn as the assassin exacted her vengeance on me.  I never saw the assailant, but the damage was done.  Three days of a swollen neck and a week of pain.  Never again I cry, NEVER AGAIN!  All hornets must die!  :0)

  14.   Damn, you're good :). Fact is though, if we don't police ourselves, somebody else will. CNN drew that blood fair and square. They SHOULD have to answer to the ATF, though. I wonder if anybody has called it to their attention. They bought guns illegally and transported them across state lines.

  16. Today was not a yes or no on the bill itself, this vote was a parliamentary procedure to not allow a filibuster and begin debate on the bill.   The filibuster idea was bad politics.    A filibuster would have been used as a giant political sledgehammer (via the media) against the Republicans and would cause far more long-term damage than good. Let's not forget that Democrats (and their media friends) are far better at lying than Republicans. The more votes that are taken to amend this bill, debate this bill, comment on this bill, the better. They all need to be put on record, especially regarding Feinstein's amendment on the AWB & magazine size limits. There is a very good chance that even with a scaled back version of background checks - - - this bill won't pass the final vote, which would be a total humiliation for Obama.   Even if it narrowly passes, so what - - -  Anybody see the House even working on a bill?   BUT we should definitely burn up their phone lines, fill their emails inboxes and let them know what we think of this bill.

  19. We're talking about a dress code at an elementary school for crying out loud. The school has to draw the line somewhere. Many public schools have much stricter dress codes to include uniforms. If kids need to use clothing and haircuts as a means to express their personality it shows a lack of creativity and security in their identity, in my opinion. I'll add that the parent's response regarding why the kid got that haircut "because he wanted it" shows how weak the parent is. If you can't say "no" to your kid you are not going to be a good parent. We are raising adults, not children.

I don't think this should surprise anyone.  The list of Republicans who voted to proceed are:   Alexander Ayotte Burr Chambliss Coburn Collins Corker Flake Graham Heller Hoeven Isakson Kirk McCain Toomey Wicker   I didn't vote to reelect Corker, and this is just further evidence that I was correct on my decision.

  25. I know I won't be able to put my exact thoughts into words but the problem with our society today is the fact that they ARE saying screw the rules, be you're own person, forget about respect and authority, do what you want, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. There's a difference between following the rules out of repsect, even when you might not agree with them and following rules blindly even when you are compromising your integrity or morality. I was asked not to wear flip flops to church one day since I was working in the ministry there and some of the elders thought that wearing sandals was disrespectful. I was tempted to snap back with, "Jesus wore sandals!" but I didn't because I respected them and I didn't wear sandals anymore to church. Was there anything morally wrong with wearing sandals in church? Absolutely not. Was it a distraction and possibly a stumblng block to those men? Apparently and possibly. I could have stormed off yelling things about being free to be my own person and not having to follow stupid rules but I didn't because in this case, it wasn't affecting me morally, physically, or ethically. It would have been different if they had called my spiritual condition into question. Respect for authority is totally different than bowing to authority. But be careful. That stuff might getcha thrown into a furnace! :)

BUT; in my emails, private messages, direct messages, etc. I expect privacy from everyone, especially the government. But you know the gov. has tens of thousands of agents that have access to our private messages and have for many years.  The information highway is used to provide information to the very people we don't want to know it.  Tin foil don't matter.

  28. I'm sick of hearing how the majority of Americans want all of this gun control. Hey idiots, look around, we want less of your intrusion. Just leave people alone, that want to be left alone. We work, pay our bills, pay other people's bills, and yet it's still not enough. It's sickening to see the amount of people that call themselves Americans that are so blind and willing to give up their rights.

  31. First, it was the Lebanon Gun Shop, who refused to sell a box of 1000 primers. Today, I went in the Reloader's Bench. They were sold out of most anything I was interested in. I did see a couple of boxes of 250 Savage ammo on the shelf...then I noticed the price tag...$42.99 a box! :stare: I'll remember these things and shop accordingly when things return to normal.

  32. In all these cases mentioned the folks in question went out of their way to act like lunatics for attention and it ended badly. Perhaps there is a moral to the story, I dunno. I don't know if I'd use the term "deserve" in a judicious sense in regard to them losing their HCPs. Kinda like a person that decides to live with grizzly bears in the wild and ends up being eaten by his cuddly forest friends. Perhaps being mauled to death isn't a deserving punishment for stupidity, but it certainly is likely outcome that should have been considered by the party involved, plus it's somewhat poetic. Am I a bad person for being amused by the dumb stuff people bring on themselves? Probably. But what has two thumbs and didn't have to drop several grand to get his HCP back? This guy (points at self with both thumbs).

We need many more with backbone like   Paul, Lee, Cruz, Rubio and Moran, Inhofe of Oklahoma, Richard Burr of North Carolina, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, Mike Enzi of Wyoming, Jim Risch and Mike Crapo of Idaho, Dan Coats of Indiana and Pat Roberts of Kansas. Without this group GROWING....the party will die, or be assimilated.......which is the same thing.   They are TRUE lovers of liberty and our CONSTITUTION. The rest are dregs.....crust encapsulated RINOS....   AMEN...!!!!

  38. Let's not point this back at CNN... As responsible gun owners, we should be working and having discussions toward eliminating the sales of guns to mentally unstable and felonious individuals. They did their job and a good one at that. Booo hooo, CNN pointed out that any mentally unstable felon can get a weapon at a gun show. Stop complaining about what they pointed out and work on how we can work together to keep guns in the hands of law abiding and sane citizens.

  40.     No Doubt you right OS.   But repeating the same behavior (voting for someone just because they have an "R" after their name) and expecting a different outcome ain't working out too well for us.   And Yes...it's obviously those with enough capital backing that have always won...but we still have to at least try and break the pattern.   It's frustrating always, today...pretty infuriating. :2cents:

  42. But what kind of lesson does it teach a child when a parent, who by letting their child attend the school is agreeing to abide by their rules, like them or not, tells them they don't have to follow those rules because they think they're stupid? My father and I had strong disagreements on music and movie theaters as I was growing up. He felt that movie theaters were dens of evil basically back then and forbade me to go. I sat down with him one day and told him I didn't believe that they were evil and that I didn't believe in my heart that it was wrong to go. I asked him not to forbid me anymore because if I did go, it would be doing wrong on my part. Not doing wrong because I went to the movies, but wrong because I would be disobeying him because he, as my father, had forbade me to go in the first place. Yeah I know i know get to the point. What Im saying is that by allowing their child to go against the rules, right or wrong as they may be, is essentially teaching him that it is okay to ignore authority just because you don't agree with it. Sure, challenging authority is built into us as Americans, as well it should be. Challenge and question all you want but do it the right way. I'd have liked to see the parents use this as an opportunity to teach their child about respecting the rules, even when they're wrong or silly, and seeking ways to resolve the conflict or get the rules changed in stead of just ignoring them. Our founding fathers didn't just jump into war with England in a day. They questioned and challenged the unfair and oppresive laws that were laid upon their shoulders and only when they had exhausted all their options did they make the decision to take up arms against their oppressors. Taxation without representation is a far cry from being sent home for your haircut. My father technically had no legal power to forbid me to go to the movies but I still chose not to go. Why? Because he was my father and I respected him enough to obey his authority, even if I dissagreed with him.
