God, I sound like Al Bundy. You know "a fat woman came in the shoe store today...." Well this BMW driving goober with his nice clothes, metrosexual attitude and three little fairies for sons came in. I was putting a tire back on the car when one of the little kids ran back to his daddy and says "daddy, daddy, that man has a gun!!!". The man told the kids "Thats called an impact wrench, it looks like a gun but it only works on cars. It's perfectly safe". To which the kid replies, "No daddy, he has a REAL gun". The man the asked me(quite appalled ) " Sir, wha, wha, why uhhhh, Do you have a gun?". I says "Yeah, don't you?" He tells me "NO! I don't allow my family anywhere near firearms." I told him " Huh, well how does that keep your family safe from someone who don't give a ratz azz what you believe in? You know, they call them criminals for a reason, they don't care about laws, right or wrong. You think a criminal will wait around while you call the cops and then wait a little while longer till they get here? What you THINK means nothing, you chose to have a family and you're charged with their safety. Can you honestly tell me youre doing everything to provide it?" ...he probably won't be a repeat customer. Oh-frickin-well. It is sad people. Sad. You ain't gotta be a gun nut like us. I ain't big fan of driving nails but I own a hammer. I hate diggin ditches but I got a shovel. It's just a tool you hope you don't have to use but it sure sucks when you ain't got one.....and you're on the spot, in need of one. Why is that hard to understand? Where does this sense of "Avoidance will make me safe" come from? These are the people who will hide in the bathroom or basement when a volcano erupts. Yeah, duck and cover! Idiots. Rant over.16 points

A yuppie opened the door of his BMW, when suddenly a car came along and hit the door, ripping it off completely. When the police arrived at the scene, the yuppie was complaining bitterly about the damage to his precious BMW. "Officer, look what they've done to my Beeeeemer!!!", he whined. "You yuppies are so materialistic, you make me sick!!!", retorted the officer. "You're so worried about your stupid BMW, that you didn't even notice that your left arm was ripped off!!!" "Oh my gaaawd...," replied the yuppie, finally noticing the bloody left shoulder where his arm once was, "Where's my Rolex?!!!!!"8 points

something about this story doesn't sound very believable...this guy actually knew what an impact wrench is? :rofl:6 points

leave five minutes earlier whipper-snapper ;) I drive slow, not 30 in a 50 but less than 60 on the interstate on my work commute and never over the speed limit on surface streets. I used to haul ass. I discovered taking my time gives me less stress and does not even cost five minutes on a 20 mile commute. if it is me you are flipping off as you go by I will be the guy smiling and waving.4 points

I make sure I have my tactical drop down holster when I carry my HK 45 with my surefire x300. I always wear my generic Swat shirt and tiger striped pants. Then I top it off with my ultra cool conceal carry badge. Noone says anything to me. But I think the key is wearing your baseball cap backwards while following the steps above.3 points

ATK sent out a statement to all dealers and distributors regarding the shortage of ammunition that is plaguing our industry. Here's the word straight from the horse's mouth: "Dear Valued Customer, As you are aware, the unprecedented demand for commercial ammunition has exceeded the industry’s ability to service the marketplace in the near term and has resulted in an industryâ€wide shortage at most retail outlets. With more than 2,000 dedicated employees working diligently around the clock, we continue to take appropriate action across our manufacturing enterprise to increase and align production capacity in response to this demand and, ultimately, service your needs – this is our first priority! Despite our consistent and dedicated efforts, there remains much speculation and misinformation regarding the availability of commercial ammunition. In one example, there are a vocal few who believe that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is buying excessive quantities of ammunition thereby restricting availability to the commercial market. Simply stated, this is a false and baseless claim. In fact, we do supply the DHS with a small percentage of ammunition in select calibers consistent with our contractual requirements. However, the commercial market receives the vast majority of ammunition produced to serve the needs of civilian hunters and shooting sports enthusiasts. As a committed partner to the shooting sports industry, we thank you for your support in dispelling unfounded rumors relating to the supply and demand of commercial ammunition. We continue to support the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) in representing the legislative interests of our industry."2 points

Go spend some time in San Diego and you will find out the email person was serious. I got pulled over 17 times in 6 months. All 17 were for smog checks, on a modified (turbo, injectors, exhaust, r compound tires, yada yada) 2004 WRX wagon with TN plates and I was an out of state resident due to military, which means I am not required to smog my vehicle or follow their smog laws. 17 times I explained this to the officer, and 14 of those still wrote me smog violation tickets in excess of $500 for car modifications. I went to court with all 14 tickets and all 14 ruled in my favor. I had the same cop do it 5 times. I was never once pulled over for speeding or anything else other than smog checks, so they had no reason to "know" my car. Yep sounds like they were serving and protecting to me. What that police officer failed to mention was that Socal cops get put on traffic duty, or did then. I don't kniw if thats shit duty or what, but they have a chip on their shoulder and a hard on for any car or truck that looks or sounds modified. Not to mention walking around drag strips, autocrosses, dyno days and car meets writing down makes, models and tag numbers in UNIFORM. Thank God the LEO's around here aren't like that. my original theory was the manager pursued to get a license number or more info for police. Seems that was true. I do not see that as out of the ordinary at all. I was robbed at gunpoint some time ago and i also went outside to see if I could get more information to give police. I will venture a guess that this action is a common occurrence after a robbery occurs. I do not see DaveTN as a news source, just another commenter on this board. This story from KNS and first hand comments from the store manager seem to clarify any question as to what actually happened. Previous stories included no direct quotes from the man, only second or third hand information.2 points

I don't go under the speed limit, but I do like to leave a looong healty follow distance to the car in front of me. It's saved me more than once. People seem to not like it, so they pass me, pull up and then I back off again. I really don't see how being 30 yards further up and going the exact same speed is better. I watched one of those "I'm in a hurry" lane jumpers the other day. He was whipping back and forth across 4 lanes of traffic, jumping ahead. I watched him cross all the way back and forth 3 or 4 times. He never got out of my visual range the entire commute, while I sat in the same lane, poking along at the speed limit with my long follow distance. My conclusion: aggressive driving doesn't really gain you anything but an ulcer.2 points

As soon as I find my miniature violin I'll get it out and play a tune for you...in the meantime...LEAVE EARLIER. Seriously, people who don't follow the rules of the road (including those who pull out without ACD or who drive 10 or 20 miles under the speed limit) have a special place in hell reserved for them - I know that because Gary Larson put it in one of his cartoons; they were right next to the child molesters and murders. :)2 points

It depends, If your life is in danger yes, by all means if you have a clear shot shoot the perp( but like others said) drop mag, clear round and lay flat on the ground and make no threatening moves. Say if a cop is pinned down by a crazed shooter, I'd do everything in my power to save his/her life. If I had a clear shot. May have to be treated as a suspect( drop gun, mag and clear round and be unthreatening). But I'd do it.1 point

I could be wrong, but I think all that happened. Apparently he was on paid leave while the investigation was going on; then he was arrested, jailed, and charged with felony aggravated assault. So far I have seen nothing to indicate this case was handled any differently that if the guy called the cops and said you pointed a gun at him.1 point

Is that baby breast fed? We had all that crap (literally) a few months back and my little girl was about 2 weeks old. She was the only one that didn't get sick. Our doc is old school and big on breasts, says breast milk is full of antibodies and that's likely why she wasn't violently ill like us. Plus they carry immunities from the mother for a while I was lead to believe. Sucks though cause if she does get sick there ain't much you can do. Bout all you can do is keep doing what you are as far as cleaning and stuff though. I'm sure you and her have been exposed to it hopefully ya'll can fight it off. (I had it on election day and decided I'd risk sh!ttin' my pants in front of many people i know in my community to vote against the one they call president.)1 point

All those are very nice, and it comes down to what you like best since they are all going to fit the need 100%. From here you are into what feels best in your hand, which no one else can say, or what trigger you like best, or sight picture, or even just cosmetic look, etc. If its for target shooting, I recommend considering a 1911 in 9mm, to get a target friendly trigger. If "target shooting" means practice/plinking, that is different :) If you have not fired a single action auto, do yourself a favor and shoot one before you spend any money at all. Given the general shape and size of the guns you listed, also do yourself a favor and try out a CZ 75 model.1 point

Rick and Norma, who are both Master Class shooters, usually take the new and inexperienced shooters in their squad. They are amazing teachers and can keep you on the right track. There is absolutely no pressure while under the timer to hurry out of your comfort level while shooting. And no need to wait for a beginners class or match. All the MCTS shooters are eager to help if you ask. It is really an amazing group of people. You will feel at ease, safe and welcome no matter what your skill level.1 point

If you are able, and willing, to spend the full $1,200, in my opinion the end all 9mm is the CZ Custom Shadow Target. I have, and have owned, A LOT of 9mm, but this one is my absolute favorite and I will never part with it. 10 rounds, 10 yards, offhand is no problem to shoot a ragged hole. The fit and and finish of this CZ is second to none. My second choice would be my Springfield XD tactical. I've done quite a bit of work to mine, but the new XDm 5.25 Competition piece is sweet and very close out of the box to my custom. Here, I thought I should post the Shadow Target again just so everyone can drool.... :)1 point

I admit, I will do this to you if you tailgate me. I will move over if given a chance, but I take a special sort of pleasure in griefing the guy that is parked in my trunk. Its really simple ... 1 car length for every 10 mph. Get closer, and since I can't make you widen the gap, the only control I have is to slow down to match your distance to my bumper. Get 1 car length back, you gonna be going 10 mph in a min.1 point

You need a gun, ammo and 3 mags, holster and mag pouches.........tell them your new and everything else will work itself out. Just make sure your holster is safe to draw/reholster and you don't have to use 2 hands to reholster or sweep yourself.1 point

At the risk of offending someone reading this, I would suggest that the person who would buy such as "badge" as anything other than a joke is exactly the same type of person who probably shouldn't be carrying around a firearm in the first place. I know...I know...it's his"right" and I agree that it is...it's just that sometimes I think it's a shame that having a "right" doesn't guarantee the mental capacity to exercise it properly and safely.1 point

After reading through all of these post I would concur with most of what was said about protecting your safe from rusting when you place it flat on a floor. We recommend to all of our customers that they place a piece of plywood under their safe if they are taking it off the pallet. This will help keep the moisture from staying under the safe, in my 20 years of experience I have seen the exact problem mentioned when a safe is not placed on a moisture barrier. Even on a carpeted floor you still need to do the same thing because the carpet will hold moisture and when you move the safe you have a rust spot on the carpet. As for leaving a safe on a pallet or 4 x 4's and then bolting it down , this is a good way to avoid water getting in your safe during a small flood but it doesn't provide much protection against prying because you can get a prybar under the safe and just pull the bolts out very easily. If you do that screw in a piece of material on the front of the base to keep someone from get a bar under the safe. As for most safes having paint on the bottom of the safe. Most of your better quality safes will have paint on the bottom to control rust but your cheaper priced safes do not. MB The Safe House1 point
